Oh my, well, sorry for the delay, but wow! When a writer apologizes for the way a story is unfolding now I totally get why. This so not the way it was supposed to go, but obviously my muse and Lucius teamed up on me cause this is what came of it.
To those of you who are nice enough to keep feeding my muse thank you:

Ch. 5 Darkness
Draco stepped out of the fireplace of his childhood home. Taking a deep breath he began towards the drawing room, where he knew his mother would most likely be found. He needed to talk to her, tell her his plans for his future, which included Hermione. He knew his mother would understand. She loved him unconditionally, as mothers do. He could do no wrong in her eyes. Hopefully that would stand true after he spoke with her today.
He came upon the large double doors and gently pushed them open finding her just as he had imagined, sitting in her cozy chair beside the window with a book in her hands. Hearing the doors open she looked up expecting to find her husband, instead she was pleasantly surprised to see her beloved son standing before her with a wide grin on his face.
“Draco!” she rushed to him and embraced him in a strong, loving hug.
“Mother, it is so good to see you” placing his hands on her shoulders he stepped back and looked into her eyes, memorizing the look of joy on her face.
“So, tell me where you went. Did you enjoy yourself? Did you meet anyone?” She had always hoped her son would find true love. Knowing his father was always pushing for him to marry a pureblood, she secretly hoped he would find someone not linked to their dark world. She had met Pansy Parkinson a few times during the school years and had immediately disliked the pug nosed child. She knew of her parents and their beliefs and didn’t want her only son getting trapped in that world. Lucius, however, had different thoughts. He had made it very clear that he wanted Draco and Pansy betrothed immediately after school.
“Now mother, stop trying to marry me off” he chuckled as he sat down on the sofa across from her.
“Oh Draco, can’t a mother dream” she smiled. Her son was so handsome and she knew he could have anyone he wanted. She just hoped he found someone who could give him the love he deserved.
“Besides, I’m getting along in my years and I want to know that I’ll be able to see my grandchildren before I die” she was always telling him how she wanted little ones running around the mansion with platinum blonde hair and those beautiful angelic faces.
“Mother, your incorrigible. However, I do come to you today to talk to you about something”
Narcissa held her breath as she watched his eyes light up.
“Yes?”
“Well, there is something that I’d like to discuss with you before father returns from his journey”
“Oh Draco, I’m sorry, but he came home three days ago. He said he had business to attend and not to disturb him. I haven’t seen him in the past 24 hours actually. He’s been holed up in his study for a few days and then he, well, he has gone off again who knows where” Inside she was quite pleased with the fact that he’d asked her to leave him alone.
“Mother? Are you okay?” he saw a strange look flash across her face and couldn’t quite read it.
“I’m fine, now back to you. What is it you wanted to talk about?” Eager to hear his story, she perched herself on the edge of the chair her hands clasped tightly in her lap, a broad grin across her face.
“I did in fact meet someone on my travels mother. Someone who I think I could be very happy with, have a future with, even have children” his gaze held the window overlooking the garden as his memories of the week passed through his minds eye. A slight grin gracing his face.
He heard his mother gasp before he felt her arms encircling his body, squealing with delight.
“Tell me all about this young woman over dinner” she pulled him from the sofa capturing his arm under hers and stroking his hand whilst leading him toward the dining hall.

Hermione awoke once again to complete darkness. Closing her eyes she listened intently for any sort of sounds that might tell her where she was. She heard a faint scratching noise behind her. A constant drip was heard to her left, slow, maddening drips hitting a shallow pool of water. The smell in the air was damp, moist. Tears cascaded down her temples and slid into her ears. Silent sobs wracked her body as the reality of it all hit her. How long had she been here? Who had taken her? Where was she? Her mind raced with questions she was unable to answer. Why was this happening to her? More tears spilled down her face as she tried once again to move, the tight straps binding her ankles reminding her it was impossible. Clenching her fists tightly she tried to break the hold on her arms to no avail. She wasn’t going anywhere.
