Tryout And Meetings

Author's Notes: This chapter's fairly short but is needed to maintain the flow of the rest of the story.

Harry was holding tryouts for the Gryffindor Quidditch team and Hunter and the others not on the team showed up to support their friends. Due to the silly superstition left over from last year Hunter was allowed to attend tryouts and practices but forbidden to watch the games.

Hunter had laughed when Katie told him this but didn't mind since the loud crowds would have just given him a headache anyways. With four slots open the tryouts weren't expected to end for awhile with a band meeting scheduled for afterwards.

To Hunter's surprise there was some resentment about Cho and Carla's presence at the tryouts from most of the Gryffindor spectators. After a quick growl from Hunter and a flash of his fangs the matter was settled and the two Ravenclaws remained as they watched the tryouts.

Ginny surprised everyone with how well she flew and was easily the best out of the candidates for the position of chaser. The second best was a fifth year named Demelza Robins, who had a knack for dodging bludgers.

The try-outs for the beaters positions went a lot worst but in the end Harry felt comfortable with his selections. Neither of his chosen beaters had the old brilliance of Fred and George but he felt that with a little practice they could do the job properly.

He had selected a couple of third years: Jimmy Peaks, a short but broad-chested boy who had managed to raise an egg sized lump on the back of Harry's head with a ferociously hit Bludger and Ritchie Coote. Though Ritchie looked weedy he aimed his shots well.

Pleased with his selections Harry ended practice and they all headed for the Room of Requirements for their meeting. Hunter had invited the three new Quidditch players saying anyone on the team was with the band. Their eyes nearly jumped out of their heads as they saw the room.

Hunter had spent most of his fee time organizing the room the way he had wanted it. There was a stage, like the one they would perform on in the Three Broomsticks complete with instruments. There was also a dance floor and tables reserved for the crew and guests.

The others knew what to expect since Hunter had used the same arrangement last year when they were preparing for their first show. "Okay," Hunter began sitting on the edge of the stage. "I wanted to go over everyone's assignments and the play list for next weekend."

"What's next weekend?" Demelza asks not knowing what's going on.

"Our first show." Ginny answers her. "Hunter's arranged for us to play at the Three Broomsticks every Hogsmeade weekend this year."

"Wow," Demelza replies stunned. "I want to go."

"Me too," Jimmy and Ritchie say as one.

Hunter laughs as he a gives them a friendly smile. "You're seats are already reserved."

"But...how?" Demelza almost squeaks.

"We keep a couple tables reserved for friends and guest of the band." Harry explains. "Since you're on the team you're automatically added to the list."

"Unless you want to work," Cho smiles. "Then you can watch the show and make a little pocket change at the same time."

They seem to like that idea. "What would we have to do?" Jimmy asks

"Just help us sell some merchandise." Carla tells them.

"Madame Rosmerta and Hunter worked the arrangement out last year." Cho continues for her fellow Ravenclaw. "She keeps the money from the tickets and refreshments while we keep the money from the merchandise."

"We and our guests also get our meals and drinks for free." Neville adds looking over a piece of parchment before handing it to Hunter. "Here's the list of the merchandise we've got ready so far."

Hunter looks over the list and nods. "These will do," he smiles handing the list back to Neville. "I like the prices too. High enough to turn a profit but still low enough to be affordable."

"Now for the play list," he began again. "I was thinking of starting off with some of the older material then finishing off with some of our new stuff." They all agreed and gave him their suggestions. They soon worked out a list that everyone agreed would be perfect for their first show and went back to the common room to relax before doing their homework.
