Day 5

A/N: ~ This chapter is very... fluffy. Not what I intended. SEVERE CUTENESS WARNINGS

He loves me, Harry thought. He had gone about his day feeling as light as a Puffskein. It was their fifth day in what had turned out to be, so far any way, the best two weeks alone that Harry had ever had.

They were currently sat in the chair (Draco had enlarged it so that Harry could sit on his lap comfortably) talking.

“So that’s why my father and I joined the Order,” Draco said, smiling amused when he saw that Harry wasn’t listening. Instead, the other boy seemed more interested in the way the candlelight played along their skin. One tanned, one pale. “Harry,” he sang, getting the other boy’s attention.

“Hmm?”

“Did you hear what I said?”

“Nope!”

“No? You don’t even sound sorry.” Harry blushed.

“I am. Tell me again, I’ll listen this time.” Draco sighed, but he wasn’t annoyed. He loved Harry and loved that Harry seemed distracted by him.

“I was telling you why my father and I joined the Order.”

“Oh? Why?” Okay that time got Harry’s attention and Draco gave him a kiss on the lips. Of course with Harry being as delectable as he was, Draco found that it was impossible for the kiss to remain chaste. He broke off with a groan, ignoring Harry’s protested mewl. He wouldn’t look into those emerald eyes. He learned, to his consternation, that Harry was much better at the puppy-dog eye look than he. And that he, Draco Malfoy, was susceptible to Potter Puppy-Dog-Eyes, trademark.

“Because I want you to know,” he teased, tapping Harry on the nose, causing Harry to glare at him.

“You know what I meant, Draco!”

“Don’t whine, Harry, it doesn’t become you.” Draco sniffed in his best Snape impression. Harry laughed and snuggled closer.

“Why we joined the Order. It’s all to do with Mother, really. And Aunt Bellatrix.” Draco sighed and sank back into the chair, hauling Harry closer. He would give the full version now.

It was night, Draco remembered it clearly. Night and winter. The snow lay thick around the manor where it was spelled to fall, and the winter blooming flowers were thriving in the flower beds. The manor was all white and blue and splendid. It was Christmas soon, he remembered that.

The Christmas of sixth year.

The Christmas after the escape of his aunt and uncle.

The Christmas of Hell.

Voldemort was staying at the manor; it was spelled so the Ministry couldn’t spy, so it was the safest of all the Death Eater locations. His father was on edge; one wrong move and Voldemort could turn nasty. Since his return, Voldemort had been becoming more and more unstable and insane. No one dared mention it. No, not after what had happened to Redwood...

Voldemort had demanded several things of Father that Draco knew would be impossible to get, either through coercion or plain theft. When he had failed, his stupid mother had offered the Dark Lord an alternative. Bloody fanatic that she was, offered her own son. Voldemort laughed and circled Draco like a shark. She had offered Draco as a means to kill Harry. Harry Potter, whom Draco had loved since fourth year. But not only that, the way intended to kill Harry would kill Draco as well.

His mother was willing to sacrifice her own son.

Lucius wouldn’t let that happen and sought out Dumbledore immediately. The old man had listened and gravely swore to help them, if Lucius was truthful. An Unbreakable Vow later and they were spies, and another way of killing Harry was concocted, with the Order’s help.

Harry foiled it at the end of the year, as per usual, and Voldemort became more pissed off. Okay, so pissed off was an understatement as big as the iceberg that sank the Titanic. Lucius was good at placating the madman, and he did so, maneouvreing him away from the Malfoy’s. He couldn’t divorce his wife yet, though. Not until Harry had killed Voldemort. Draco wished he would do soon.

Harry listened silently and knelt up so he was level with Draco’s eyes. “I will stop him, Draco. I promise.” As he said this, he placed a hand on Draco’s heart. Draco placed his over it.

“I didn’t say it to you last night, Draco, but I love you too.”

“I know.”
