Hermione's P.O.V.
When I woke up, my throat was sore and my limbs were shaking as if I had been freezing all night. I cuddled deeper into my covers and tried hard to remember what I had done during the night. But before I could gather my thoughts, the door flew open and Jessica walked up to me, carrying a large breakfast tray and some vials with brightly coloured potions.
"Dear, I brought you food and some Pepper-Up Potion. After you spent like an hour in the cold shower, I thought you would probably need it!" She winked at me impishly.
"Will you tell me what had you so hot and bothered that you chose to take a freezing shower in the middle of the night?"
Wearily, I ran my hand over my face. So that was what I had done, huh? How very fitting that I, Hermione Jean Granger, always the sensible one, would choose freezing to death rather than relieving pressure myself...
"It's him, Jess", I croaked and immediately reached for the steaming mug of tea on the tray.
"I... I just can't get him out of my system. He's driving me insane, I think..."
Taking a big sip of tea, I let my head fall back onto my pillow with a huge sigh. Jessica grinned and took the mug from me with an expression of sickening superiority.
"Nobody's driving you insane, 'Mione. There's just this huge amount of chemistry between the two of you. Why won't you accept it?"
I shook my head weakly, closed my eyes and sounded close to tears when I spoke again.
"You don't understand, Jess... He... he used to call me all kinds of awful names during school. We were... yeah, so to say, mortal enemies. I can't just accept that he, of all men out there, is doing this to me!!!"
It wasn't until I felt Jessica's soft hand wipe the tears from my cheek that I realised I was crying. She placed the breakfast tray on my bedside cabinet and gathered me up in her arms, whispering soothingly.
"People change, 'Mione... apparently, he feels some kind of something too when it comes to you. He was practically drooling last night when his cousin forced him over to our table. I think you have nothing to worry", she added firmly. "You're ever the brave one, Hermione Granger, when it comes to other people. Be brave for yourself, just this once. Call him!"
It took several minutes for me to calm down enough to take the Pepper-Up Potion. While steam gushed out of my ears, I felt my insides grow hot, the soreness of my throat vanished and my entire body relaxed. When I looked at Jessica, my eyes shone with determination.
"You know, Jess, I think I'll send him a short text message... it's sort of still up to him then, isn't it?"
Jessica looked at me proudly, nodded and got up to fetch the little note with Draco’s mobile number while I took a huge bite of toast and dug up my mobile from the depths of my handbag.
Draco’s P.O.V.
When I woke up the next morning, I felt strangely refreshed and relieved. It was one of the rare days that I didn’t wake with a morning stiffy. I stretched out luxuriously, revelling in the feeling of the soft silk sheets against my smooth skin. As I hugged the pillow and decided that I would quite like to slumber for another ten minutes or so, my door crashed open and my best mate from school, Blaise Zabini, stared down at me in disbelief.
“Mate? What on earth is wrong with you? We’re due to meet the Japanese minister for economy in twenty minutes, and you’re not even dressed yet???”
His voice shook with incredulity. Could you blame him?
“Come on, Blaise, give me a break”, I moaned sleepily, feigning indifference while I was inwardly cursing myself for not remembering the appointment.
“I had a rough night, remember how I went to this Muggle club with Lizzy for her birthday yesterday? I asked you to come along, didn’t I?”
Of course, Blaise didn’t give a rat’s arse. He started tapping his foot impatiently, and I gave.
“Alright, fine! I’m up! Would you mind waiting outside so I can get dressed?” I asked in mock annoyance. Blaise stood his ground, though, watching me closely as I left the covers and went to look in my wardrobe.
“Who?”, he suddenly asked sharply. I nearly dropped the cream dress shirt I had picked out of the dresser at his firm tone. He sounded quite reminiscent of Professor McGonagall!
“I beg your pardon?” Easy, Draco I told myself, he’s just guessing, don’t let him get to you… it’s nothing, really…
“Who is she?”, Blaise persisted. “I know that look on your face. And the only days you get out of bed without wood is when you’ve gotten some the night before. So, mate, spill!!!”
Darn. Why could he read me like that? You shared a dorm for the better part of six years, and you’ve been friends forever, my mind reminded me. Great. Just what I need…
I groaned, picking up my wand and performing a quick cleansing and deodorising spell on myself before pulling on the dress shirt and busying myself with the buttons.
“Irantomionenger”, I mumbled, trying to pretend I was not just spilling my secret crush to my best mates, who was by accident the one guy in the entire wizarding world to match Lavender Brown’s desire for gossip.
Blaise’s eyes widened.
“You ran into who?”, he asked, now ready to burst with curiosity.
I was done buttoning my shirt and had pulled on some finely tailored black pants. Running a hand through my silky blonde hair, I firmly looked into his eyes.
“Some girl we know from Hogwarts”, I said in a matter-of-fact tone, hoping he would understand that I wanted to close the subject.
“Now let’s go, that Japanese bloke will be waiting, won’t he? I was hoping you’d make one of your famous Lattes for me on the way to the office.”
Flattering Blaise’s cooking skills was always the way to go. He still eyed me suspiciously, but dropped the topic and followed me into the kitchen, busying himself with milk and the espresso machine. I picked up my mobile phone, switched it to vibrating alert and slid it into my pants’ front pocket. Thankfully, Blaise didn’t notice. He’d have asked stupid questions about why I was carrying the Muggle device with me on a wizard’s meeting.
