Harry found his friends sitting in the library before their Potions class. Hermione had her nose in a rather large tomb that Harry couldn’t quite make out the name of, for the print being so worn from the many years of use. Ron was scribbling out the last of his Potions essay on the many uses of bat wings in poisons; Harry had finished the essay last night while sitting in the common room trying not to think about his professor.
When he took his seat, Hermione looked up to greet him, “Hey, Harry.”
“Hey,” the boy-who-lived said in reply.
Ron scratched out one last line in his essay before putting his quill down and addressing his best mate, “So, how did it go? What did she have to say?”
“What did who have to say?” Asked Hermione as she sat the book down on the table in front of her.
“Harry went to see Ponfery since he wasn‘t feeling well again this morning,” Ron clarified. “So how‘d it go, mate?”
“Uhh, alright, I guess,” the Gryffindor said, fidgeting in his seat. He really didn’t want to have to tell his friends what she had said, but he knew that sooner or later he was going to have to and it’d probably be better if they knew sooner.
“And?” Hermione prompted.
Harry sighed before he resigned himself to tell them exactly what she had said, “And she said that I have to quit quiddich and flying all together for the next few months because it‘s a risk to the baby.” Harry bowed his head, waiting for the explosion that was surely to come from both Ron for not telling him that he was seeing someone and from Hermione for not using protection and being safe about it.
The explosion never came. After a while Harry looked up to see his friends staring at him. He desperately wanted one of them to say something, to scream at him, to talk to him, even to be mad at him for not going to Pomfery sooner.
Hermione broke the silence, “Your….pregnant?”
Harry merely shook his head in response.
“Who‘s the father?” This question came from Ron who was sitting across from Harry, his face rather calm for just having heard that his best friend who was a male, was having a baby.
“Ummm, you don‘t want to know,” Harry mumbled.
“Oh, come on, mate. I mean it‘s not like your buggering Snape!” Ron said, a half smile gracing his freckled face.
“Not anymore,” Harry mumbled, hoping that his friends didn’t quite catch his words… but they did and as soon as Ron realized what Harry had said, his face turned a bright red and his voice seemed nonexistent. Hermione on the other hand looked rather shocked that Harry of all people would have been in a relationship with a teacher and their Potions Master of all.
She leaned in toward Harry a bit and in a low voice she asked, “When did you bugger Snape?”
Harry sighed as he resigned himself to telling them the whole story of what happened that night in detention. All the while, Hermione listened intently, every once in a while her eyes would widen and Ron kept getting redder. Harry was afraid that his red haired friend was going to pass out, but thankfully he didn’t.
By the time that he was finished telling them the story, Ron was fuming with anger. Hermione kept telling Harry that what Snape had done wasn’t right, that it was rape and that he should tell the headmaster or his head of house about it, but Harry refused to do so. He didn’t want to tell Hermione and Ron that he secretly liked being handled like that and by Snape no less.
They sat for a little while talking, Hermione promising to do some research for Harry and trying to talk Harry into telling Snape about the baby, which he refused to do. Ron saying that he was there for Harry if he needed him but making it clear that he didn’t like the situation at all. Who was he kidding, even Harry didn’t like that fact that he was 17 and was going to have a baby with a man who didn’t want him.
Soon the bell rang for class and the trio packed up their book and things and headed down to Potions, which passed without incident. They took notes today for a potion that that would be brewing the next day. Snape ignored Harry and his friends, he didn’t feel the need to give them detentions or take away too many points today; He had other things to worry about.