Her mind drifted to the past week. Visions of her and Draco together, laughing happily spending their time together, living almost as a married couple. Sharing meals, watching the sunset every night, waking up in his arms every morning. A small smile graced her face at the memories, but left suddenly as a new sound echoed throughout the room. A loud creaking noise, as if a door had been opened could be heard to her right. Then heavy footsteps coming down what sounded like stone steps and finally a latch clicking directly next to her, another cry of an old hinge being tortured as it moved slowly and light finally spilling across her face, temporarily blinding her eyes she looked away as if to hide.
“Ah, I see you are finally awake” a deep voice growled next to her ear making her body tense so tightly she thought her bones might shatter if he touched her, his breath spilling over her neck and shoulders in a sickening sweet odor of disgust.
“I was wondering how long you might be out, I didn’t expect it would be so long. You must be hungry”
At those words she forced herself to look to her right and open her eyes to a mere slit taking in the shadowed figure blocking the light.
“Here, I know you want it, take a bite, it will help your strength”
The man pushed a bit of bread to her mouth, prying her lips open.
Her nose detected a hint of mold on the bread. Keeping her mouth shut tight, he pushed harder until it broke her sealed lips and slipped against her teeth. She could now taste the foul, fuzzy, moldy bread. Turning her head sharply to get away from the disgusting piece of food she heard him cackling loudly.
“Now, now, if you don’t eat you may not regain your strength and we can’t have that. I have so much in store for you my little mudblood”
Her blood ran cold as she realized who this shadowed figure was. He had her strapped to a table, taunting her with rotten food and telling her she was going to be here for quit awhile at his mercy; mercy, that was a joke, that man, no, that monster had no mercy.
Lucius walked around the table slowly, dragging his fingers over her bare body starting at her shoulder, going down her arm to her soft hips, continuing over her thigh, her knee, her shin and her feet. He was now standing at the end of the table gracefully running his finger around her ankle straps before moving to the other side and trailing back up the other side of her body in the opposite direction. Beginning at her feet, up her legs, across her hip to her arms and landing once again on her shoulder.
Stopping at her neck he reached into his robe and pulled out a short 8 inch dagger, placing the tip behind her ear and pushing ever so gently as to not puncture her skin, just enough to scratch her and make the blood weep across it, spilling no further.
Wiping the dagger across her breast, leaving a blood streak, cleaning his knife.
“Can’t have that vile filth touching me now can I?” He grinned maliciously at her, leaning in so close their noses almost touching.
“My son may have forgotten what you are, but I haven’t and I intend to show him what filth you really are made of.” Dragging the dagger tip slowly between the valley of her breasts and stopping at her navel he held the handle in a tight grip and pushed slowly into her stomach until she screamed with pain.
A small pool of blood surrounding the tip, he pulled it out of her and again wiped it across her breasts, smearing the blood in large paths.
“This womb will NEVER harbor a pureblood child. No matter, once I’m finished with you, it won’t hold ANY child” Once again he placed the tip of the dagger at her navel, dragging it down an inch or two and again pushed until she screamed in agony. Relishing in the sounds she was making, he drug the knife further down to the top of her pelvic bone and slice a diagonal line and then another, making an “X” appear in her now scarred abdomen.
Hermione screamed until her throat was raw, writhing on the table trying to free herself to get away from this monster. He continued slicing her skin, moving further down to the insides of her thighs, watching the blood drip down her body into the table below her.
Lucius was enjoying her screams, it was ecstasy to his ears, making him harden instantly.
“yes, that’s it, scream for me mudblood” he was breathing erratically. A sudden surge of lust ran through his body and he had to stop, stepping back away from the table he placed the dagger back in his robes, after wiping it across her legs.
“I must leave, but don’t worry, I’ll be back” he whispered to her. “And don’t you go anywhere, we have so much more to look forward too, you and I”
He quickly made his way out of the dark room, slamming the door behind him. She could hear his footsteps getting quieter as they ran up the stone stairs.
