I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
5- you cant always get what you want
ok, again this is unbetered so spelling probably appalling I'm afraid.
Nothing belongs to me, not even myself.
5- You can’t always get what you want.
By Friday, the pair had settled down nicely. They’d found their way around the castle, spent a great deal of time spying around nooks and crannies until they new the old building as well as any of its normal inhabitants.
Joy had been unsuccessfully tying to think of a subtle way of getting noticed by the dour potions professor. Sitting in their lounge in the early evening before dinner, watching Daisy practice transfiguring her outfit into various alluring combinations, with equally varying degrees of success, she sat up quite suddenly,
“That’s it, I give up I’m going down there and I’m just going to ask him to come up for dinner tomorrow. What do you think?” she asked.
“Well, it can’t hurt babes. What about this?” Daisy asked absent mindedly twirling in knee length flared dress which was alternating between red and sky blue.
Joy was already at the door but turned round, “um, lower the neckline a bit and go with the red, it suits you. Can you do mine quickly?”
With a quick swish of her pale wand Daisy moved the material of Joy’s current out fit until it formed a very flattering combination of a slash necked black dress which skimmed her figure and delicate silver chain belt.
“There, stunning, you can’t go wrong!” Daisy waved her off down the corridor.
On the way down what seemed like a thousand stairs which led to Snape’s office Joy started to think possibly this wasn’t the best idea. “I’m going to end up looking a proper plum, I just know it.” She muttered to herself.
She finally reached the door and knocked, clearing her throat, “here goes” she thought.
“Enter!” Came the clipped response from within.
Pushing the door open, she found him sitting behind a huge desk, marking papers, she inwardly phwoared thinking he looked incredibly sexy, concentrating deeply, his dark hair falling lose across his face. He looked up, expressionless,
“Good evening Miss Bagshore, to what do I owe this visit. And without your shadow too.” The tone oozing sarcasm.
Joy was sure this was meant to be intimidating but she just shivered from the timber of his voice, sure she could almost feel the bass vibration in her chest.
“Well, Professor, to cut to the chase, I was hoping that you might be free to join me for dinner tomorrow evening. Daisy is other wise engaged and I was hoping for a bit of intelligent company.” Obvious flattery but, hey what the hell she thought, he’s still a bloke they’re usually easy to butter up. He looked at her for what felt like an eternity. Perhaps looking for a possible ulterior motive, or a good excuse not to go, but eventually she received a reply,
“Very well. An evening away from jabbering idiots would be a welcome distraction.”
“I assume you mean the children?” Joy smile slyly.
“If you wish.” A hint of a smile crossed his face for a moment, before adding, “Now I’m afraid I am rather busy at the moment so please forgive me but I must press on with marking.”
“Tomorrow evening at 6 then?” she asked.
“I will be there.” This was obviously the last comment she was going to get as he lowered his face once more to the pages. Joy took one last mental snap shot, or should that be Snape shot, of the scene and turned on her heel, rushing with as much grace as her haste would allow back to her rooms.
Saturday night
Feigning illness Joy had bowed out of an evening in Hogsmead as the third wheel to Daisy and Remus’s pub date. She’d spent a proportion of the day quizzing the house elves on what best to ask them to serve that evening for dinner, making sure the optimum combination of Severus’s favourite dishes with some seriously good wine was achieved. The rest of the day she spent plucking, preening and changing outfits at least 10 times, before the knock on her door made her jump at 5.58 pm.
She forced herself not to rush and took a last look in the mirror, “Hm, not bad, not bad” she thought. Her hair had been beaten into submission and was now loosely curled, and partly pinned up. The final choice of outfit, a silver grey dress skimmed her curvy figure rather than clinging too tightly. A second bang on the door shook her into action again, and Joy opened the door to find her tall dark dinner guest looking irritated on the threshold.
“Please, come in. You look very well this evening Severus!” She ushered him in, he actually looked pretty much the same as always, although she thought (slightly satisfied) it appeared he may have washed his hair a bit more carefully than normal, as it was looking shiny and healthy, rather than oily.
Snape, seemed to appraise her appearance for a minute then sitting down at the chair which was ready pulled out at the table, replied,
“As do you for someone who I have heard is too ill to venture out of the castle. Although I can’t blame you for crying off an evening with Lupin.”
“Ah, you heard about that. As you can see I’m feeling fine, Remus Lupin just wasn’t my first choice of companion for this evening that’s all. Daisy is keen to get to know him though so I’ve left them too it.” Joy poured the wine and took her seat, giving a half smile. Severus looked at her again, then gave a short harsh sounding laugh,
“And I am your first choice of companion for the evening; I should feel honoured I suppose! I think you may prove to be the most interesting witch I’ve met for a while!”
Joy smiled again and they both drank as the first course appeared at the table.
