Indecent proposals
Disclaimer: PWP. Obviously I don’t own any of the characters from Harry Potter; if I did I might have the incentive to write quicker!
Bit of a weird 2 chapters, it was an idea I had and I’ve rewritten it 3 times 3 completely different ways, this is somewhat of a compromise I’m afraid.
Please Read and review
Early February…….
It was late afternoon and once again Rose was behind the counter of the shop, Mr Robertson was doing the accounts beside her since it was quiet and Jen had gone out to the bank with the days profits.
“Is there anything I can do Mr Robertson?” she asked.
“No no dear, we’re just waiting for one last appointment this afternoon, I’ll get Jeni to clear up tomorrow” He always called the other witch Jeni, even though she hated it, Rose rolled her eyes. “Ah here the gentleman is now.” Mr Robertson stood at the sound of the shop bell pushing the books under the desk.
Looking up Rose was surprised to see the contrasting figures of Lucius Malfoy and Severus Snape.
“Mr Malfoy, another set of robes already! You’re becoming my best customer!”
Malfoy smiled, “Ah my dear Rose, no new robes for me I’m afraid, please excuse me for a few minutes while I speak with Mr Robertson here, you won’t object to entertaining Severus for me I trust?”
Mr Robertson was bowing repeatedly and gesturing for the blond man to follow him into the private office, “And please Mr Malfoy, do call me Reginald, this way, this way”
Once they were round the corner, Rose tutted, and turned to the deeply frowning wizard before her. He gestured to her to come to the most distant corner of the room, muttering a spell she didn’t recognise.
“What was that?”
“Just to make sure we’re not overheard.” He spoke quickly, distracted.
“What’s going on?” She asked, glancing round to check the door was closed to the office.
“I’m terribly sorry Rose; this is all very, well very embarrassing, damn Malfoy.”
“You’re worrying me Severus; don’t beat round the bush what’s going on?” she spoke touching his sleeve lightly.
“Malfoy has come to buy me a birthday present.”
“Oh, what you’re embarrassed about me fitting you for robes! Don’t be silly, I can be professional when I want you know.” Smiling in relief she was shocked as he gripped her forearm tightly, scowling.
“Don’t interrupt!” he hissed, “It’s not robes he’s negotiating over its you! Apparently he’s got it into his head that I’d taken a fancy to you, I took rather too long over looking for my lost wallet when we came before it seems. Since he believes I couldn’t possibly get a witch without his help he’s engineering for us to spend the afternoon together.”
“What? Has he gone mad? This is a robe maker’s not a knockturn alley brothel.” Rose laughed, in shock.
“When you have the amount of money which is currently changing hands next door on offer, you can buy anything. And I see nothing amusing in the situation.”
“Well, ok but this doesn’t sound too bad, we get to spend some time together,” seeing the expression on his face, with lip curled she knew it couldn’t be that simple, “what’s the catch?”
“You don’t think he’s going to let me have all the ‘fun’ do you?” he sneered once more, as the smile vanished from Rose’s face, and her cheeks coloured, embarrassed.
“You can’t be serious? I’m not interested in Malfoy; he’s just not my type.”
Severus was the one to laugh now, a rarely heard sound, a deep rumbling bass.
“You never cease to surprise me Rose, you’re sleeping with me, the greasy haired, sallow skinned, most hated professor of the year for the last 10 years and yet the idea of getting paid to do Lucius, the rich, handsome witch weeklies most eligible pureblood of the year 1978 disturbs you. Where did you come from?”
“Hey! Don’t laugh. I can’t do this.” Her eyes wide.
“I’m afraid there’s really no choice, what Lucius wants, Lucius gets, unless you want to meet an untimely and unpleasant end.”
“Cant you just say you can’t, you know, ‘perform’ with another man there?” She looked up at him, catching his eye “oh my god, you’ve done this before haven’t you!? Urgh, actually I don’t want to know.” Turning her back on him with her arms folded across her chest, she felt his hand grip her shoulder.
“Rose, you knew what you were getting into, it was never going to be a nice normal thing between us.”
“Well just so you know, I’m not going to enjoy this, and I’m NOT happy.” She walked away, and sat down heavily behind the desk again, leaving him in the customers waiting area.
After a very long few seconds, the sound of the office door opening behind her caused the brunette witch to jump up sharply, banging her knee’s on the table leg as she did so. Mr Robertson emerged first, heading straight over to Snape, who was now presenting an impressively impassive exterior again.
“Ah Professor Snape,” he smiled, reaching out and shaking the man’s hand vigorously, “Mr Malfoy and I are come to a very beneficial agreement” he looked over to Rose, “Rose, my little Rose, wonderful girl. Come over here, come on!”
Rose looked at him, she’d never seen him this excited a LOT of money must have changed hands, “wow” she thought, this is wrong but it’s certainly an ego boost.
“Mr Robertson?” she tried to look innocent.
“I want you to take these two wonderful, generous gentlemen, upstairs to the flat, and get them both some tea, and whatever else they might want.” He winked demonstratively at Malfoy, who looked mildly disgusted, with his nose in the air.
“Um, ok. Please follow me gentlemen, just this way.” She walked quickly over to the shelves on the other side of the shop, tapping one of the bolts of fabric with her wand. As the shelves opened up to reveal a small stairway she stepped inside.
