Asking

"Um, Ginny? Could I speak to you, please?"


"What is it, Neville?"


"Come to the common room with me, please? Your brother and Harry need to speak to you."


"Um, yeah, ok."


The two Gryffindors hurry to their Common Room where Harry and Ron have just finished placing a silencing charm to prevent any of their housemates from hearing what they were about to discuss.


"You know, Harry, it's a bloody good thing Hermione made Head Girl. We'd have a hell of a time trying to do this if she were still in the dorms."


"What do you two gits need?" Ginny asked as she entered the Common Room.


"Neville! This is your idea of how to get the information we need? Are you crazy, this isn't going to help."


"Look, all you guys have to do is get her to give a Witch's Oath like I gave my Wizard's Oath. Then, she can help us out."


"Hello, I'm still in the room. Quit talking as if I'm not. What am I supposed to help you three out with and why do I need to give a Witch's Oath for it?"


"You have to make the Oath first or we can't tell you. It's very important. Just trust us, alright? Swear that you won't tell anything you may hear from us."


"I don't like this, but my curiosity has gotten the better of me. I solemnly swear on my honor as a Witch that any information I am about to receive will be kept between me and those who share it with me."A bright white light flew from the tip of Ginny's wand and encircled her before dissipating. "Is that good enough for you, boys?"


"Good deal. Here's the plan..."

After some lengthy explanations:


"Bloody Hell, you two are off your brooms! And, you, Neville, going along with this? Do you all have a death wish? She'll beat you, hex you, then Avada you. Oh, Merlin! Now I've been dragged into this too, I'm gonna die!"


"Why does everybody seem to think we're going to fail?"


"Could it be because every plan you two have ever been a part of goes bad before it goes good and that was with Hermione planning them? Now you're planning against her. There is no way this can possibly come out well."


"Look, we really don't need your negativity, sister dear. We just need to know her favorite flowers, please?"


"Oh, alright. I'm already in this up to my neck, might as well drown while I'm at it. She likes these muggle flowers called roses."


"What color? There are many colors of muggle roses. Red, yellow, pink, white...."


"Neville, how do you know about muggle flowers? They aren't part of Herbology."


"No, but I do like muggle flowers. They are truly amazing, no magic to speak of, but they grow in as many sizes, shapes, and colors as magical ones. Roses are a particularly interesting flower; they grow in multiple colors which have different meanings."


"Neville, what the blazes are you going on about? How can flowers that aren't magical have meanings?"


"Ron, he means the colors have meaning. For example, red roses mean love or passion, they can also mean respect or courage."


"Hmm, figuring Hermione knows what the colors of roses mean, and since she knows everything, red could be the way to go. What do you think, Ginny? Ginny?"


"Ron, Ginny is asleep, it's bloody one in the morning, mate. Neville is looking like he's right behind Ginny, and I hate to admit it, but I'm not far off."


"Oh, well, it can wait till tomorrow. [yawns] First we tell Malfoy what he should do, then, after classes, we go to the Quidditch Pitch to work this all out some more."