Two hours later, the wine was gone and Joy had suggested the move from the small dining table to the also small couch, for coffee. It had been a somewhat enlightening evening, starting off with much small talk and trivia of the kind people usually make with new work colleagues and moving onto the character assassination of several of the schools less apt pupils, in quite florid terms which had made Joy laugh uncontrollably. She had always suspected given the right circumstances the professor was sure to have a dry to the point of arid sense of humour.
“Well, this has been, a pleasant evening, but as I’m sure you will understand I have a great deal of work to do, I must bid you a good night.” He said, clinking the coffee cup into its saucer and moving to stand.
“Right, this is it Joy, your big chance, come on just do it” Joy thought and grabbed his arm preventing him from moving. “Wait, there’s something I need to say, before you go, please just wait a minute.” She said.
Snape turned and looked at her with raised eyebrow, “Go on.”
“Ok, well, there’s something I’ve been thinking about, well since I arrived really, well before that but that doesn’t matter right now, um….”
“Joy, please try and think before you speak again, I have had an unusually enjoyable evening so far but you are starting to sound like a first year.”
“Severus, seriously talking to me like that is only making me worse!”
“Fine, proceed.” He gave her an almost teasing look, and she frowned a little, come on you can do this.
“OK,” She shuffled a little closer on the couch, resting on hand on his black clad arm.
“Look, subtlety isn’t my best suite so I’m just going to lay my cards on the table, Severus I really find you very attractive and I’ve been thinking about what might happen if I kissed you.” Joy leaned in and placed and placed a kiss on his sensual lips.
Well that’s it, you’ve done it, prepare for the brush off. Hang on he’s not moving away, oh god he’s kissing me back, it’s amazing.
As Joy’s eyes closed and lips parted she was rewarded by the sensation of a curious tongue licking and snaking its way into her hot mouth. She met each lap with a soft moan and returned the favours by pressing harder against him, then pulling back slightly to nibble his swollen lower lip. She felt like she was being carried away into a dream, her breathing becoming heavier, hormones starting to flood her brain, heat filling up her body, she reached up stoked a line from his forehead to neck slowly.
She opened her eyes for a second to take in the view of darkest black lashes resting on pale skin, but suddenly his eyes snapped open and she was being pushed away.
“I’m sorry, Miss Bagshore, but this is just not a good idea. You barely know me, and I can’t offer you any kind of relationship other than a professional one. To carry on further could surely lead to nothing but disappointment on your part.” He stood up and started to head for the door.
“Chivalry doesn’t suit you Severus.” Joy jumped up after him, and he snorted giving her a dark look. “I know you a lot better than you think, you don’t need to worry about me, I’m a big girl I can make my own decisions.”
“What do you know about my life?! You can’t possibly understand what you’d be getting into.”
“For goodness sake, look, I’d much rather regret something I have done rather than what I haven’t. Carpe Diem professor! In life you have to take all the happiness that’s comes your way.”
They stood at the door, looking at each other, for a moment, then Joy stepped forward placing her hands against his chest. He looked down at her and breathed out slowly, as he bent down closer he whispered in the deep velvet voice she’d hoped to hear,
“Do you ever take no for an answer?”
She was shivering as he brushed close to her lips and murmured in reply, “Not if I can help it.”
Her lips were once again captured into a bruising kiss, and as she closed her eyes she found herself tottering backwards and bumping bottom first into the door. Joy moaned, the sensation of being pinned between the hard wood of the door and the towering figure of masculinity before her was completely overwhelming. She slid her hands down, and around his narrow hips, pulling herself even closer against him. In turn one of his hands slid up her torso and found her breast, his thumb brushing her hard nipple over the soft fabric that covered it. She gasped and pushed hard against him again, then…
“Ow!” the door opened onto the back of her head and Joy cried out in pain this time.
“Sorry! Joy what on earth are you doing behind the door anyway?” Daisy’s voice came muffled from the other side of the door. Severus pulled Joy out of the way of the door, and smoothed down his frock coat.
The door opened finding an embarrassed looking blond accompanied by a confused Remus Lupin on one side and an irritated, slightly dishevelled brunette standing next to an unreadable Severus Snape on the other.
“Severus?!” Lupin broke the silence.
“I was just leaving, good evening Joy, Daisy.” He nodded to the two women and glared at the other man.
“I’ll catch up with you another time Severus. Good night.” Joy called after him, as he swept passed the other two and down the hall.
“Perhaps I should say good night too, it’s been a lovely night thank you Daisy.” Remus took daisy’s pale hand in his and kissed it gently, “I hope you’re feeling better soon Joy.” He raised an eye brow to her then headed off too.
Joy pulled Daisy inside the room and flung the door shut, “Bloody hell Daze, bloody hell!”
Nothing belongs to me, not even myself.
