Chapter Five
Chapter five:
The next morning Hermione slept in a little later then she usually did. Not too much later but enough that the children were up before her.
Cordillya shushed both boys as they began chattering loudly. “ She’s asleep. We have to be quiet.”
Samuel and Salazar quickly placed their fingers over their mouth…serious looks of concentration on their tiny faces.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Cordillya quickly glanced at Hermione to see that she was still asleep so she ran to the door. The person on the other side of the door needed to be quiet. The small girl opened the door with almost no difficulty. A well placed glare that she had stolen from Hermione etched upon her delicate chubby face. “Be quiet!” She hissed to a pair of black clad legs. Her eyes widened a little as she tilted her head up to look at the early morning intruder. “What do you want Misser?” She planted her little hands on her hips. “My sisser is asleep.”
Severus raised an eyebrow and glared right back at the little girl. “Well I believe its time for your sister to wake up. Someone needs to take care of you.”
“I’m a big girl!” She replied heatedly.
He rolled his eyes, “Yes I’m sure you believe you are. Now I need to speak with Hermione.” He implored the four year again. He glanced into the sitting room…his heart leapt slightly as he watched his sons playing with blocks on the carpet, one of them was making “Frrrrrooommm” sounds. He decided to try a different tactic. He looked back down at the obnoxious little girl. “Miss…” Damn…what was the girl’s name…oh that’s right. “Cordillya…may I please come in for a bit. I promise I’ll be really quiet.”
She regarded the man closely, he knew her name so that must mean that he isn‘t a stranger. “Alright.” She walked over to the boys…still keeping an eye on the man…she wasn’t sure she trusted him.
He sat on the couch and watched the boys in wonder.
Ten minutes or so passed by and still Hermione slept, the boys played, Severus watched his sons and Cordy, well she was still watching the strange looking man.
He cleared his throat., “Are you guys hungry?”
Both boys looked up and nodded…Cordy hesitated but then nodded.
“Alight…” He made sure they were all wearing shoes…or rather slippers as the young chit dubbed them. He led all three of them to the great hall. It was the longest trip of his life. Both of the boys kept running on ahead and Cordillya insisted on holding his hand.
“Err… would you mind telling me what the boy’s names are?” He asked the small girl at his side as the approached the Great Hall. He should have thought to ask Hermione last night. He vaguely remembered Hermione admonishing them using their names but he couldn’t quiet remember what they were. He had been far too preoccupied with the discovery of Hermione being in the castle, and that the kids he’d heard about over staff meetings and random meals, did not have flaming red hair as he had imagined. Instead he had been shocked to discover that they had black hair. Then the timing of all of those conversations with his colleges settled in and he realized with anger that the boys were his.
“Salashar and Samelle but Hermonyee calls them Sal and Sammy and me Cordy.”
He scowled…what had she been thinking naming them Salashar and Samelle!
They entered the hall and Albus called out. “Ah! Miss Cordillya, how are Samuel and Salazar behaving this morning?”
Both boys bombarded Albus, loudly pronouncing, “Goh!”
Severus sighed with relief, Samuel and Salazar sounded much better.
Meanwhile back in Hermione’s quarters, she slowly awakened. She stretched and glanced at the clock and groaned. She couldn’t afford to sleep in. The boys would wreck the place. They probably already had a head start on demolishing the sitting area. She got up, slipped into her robe and padded out of her room.
It was strangely quiet. She looked all around the quarters calling out the children’s names. Her heart began pounding in fear. Where were they? They knew never to leave the rooms. She looked every where, before storming out into the corridor.
A good fifteen minutes later a frantic Hermione entered the hall looking haggard. She cried out in relief when she spotted all three eating.
Albus and Minerva exchanged a look with each other, before glancing to Severus.
Severus watched her over his coffee mug. “Is there a problem Ms. Granger?”
She straightened and started walking towards the head table. “Is there a problem? Of course there is a problem! I almost had a heart attack when I couldn’t find them.” She turned to Cordillya. “Cordy hunny, what have I told you about leaving the room with out and adult?”
“But I didn…he bought us!” The little girl cried pointing at Severus, tears welling up in her eyes.
Hermione turned to Severus, “What the in Hades were you thinking? You can not just up and take them whenever it pleases you, especially without telling me first!”
He shrugged, trying not to make it show that he agreed, he should have at least left a note. “I’ll remember next time.”
She crossed her arms under her breasts and glared at him. “There won’t be a next time!”
The action drew his attention to the mild cleavage that was bared. Her robe was open and the nightshirt she was wearing left little to imagine. He hadn’t got around to exploring her upper region last night. He looked back up into her angry gaze. “Their my children too, or have you forgotten that? Now, why don’t you go and put something more appropriate on before Lupin and whomever else arrives.”
“You can’t tell me what to do.” She pulled her robe close and sat down next to Cordillya. Silently fuming and calling Severus every dirty and mean name she could think of.
He scowled slightly but settled down to finish his coffee, making sure to make lewd eyebrow movements whenever she glanced in his direction.
