Make You See My Love

“Come on Moony I said I was sorry. How much longer are you going to give me the silent treatment?” Sirius said as he tossed a pillow at his brooding friend.

“That’s just it Padfoot your not sorry. Do you realize if James hadn’t shown up when he did I could have killed Snape? Did you think he deserved that? Not to mention the fact that if it should have happened not only would I have to be expelled and possibly never returned but the Ministry would have investigated and that could have meant something much worse then being sent home it would mean me going to Azkaban or bypassing that and having me killed for what I did.” Remus said in returned letting his friend know that he wasn’t too happy with his careless thoughts at the moment.

“Look I said I didn’t know he would actually go down there. When are you going to listen to me?” Sirius said raising his voice not caring that the door to their rooms were open. Most of Gryffindor were either out at the Quidditch pitch anyways no one was around.

Remus got off the bed and walked over to Sirius and looked at him.” Yes I seem to have heard that a few times. But in the seven years that we have been students here Snape has impressed upon us that he knows that something is up with me. Every month he tries to figure out what’s going on and every month we say the same thing. That I go to my grandmother’s home because she’s sick and I need to be with her. So why is it that this month was different? Why is it that Snape somehow showed up in the passageway after I transformed?” Remus punched the wall beside his bed that he had moved back over to to keep from having to look at his best friend in the eye.

“I have told you, James and Peter over the last four years since the beginning really that I have always been afraid of inflicting someone with my fate. That I’m afraid one morning I’ll wake up after my transformation and be told that I either killed someone or they have been bitten and that I was the one who did it.” Silence filled the air between the two dorm mates no one said anything Sirius looked at the floor in shame. He knew this and yet he couldn’t bring himself to say that he was wrong. When he looked up he found Remus looking at him shaking his head.

“It could have been this time and yet you stand there quiet as if you don’t really understand the seriousness of the situation. You’re my best friend and I feel like you betrayed me, so I’m going to give you some advice grow up and do it quickly. Stop fooling around cause when you do someone will end up getting hurt.”

With that said Remus walked out of the room and down the stairs into the common room just as James and Peter were returning from Quidditch followed by a group of girls giggling behind James. James and Peter joined Remus in their little corner playing Chess. James was making it a missing to try and beat Remus even though he was unbeatable so far.

Three hours later and now on their second or third round of chess, Remus is smiling ear to ear. James is beginning to get frustrated with Remus taking all his pieces. Peter left to go up to their dorm and Sirius is in the opposite corner making out with his weekly girlfriend all is pretty quiet in the common room.

That is until the portrait hole opens up and Professor McGonagall with the three of the girls from earlier walk through and stop.

“Mr. Black you unhand that poor girl this instant she’s only fifteen. Is that…Is that…Mary Jane Edgecombe. What on earth is going on is this room? I leave for a few hours on the request of the Headmaster I come back and...and…” McGonagall didn’t know how to finish.

“Professor you should really calm down, it’s not good for your heart. Here come sit down and we’ll get you a glass of water.” Hermione said as she led her to an empty armchair. Ginny went and retrieved a glass of water but slipped claming draught in it before handing it to Hermione however Sirius seen it and smirked at her bravery. At this point all of Gryffindor can’t believe their eyes; these newcomers are trying to calm down their Head of House.

“Here you go one glass of cold water it should be refreshing.” Ginny handed the glass to the professor and then stepped back while Hermione stood there waiting for the calming effects to take place. This is something that Ginny and Hermione have done countless times in their own time. The Professor would come in to check on Gryffindor and find some of their house mates making out and she would fly into an instant hysteria and deduct points. But they found that after she has the calming draught she doesn’t remember why she was hysterical in the first place.

“Ms. Evans… Where is Ms. Evans?” McGonagall said looking around but not seeing who she was looking for. Just then the Portrait hole opens up and everyone turns to see a pretty redheaded girl walk through wearing normal everyday muggle clothes and the Head Girl badge.

“Ah there is Ms. Evans now. Ms. Evans come here a minute.” She was waved over by the Head of House where she smiled.

“Ms. Evans this is Hermione and Ginny Granger and Luna Cuthbert. They are transfer students from Blackwood School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They have been sorted and need to be escorted up to the seventh year dorm rooms. I trust you can handle that.”

