It's Going to be a Long Night

Snape went over to a storage cuppard and sifted through the various bottles. Aleina looked curiously and tried to figure out what he was looking for. Eventually she gave up and turned her eyes to the ground as she absent mindeldly twiddled her thumbs.

"Would you care for a glass of perfectly aged Chardonney, Miss Tempest?" Snape asked in the most polite voice he could muster. If anything was going to work in his favor tonight he had to make sure he took the right precautions, even if that meant being...nice.

Aleina's head shot up as she looked inquisitively at her Proffesor. A million thoughts raced through her head. At a loss for words, her mouth kept opening and closing time after time. Snape's eyes raised in amusement as she watched the sharp tongued Gryffindor struggle to find the words to say.

"Professor, I don't mean to insult your exquisite taste for wine, but it's just not my sup of tea per se," Aleina finally spoke. And it's true, Aleina had never been one for expensive or fancy wines. No she needed something much more down to earth, something strong, yet sweet.

"Well then, what may I offer you?" Snape replied in a very unsarcastic voice.

"Actually, Professor, I'm just slightly confused as to why you would be offering me anything to drink in the first place." Aleina responded.

"I know detentions isn't the thing you want to be doing right now, so why not make it as...enjoyable as we can." He replied to her once again. Something about the way he had said 'as enjoyable as we can' intrigued Aleina. First off, detention was never supposed to be enjoyable. Secondly, detention with Snape being enjoyable is unheard of. And Third, detention with Snape being nice and enjoyable...that's just obscene.

"If you insist on getting me anything to drink, I wouldn't mind a glass of spiced rum, with a slight bit of pumpkin juice," She managed to say.

"Hmmm...that's such a hard drink for such a delicate girl." Snape said. His voice was no longer the cruel lacerating voice she was used to in class. Now his voice sounded velvety, serene, and almost romantic.

"I'm hardly the delicate girl, Professor."

Snape didn't respond, but merely went back into the cuppard and mixed her the drink that she desired. He poured 6oz of spiced rum and 2oz of pumpkin juice in a tall glass. 'And for the added kick' he said to himself. He smiled, hoping that Aleina wouldnt see it, and poured a few drops of liquid from a small vile into her drink. He handed her the glass after mixing well, and watched as she took a greedy sip of the very potent beverage. He then turned and poured himself a glass of wine.

"Delicious," Aleina breathed as she licked the remnants from her soft pink lips. Then drank again.

"Now, Miss Tempest, do you know the reason why I've given you 3 detentions?" Snape asked of her. She took another sip and screwed up her face in concentration.

"Because I acted out in class when it was uncalled for," She stated flatly.

"And why else?" He asked of her once more

Hungrily sucking down the drink, Aleina was trying to think of why else she was given detentions. Yet nothing came to mind. By the time she was done thinking, she had emptied her glass and sat it on Snapes desk.

"I don't know, sir."

"I didn't expect you to have an answer, although, I think that I may be able to help you find the answer. You are quite the Gryffindor, acting out due to a short temper, courageous to the point of stupidity, and brave no doubt." Snape began. He took a small sip of his wine. "Yet, you are no Slytherin. Mischevious, maybe. Crafty, possibly. But cunning and snake-like, not so much. You see Miss Tempest, you cannot possibly fool a true Slytherin."

Aleina had a look of fear come across her face. 'He knows. He knows I purposely mucked up that potion...fuck! Now what to do?' She thought to herself.

"Professor, I can explain!" she began to yell. He raised his hand, much like Dumbledore does, signaling her to be silent.

"Why did you convince Miss Granger to mess up the Concealment Detection potion?" He asked

"So that my secret wouldn't be known," She burst out, before even thinking. 'Wait, I didn't want to say that. I don't know what I meant to say but that surely wasn't it' she thought to herself. Snape watched as her face contorted with the battling raging in her mind.

"I would suggest that you give up battling with yourself. My specially brewed Veritaserum will extract the answers I want, regardless of how much you fight it." Snape stated. He had an evil grin on his face, yet in his mind he was smiling.

'fuuuck, Aleina how did you let this happen to yourself. How could you have ever let your guard down? Did you really think that you could trust Professor Snape!?' She said in her mind. Aleina became enraged. Her mind working furiously to try to figure a way out of her predicament. When it dawned on her. 'But cunning and snake-like...not so much' isn't that what he said?

"Professor, I am prepared to give you all the answers that you want," Aleina began. She tried to sound calm and tried so hard to not break eye contact with her Professor.

"I was hoping that you would," He simply said.

"But Professor, not like this. Not while my mind isn't right. Please, let me tell you by myself, I don't want this to be forced out of me. I don't want to tell you like this, please, try to understand," Aleina begged. Her eyes were near tears, and the honesty that shown through was almost enough to have Snape fooled.

"Miss Tempest, do you really think I am so stupid as to give you the antidote and expect you to pour out your deepest, darkest secret?" His cold obsidian eyes stared straight into hers.

"No, I don't think that you are that stupid," she tried to add a litle extra emphasis on 'that'. "But then again I am no Slytherin. Being cunning and snake-like, is not so much like me, isn't that what you said?" She asked. She hoped that her attempt at reverse psychology would work, or at least gain her a little ground. He raised his eyebrows in contemplation.

"I see your point, Miss Tempest, but-" He began to say before she cut him off.

"And why would I be so stupid as to try and run out of the door when I have detention tomorrow and sunday as well, not to mention that I have your class everyday, and as the Potions Master, you could make the rest of my day's here absolutley miserable, and with every chance that you get, you can deduct house points and load me with detentions until I can't take it anymore. Goodness and I thought that I was the stupid one!" She yelled. Even while under the effect of Veritaserum, everything that she was saying was the absolute truth.

Slightly offended by her last comment, Snapes lips curled in slight resentment for the young Gryffindor. but considering the points that she brought up, he might as well give her the antidote, because after all she was right. He could make the rest of her day's hell. Still with unease, he went back into the cuppard and retrieved the antidote. He walked back over to Alein and held out his hand with the small vile, mere inches away from her face. When she went to make a grab for it, quickly he pulled back.

"I will warn you now, Miss Tempest that if you even try to doing anything slick, you're punishment will be much more severe than a detention."

"Professor, if I so happen to try and escape from here tonight, then I give you my full permission to use any methods that you find necessary to get the information you want out of me. And when I say any method, I mean it!" Aleina assured him. With resentment, Snape handed her the vile and watched as she swallowed the entire contents in one drink.

"Thank you, Professor."

A/N: Ok ok ok, I promise, next chapter to have smut. I know the story seems to be dragging on a bit, but please have patience, it's my first fic and I'll proabably revise it later.
