You Belong To Me
Severus had long since wearied of listening to the Gardener. He was getting antsy, hoping that the one, his girl, would come down shortly. He had seen pictures of her, but knew not to trust her.
They were taken before she had been taken. Pictures of her walking through the park, sitting on a bench, reading a book. Pictures of her drinking a soda, smiling and talking to a stranger.
Pictures of a girl she wasn’t anymore. Her memory had been wiped clean. All the girls here were free of memory. The pictures were supposed to show you their bodies, what they looked like.
The men who came here weren’t the type to shop based on personality. And, truth be told, he hadn’t really either. He tried to tell himself the personality didn’t matter this time. He would never, could never love her based on that. He fell in love with this one simply because she looked like---.
Well, that didn’t really matter, did it?
“Here she is!” the slimy Gardener leapt up. Severus heard feet on the stairs. He stood up, some throw back from his childhood. You always stand when a lady enters the room.
Her arms were laced through the arms of two other girls, gaudy blonde beauties. She had darker hair; bigger eyes that showed every ounce of her fear, and skin that clearly hadn’t seen the light of day in ages.
“H-hello,” he stammered, not quite sure of what else he was supposed to say. The girl stepped back just a little. Severus frowned at the high heels on her feet. How impractical. She wasn’t more than seventeen.
“Hello,” she answered softly.
“I am here to take you away. I have purchased you, and you are mine now. Do you understand that?”
She hesitated and nodded once. Severus walked towards her and offered his arm. Shyly, she slipped hers through it. He felt like he was going to a Yule Ball or some such nonsense.
“I have a bag here of things that she arrived with.” The Gardener said suddenly. He went to a cabinet and retrieved a small paper bag.
“We don’t recommend you giving here these items. There have been problems with… recurring memories.”
“I’ll take it under advisement.” Severus said dryly. The Gardener simply smiled and showed them out.
Once they were out in the bright sunshine, Moonflower winced, throwing her free hand above her eyes. Severus frowned.
“Does the light hurt?”
“Yes,” she whispered. He reached into her bag. Perhaps she hand some of these sunglasses. Sure enough, he found a cheap pair with wire rims. He handed these to her, and she gratefully slid them on her face.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” he said gruffly, unsure of why he even cared. Was she not his property? His slave? This was going to be harder than he though.