“Yes Professor. Is there anything else you need?” The Evan’s girl said but was dismissed by Professor McGonagall. She then turned to the three girls and looked at them respectively. “Well you will be staying in the only empty dorm room we have had many loses over the past year that it’s the only dorm room we have left not full. If you could follow me I’ll show you the way.”

She began walking away and the three girls looked at each other, their brows wrinkled. What does she mean by loses in the past year? They wondered as they followed her up the staircase to the dormitory. She walked in and muttered a charm and the scones lit up for the girls showing her four empty beds. The girls picked out their beds and set their stuff down. Ginny and Hermione chose the beds that they had used in their own times.

“I’m Lily by the way. I’m the Head Girl and I have my own rooms. But as I said this room has been empty since the school year began. The girls that occupied these rooms didn’t return this year due to the current state of things.” The Evan’s girl said as she watched the girls get acquainted with their beds. They girls looked at her with a sad smile of understanding. The war is just beginning with Voldemort and many families are scared of sending their children to school and have opted to leave to other parts of the country or keep their children at home.

“Hello, Lily. My name is Hermione Granger and this is my sister Ginny and that over there is our Cousin Luna Cuthbert. I know that the Professor McGonagall introduced us downstairs but I felt I should reintroduce ourselves. Were any of the girls here before friends of yours?”

“Two of them were. The other girl kept to herself. She was a very shy girl and didn’t trust many. Rumor had that she had been abused by an unsavory family member. I don’t know she never spoke of it to anyone.” The girl responded back.

“Well that’s always sad to hear. Well you don’t have to worry about that with us. We enjoy friendship and such so don’t be a stranger.” Hermione replied. It was strange to be standing in the same room with the girl that will one day bring forth the savior of the wizarding world. Lily Evans Potter, Evans for now though. Looking at Ginny who had at one time been in love with Harry seemed to be having the same emotions run through her. Her thoughts were interrupted when that same person spoke once again.

“Well I’ll leave you to it. I was actually on my way back here to take a nap. I’ve been up most of the day. Dinner will be held in the Great Hall in about two hours. My rooms are just next door so if you would like just knock and we can go together.” She started to turn away but stopped.

“Oh and just a little warning there are four boys downstairs that you probably should stay clear of. They call themselves the Marauders but just between us they are just pranksters that don’t seem to take anything seriously. Well except for Remus Lupin. But he has more important things on his mind then some of the things that the other three have.” With that the four girls smiled and waved goodbye before turning to put their things away.

“Well she seems nice. She seems to be resigned though but that can be because of her friends not being here.” Luna had said as she sat on her bed. She had been putting her things in the drawers next to her bed while Hermione talked to Lily. She watched as the girls put their things away and then they joined her on her bed.

“Yeah it must be hard to return to school only to find that her friends didn’t return as well.” Ginny said as she opened a package of chocolate frogs they bought in Diagon Alley a few hours before. Hermione caught one that was trying to get away and popped it in her mouth.

“Well I think we should be friends with her. Let her know that she’s not alone you know. I heard stories about her being a bookworm like me. Maybe we can study together.” Hermione replied once she swallowed her chocolate. Then she looked at the other two girls and giggled.

“What’s so funny?” Luna asked as she to was enjoying some candy she bought on their trip.

“Well if someone had told me that I would be sent back twenty years and be going to school with the Marauders and Lily Evans I think I would have hexed them into next week..“

But then reality set in for her they were in the past and were going to school with the marauders with Remus. The man she’s been in love with for the last two years. The same one that has been doing everything he can to avoid her because he blames himself for her affliction.

Two hours went by as the girls sat and laughed and talked and remembered times that they had been out on the full moons exploring like the marauders. Luna had looked down at her watch and seen that they had thirty minutes to get ready for dinner. Ginny and Luna took over the bathroom getting ready and Hermione needed to brush her teeth. She walked next door to see if Lily was awake or even in her room but no one answered. So she took her tooth brush and tooth paste with her and made her way to the boys’ dorm. No time like the present to introduce herself properly.


“Padfoot I need to get in there and brush my teeth.” Remus said as he stood at the bathroom door.

