Chapter Five

A/N: I'm sorry for the long delay. I'm sure that you've all heard excuses similar to mine. REAL LIFE! college, work, trying to maintain a 3.5 GPA, etc

I will try my best to update at least once every other week or so when school is in session. I do have a life and I'll try to fit AFF into it.

Again, I still consider myself a newbie when it comes to writing stories like these. So bear with me and review please. They help me become a better writer.

Disclaimer: I'm not JKR. If I was, would I be working 20+ hours per week for minimum wage while attending school? I don't think so.

Tick Tock. Tick Tock.

That was the sound that the small clock on the desk made while Hermione was silently working on her proposals. It annoyed her to no end.

She was looking forward to her lunch date with Draco, which was coming up in a hour.

“No! It’s not a date. Just a lunch between two good friends,” Hermione thought, “Besides, I have a gorgeous boyfriend that satisfies every need I have. But that’s not entirely true, is it?”

She kept on thinking on how sexy Draco was and what his body must look like under those designer robes.

After Draco had accepted the job from Franklin Williams, he started working out more and eating more. His shoulders had grown broader and his jaw was more chiseled.

“Stop it, stop!” whispered Hermione, snapping out of her thoughts. She saw that it was 11 AM. Draco would come by any minute for their lunch.

---------------------

11:23 AM.

Draco checked his watched before Hermione’s office door. He wondered what places to take her for lunch. Today was going to be the day that he reveal his crush on her and he wanted a somewhat quiet place and a place where she might feel comfortable. Draco sighed and raked his platinum blonde hair with his fingers. He finally settled on the café on the outskirts of Diagon Alley where he went last week for his delicious egg salad sandwich. Hopefully, it won’t be so busy today.

He knocked firmly on the door and waited for her reply.

---------------------

11:25 AM.

“Oh!” Hermione was caught somewhat off-guard. Draco was here for the lunch. “Come in!”

Entered Draco and said, “Ready for lunch?”

“Yep! So where are we going?” asked Hermione.

“This café in Diagon Alley. Their sandwiches were great. Would you like to go there?”

“Sure. Sounds good. Let me get my cloak.”

And they headed off out into Diagon Alley. The weather was crisp and cloudy. It looked like it was going to rain but the weather forecast said that there was no chance of rain for the day. They looked at the various shopkeepers and visitors. No one was too surprised to see Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger together since they have been photographed together many times as friends in the Daily Prophet. Blood purity and whatnot didn’t matter anymore in the Wizarding world.

---------------------

After being seated and inspecting the menu, Draco asked Hermione what she was going to try.

She replied, "I think I'll try the onion and leeks soup. What about you?"

"I'll probably have the roast beef sandwich," said Draco.

"I like this place. It's nice and cozy. The atmosphere's great. You ever bring any girls here for lunch dates?" Hermione teased.

"Only you."

That phrase sent goosebumps to her body, but she thought that he was also teasing.

After giving the waitress their order, they talked about work and other various subject.

"So, how's that elf proposal going?" inquired Draco.

"It's going slowly but improvements have been made. People are not allowed to beat or harm the elves anymore and that's a huge step from where we were," passionately said Hermione.

Draco thought that only if she would talk about me like that. So full of fire. He sighed softly.

Hermione didn't hear that sigh and asked," So what about you, Draco? How's life as an administrator?"

"It's alright. It's not how I imagined my career to be, but I can't complain. Sometimes I wish I could do some type of potion work. That was one area that I've always excelled. I even beat you in school."

"Only because Snape favored you Slytherins."

"Sure, sure."

Soon after, they've broached on the topic of relationships.

"So, how come you're not dating anyone?" asked Hermione. She always thought it was strange that Draco wasn't dating anyone since he was devilishly handsome and was the Slytherin Sex God during the Hogwarts years.

"Just don't feel like dating. Honestly, I've only had eyes for one person."

"Oh really? who?"

Draco sighed. Here was his chance to profess his crush for her. He made plans for everything but he didn't know how to go about this. So he improvised.

"Well, this person always had untamable hair, even in school. Their eyes were mesmerizing. Had great power, despite their background and bloodlines. I know, I know. I don't care for the blood purity crap now, but back then, I thought, how can this person have such power if they had muggleborn blood in their veins."

"Draco, are you gay or bisexual? It sounded like you were trying to avoid the use of the singular pronouns. And, the person you're describing was Harry."

Crap, thought Draco, this totally backfired on me. Time to reveal everything.

"Hermione, yes I am bisexual, but the person I was talking about was you."