She sobbed uncontrollably at the pain in her stomach. Begging for help, she cried out the one name she wanted to come save her. “Draco, please” before she passed out.
~*~
“Now, do tell me all about this young woman who has obviously enchanted your heart, dear” Narcissa placed the wine glass to her lips, never taking her eyes off of her son who sat across from her, a tranquil look upon his face as he smiled at his mother.
“Well, you see mother, there’s something you need to know about her, she’s, well. . .”
“Excuse me mistress, but master requires your presence in his room immediately please.” A small elf appeared directly next to his mother with a frightened look upon his face.
“Lucius is home? He’s here now?” She paled at the thought of seeing her husband so soon.
The small elf looked at her and nodded his head, eyes huge.
“Draco, I must go, we will continue this chat soon” She leaned over and gave her son a gentle kiss on his cheek, straightening her body she glided out of the room and up the stairs.
Draco finished his dinner and made his way to his room. He stepped into his bathroom and readied himself for a nice long shower. His thoughts running in so many different directions. First Hermione, then his mother and finally they settled upon his father. He was home and doing who knows what to his mother right now. He prayed she would be okay. He would not let that man hurt her, if it came to that he would kill him. Fury building up in his veins. Knowing how he felt about Muggles and Muggleborns, he knew he’d never accept Hermione into the family. She wouldn’t be safe unless they kept it secret. He would just have to take her away and live his life without his family. Without his mother. Could he do that? Knowing his mother only wanted him to be happy, how would he handle that aspect? Once again his thoughts went to Hermione and their shared time together. She is what he wanted out of life. He would leave this world behind if it meant he could be with her forever, if that’s what he had to do in order to have her in his life, so be it.
Turning off the water, he reached for a towel only to be startled by the house elf now standing inside his bathroom.
“Master Draco sir, you are needed in the dungeons” the elf looked over his shoulder, checking to be sure no one was coming.
“There is someone calling for you sir, she is hurt and requests your presence” he was shaking, his whole body trembled with fear as he spoke.
“You must hurry, I fear she may be hurt badly and in need of a hospital”
“Who? Who is in the dungeons?” Draco was frantically trying to get dressed as he questioned the elf.
“I’s not knowing sir, she cries your name, all us elves could hear her pain sir, Master has her chained in the dungeons, you must go now” the elf disapparated before his eyes leaving him to finish dressing as fast as he could.
Racing out of his bedroom he was halted by a blood curdling scream down the hallway, his fathers room.
Not knowing who was in the dungeon, hearing his mother’s cries he quickly ran back to his room, grabbed his wand off the bedside table and stormed towards his fathers room. He could only see red, pure rage blew the door off it’s hinges. Making his way into the room he saw his mother lying motionless on the bed, eyes closed, her chest moving in a steady rhythm, she looked almost peaceful, until he saw the pool of crimson blood seeping out from under her staining the coverlet.
He rushed to her side, lifting her frail body into his arms as he wept.
“Mother? Mother wake up, can you hear me, oh Gods, what has he done to you?” Draco gathered her in his arms, making his way towards the fireplace he grabbed a handful of flu powder and shouted “St. Mungo’s” and disappeared into the green flames.
~*~
Lucius had stepped out of the bedroom silently as Draco rushed towards his mother. He made his way down to the dungeon and blasted the door at the end of the stairs open.
“Wake up, you filthy excuse of a witch” he screamed at her. Pointing his wand at her neck, his teeth clenched tightly, “You think he loves you? Never, no one could love such a foul creature as your kind. You will die alone, here in my dungeons. The last face you see will be mine” he hollered into the dark room. “He will forget all about you, he will thank me for ridding him of this sick carnal pleasure you deceived upon him.” His wand was shaking as he pressed it into her neck harshly. “you are nothing but a filthy, mudblood whore” Raising his wand he spoke softly.
“Avada K. . ” A loud bang rang throughout the room and he was blasted into the stone wall.