“Yeah ok I hear you be out in a minute Moony.” Sirius muffled voice can be heard from the inside. James was pulling a shirt on as he had already showered and changed and Peter was downstairs in the common room finishing up homework so he didn’t have any later that night. Just then a knock could be heard on the door frame and there stood one of the new girls. James and Remus stopped a moment and stared then looked at one another.

“Hi…Um sorry to be bothering you but my sister and cousin have taken over our bathroom for reason I have no clue and I need to brush my teeth. Lily isn’t answering either so I was wondering if I could use your bathroom for like five minutes.”

Remus looked at the door again before banging on it. “Alright I hear you Moony. I said give me a minute…Oh we have company. Aren't you one of those girls from this morning?

Hermione smiled and replied “You make it sound like we are a different species. You’re the one that got removed from the Qidditch team right? Something about trying to kill a classmate.”

“First of all that’s none of your business, and second I wasn’t trying to insult you. My name is Sirius and this is Remus and James.” Sirius replied a little stiffly as he extended his hand.

“Say what you want but yes I am one of those girls from this morning. My name is Hermione or Mya but only the girls get away with calling me that.” She said as she walked closer towards him.

“However you didn’t insult me if you did I would have hexed your balls off. Now as I was saying is there anyway I can use your bathroom for five minutes to brush my teeth? I have been eating chocolate frogs and would hate to get a cavity because I didn’t brush my teeth, my mum would roll over in her grave.” She muttered the last part as she turned to look at Remus who continued to stand in front of the bathroom door and smiled.

“Oh yeah that’s fine if you don’t mind sharing. I think Sirius spent too much time in the bathroom and I need to brush mine as well.” Remus replied as he blushed. Something was different about this girl. She didn’t smell like the other girls he came across and he could see little scars on her chin and jaw line. He was very curious about those scars he would have to ask about them sometime but not until she was comfortable.

“That’s not a problem I don’t mind sharing.” Hermione said as she followed him into the bathroom and together they brushed their teeth. They both felt a little awkward to be sharing the same sink and by the time they were done they could hear a high pitched scream in the bedroom. They both exited to find that Ginny had at some point entered and was fighting with Sirius again. Remus and Hermione shared a look and had a feeling what was going on before Hermione spoke to Ginny.

“Ginny what is the bloody hell are you doing?” Hermione looked at Sirius then back at Ginny who had an evil smirk on her face.

“Well you see Mya I was only asking if they had seen you since you didn’t tell anyone where you were going. He then made a comment about me being one of those girls from this morning like I’m some different species and well you know how we started off this morning. I guess I just haven’t gotten over that.” Ginny replied with an innocent look on her face you would think she had a halo on her head.

“Be that as it may Gin he made the same comment to me a few minutes ago and I didn’t attack him. He was just angry this morning cause you were telling him off in front of the others. Ginny what did you do to him?” Hermione replied worriedly. She knew that Ginny made up some curses and jinx’s of her own and had no problem using them when the mood fit. She just hoped that she didn’t do damage.

“Don’t worry it only last a half hour. But I think he will benefit from it, he certainly won’t speak to me like he going to hurt me. Besides I like watching my victims squirm.” Ginny said as she walked out of the room.

Hermione stood there thinking about what Ginny said then looked at Sirius and waved her wand around and before she knew it Sirius was relaxing on his bed. She walked over and stood by his bed and frowned.

“You might want the matron to have a look at that. Ginny has a tendency to be extremely unpleasant. You really upset her today you know and I know you don’t know her and she doesn’t know you so please save that for someone who cares. The truth is she has a problem with males who like to overpower us girls. Our brother’s were not very nice to us. So unlike me who would rather settle things by talking she takes action before she talks it out. Give her a couple of days and then try talking to her you’ll find she will be willing to listen.”

She started to walk away and as she got to their doorway she stopped and turned and looked at them all. “I did overhear all of the conversation in the Headmaster’s office today and I just have to say that Lycanthrope is a very dangerous subject to joke about to anyone most specially when it’s not you that suffers with it. I’ll see you guys in the Great Hall for dinner.”

With that said she walked out of the room and down into the common room. She seen Peter sitting at a table in the corner with a book out, Luna was with him and together they looked like they were going over something. She turned and walked up to the dorm room and put her stuff away and her and Ginny walked back down where they finally met up with Lily and the four girls walked down to the Great Hall for dinner.