Little did I know that Blaise’s mind was still working on overtime while he was making my coffee. Blaise was no stupid man. In fact, he was one of the smartest kids at Hogwarts in our year, right behind myself and – her. Back to Granger again!!! I cursed myself.
Two hours later, I was exhausted. The meeting had gone fine, the deal had been closed in no time and we had spent the better part of an hour chatting amiably about our families, friends and the different traditions in Japan and England. All the time, I had been fighting the urge to block out the business talk and daydream about Granger. Her chestnut curls, her honey eyes, her pouty lips, her delicate curves…
All of a sudden, I felt a tingle very close to my privates. Jerking upright, I fought to stay calm while I racked my brains what could have caused the feeling. Just then, it happened again! Fuck!!!
It took me about five minutes after my heartbeat had calmed down to understand that the tingle had been the vibrating alert from my mobile! Jesus, that had really near freaked me out. I shot Blaise a look telling him the meeting was over, and to let the Japanese go, before excusing myself and practically bouncing to the bathroom.
Granger is the only one I ever gave my number to, you see. There was practically no chance that somebody else could be behind this whole thing. I pulled the phone out of my pocket so fast it slipped from my fingers and crashed to the floor, skidding to a halt underneath one of the four toilets. Great. Bloody fucking great.
Cursing, I knelt down next to the toilet and reached for the phone, carefully picking it up and looking at it excitedly. The display had broken, it was severely scratched, but it was still working. I tapped it with my wand (“Reparo!”) before sitting down on top of the toilet, knees shaking as I pressed the button to unlock the keypad.
You have 1 new message
I could have danced with joy! So she had actually done it, actually considered contacting me and gone through with it? Until now, I hadn’t managed to admit to myself how big the fear had been that she wouldn’t, that she had just disappeared without any means of contacting her ever again.
Nervously, I pressed another button and waited eagerly for the content of the message.
Dear customer, thank you for choosing U7 mobiles! If you have any questions concerning your contract, contact our service hotline. Your U7 mobile team
I blinked, shook my head in disbelief and looked at the phone again, re-reading the message several times.
Full of agitation, frustration, and disappointment, I let out a roar of rage at which Blaise came crashing into the bathroom, looking for me with the utmost alarm on his face.
“Malfoy”, he growled, “what the fuck do you think you’re doing???
I gaped at him, not knowing what to say or do. Just when I had decided on a story of bad indigestion with the hopes of scaring him away from me, a tingling in my hand told me that my mobile was talking to me again.
You have 1 new message
Expecting another prank like the last, I looked at the mobile suspiciously. However, my curiosity got the better of me and I pushed the button.
Hey stranger, this is Hermione. Hope you had a pleasant time last night. I never knew you lived round here, too. What’s the news? Catch me later if you like…
Blaise had finally realised I was acting strangely and not responding to his question. He walked to my side, looked over my shoulder and gasped at the content of the message.
Before I could say anything or stuff my mobile out of sight, he had forcefully grabbed my wrist and was pinning me to the bathroom wall, looking at me with a slightly manic gleam in his eyes.
“Hermione, huh, Draco?”, he asked gently. “Some girl we know from Hogwarts… yes, indeed, we do know her! Blimey, she was the smartest witch of our time… probably still is… how? Why? When? I want details, buddy…”
Disgusted, I pulled away from his grasp.
“Details? I don’t think there are any details as of yet, Blaise”, I replied coldly.
“And considering the fact that I haven’t even been in touch with her, that she only got my number because Lizzy forced me to give it to her friend, you’re assuming way too much!!!”
I watched in amusement as my friend’s face fell when the disappointment sank in.
Turning on my heel and leaving him to mull it over, I left the bathroom for the apparition place, turning on the spot and Apparating straight to Diagon Alley’s most famous florist shop.
Hermione's P.O.V.
Surprisingly, I was happy with the message I had sent him. Now, it was all up to him. You might consider it weird, but I hate having too much control over emotional things. You see where that led with Ron. No good.
Hey stranger... it reminded me somewhat of that Muggle movie "Mr and Mrs Smith" that Jess and I had seen a couple of months ago. In the movie, it's the overture to some of the most sensual - and sexual! - encounters the two heroes have.
Did I want a sensual encounter with Draco Malfoy?
...
Deciding that I needed to do something for myself, I placed a Floo call to Lavender Brown at the Palace of Enchantment, scheduling a facial and a massage for noon. As I loved to shop in Diagon Alley, I Flooed to the Leaky Cauldron straight away, smiling at the prospect of strolling around Flourish and Blott's for an hour and a half before my appointment.

What do you think???
@Lady Ryu, thank you for your fantastic reviews! I tried putting some of your suggestions into the text message Hermione sent, did you like it?
@luvhp, not sure if the message is as Slytherin as you would have liked ;-) I think it is, a little bit. You should be getting some more smut in one of the next few chappies, so stay tuned!
Any suggestions as to what should happen in Diagon Alley? Do you want them to bump into each other, spy on each other from afar or not realise they'd been so close during the day, but just meet some other time? I'm all yours, just let me know!
Keep the reviews coming; they really are what keeps me going! You're awesome, people! *sighs*
