She's Mine

Septentrion: Wow! Thanks, I hope you continue to read. I hope that you like this chapter.

beeky63: Oh, to be in Hermione's place. Oh well, never mind. Glad you like Dear Lily too. It was my very first fanfic and my very first attempt at SS/HG.

firewall: LOL. Stay tuned indeed. I hope you don't mind but I might use that review as an Author's Note. It was funny. I am glad you liked the morning after scene... I loved writing it.

angel: What is Draco/David up to eh? Perhaps nothing... or perhaps something... you'll find out soon enough.

Queen Celestia: So sorry for that unromantic quickie, but it was a quickie to write the quickie as the moment I was writing that scene real life interrupted... sorry, I'll do better next time.

Dee Dee: Got the Colonel sorted out, and thanks for thinking I am still doing a bang up job... I hope that you like this one.

Annie and Jade: Here's more.

rinniebearcg: Thanks. I think that Professor Higgins and Professor Snape are actually quite similar.

pickles87: Wait over for the time being, and all questions regarding Draco's intentions will be answered as the story progresses. Trust me!

She’s Mine

Draco stormed up to the pair and yanked Hermione out of his godfather’s arms. His grey eyes sparkling dangerously at Snape, as he placed Hermione behind him. At this point Pamela and Jemima walked into the doors; followed by Adam and Greg. Snape saw them; he decided to let it go for the time being. He had lied to Voldemort convincingly for almost twenty years. He could get out of this situation fairly happily and looking like the hero.

“Hermione and I were just working on a scene,” he said. “I was thinking of the scene when Higgins is actually encouraging her. I thought that he could be holding her in his arms as he was doing so.”

Hermione narrowed her eyes at him, and then she turned around and saw that the gossips and the friends of the gossips were there. And more notably her boss; Draco turned around as well and he nodded to confirm the old geezers story.

Hermione took hold of Draco’s hand and led him to the auditorium, glaring wickedly at Snape. Snape just smirked at her in return. He knew her feelings for him were more than friendship. And he knew that she did not love Draco as much as she protested to. He would have rubbed his hands with glee at the turmoil he’d cause the young woman and the idiotic boy if he wasn’t being watched intently by Pamela. Once they were all alone Draco thrust her against the wall. His hands gripped her arms and he stared into her eyes.

“Tell me the truth, Mia, what is going on?” he asked trying to keep his temper in control.

“It was Snape,” she murmured. She looked down on the floor. He shook her.

“Snape? What was Snape?” he hissed.

“Snape, he gave me the love bite after we had sex last night!” she exclaimed.

Draco dropped his hands off her shoulders. Hermione was going to burst into tears. She sank down on the floor and held her head in her hands.

“I’ll bloody kill him!” Draco exclaimed his eyes narrowing in hatred.

“You’re not going to dump me?” Hermione asked. Draco turned towards her and looked down at his girlfriend slumped dejectedly on the floor, all miserable and vulnerable.

“Why should I dump you?” Draco asked. “Snape’s good with women. Once he decides to seduce one he gets her. I don’t know what the women see in him… or what you see in him, but I am not going to leave you,” Draco hitched his trousers up and bent down. He tilted her chin up so that they could look into each other’s eyes. He stroked her cheek tenderly and cupped it in his hand. “Why should I leave the only person who has seen something worthwhile about me other than my money?”

Hermione hiccoughed as she finished her silent sobbing, her eyes were glistening with unshed tears.

“You – you do love me?” she asked in a small voice.

Draco nodded. He leant down and placed his lips on hers. He brushed them tentatively at first before she opened her mouth wide and he slipped his tongue inside her mouth. He kissed with more fire and passion than he had ever done so previously. This woman was worthy of his love and attention. He gathered her in his arms and picked her up still kissing her with sweet passion. Hermione laced her fingers in his long silky blonde hair and moaned his name.

“I love you very much Hermione Jane Granger,” he murmured hungrily in her ear. “In fact, Hermione, will you marry me?”

Pam and Jem walked in at that point. Their eyes wide and she looked at them; so did he. She was startled at the question, so startled she couldn’t think of an answer.

“David,” she breathed. “I – I’m not sure… please let me think about it?”

Draco smiled and tucked a golden coil behind her ear. He pressed his lips on her forehead. “Sure,” he said.

He took Hermione to the seats that they previously occupied and looked at the scripts for about five minutes before Greg came up to Hermione; he loomed over her and he was scowling at the young man.

“Yes, Greg?” Hermione asked.

“I want you to sit with Snape,” he said. “It seems that you’ll have a lot of time to practise with your fiancée.”

“Yes, Greg,” Hermione sighed. She grabbed her script and kissed Draco on the cheek. He let her pass.

“David,” Greg said addressing the young man. “I want you to read the lyrics of ‘The Street Where You Live,’ as it is your only number.”

Hermione walked to the other end of the auditorium where Snape sat with a smirk on his face that she just wanted to wipe off. She was tempted to throw her trainers at him just to hurt him for the way that he was hurting Draco.

She sat down primly on her chair as far away from him as possible. She stared at her script as much as she could. Snape, however, was looking at her profile. Didn’t she realise her anger only turned him on? He could feel her pent up angst and it only served to make him more determined to get her away from the spoilt Malfoy brat as soon as possible.

“Let’s do the ‘Marry Freddy,’ scene,” he suggested silkily.

“Yes, well, her sentiments in that particular song is exactly what I’m feeling towards you at the moment,” she said stiffly.

“Are you going to marry, HIM?” he asked with disdain in her voice.

“He loves me, Snape. Whatever conspiracies you have winding around in your overlarge brain I suggest that you give them up immediately,” she said.

“You. Are. In. Danger. Hermione, how many times do I have to tell you that?”

“Really,” she said. “Well, guess what, I laugh in the face of danger! Danger Granger was my nickname in Primary School.”

“And that has always been your problem,” he ground out. “I care about you, Hermione, if you think you’re going to get away with just last night and this morning you are gravely mistaken.”

Hermione glanced up from her script and glared at him. “I am GOING to marry Freddy,” she said out loud so that the whole auditorium could hear.

Draco looked up, and he spotted Snape growling at her. She turned to look at Draco and she smiled at him and nodded. He smirked back at her and shot Snape a smug look. Snape was scowling so deeply his eyebrows joined at the centre. He grabbed her hand and got up. He dragged her to the bottom of the auditorium where no one else was standing.

Hermione rubbed her wrist and looked at Snape with fire zooming out of her pupils. Snape looked down at her and he whispered:

“Please use your brain, Hermione, six months ago I heard a plan involving you. About the same time you started dating Dr – David, and then, when I join this play to protect you, he turns up declaring undying love. Tell me, Hermione, why didn’t he mention you to me, at least, if he loves you so much? Why hasn’t he told his father about you?”
“Because David doesn’t want to be cut off,” Hermione hissed. “We have talked about this.”

“And to top it all off, you have drifted further apart from Harry. Use your eyes, Hermione, Draco has NOT gotten over the fact that you, Potter and Weasley got all the glory at school;” she was about to protest but he raised a hand to silence her protest. “He hasn’t grown up. How do you know he isn’t setting you up for one big embarrassment.”

“He said he’d kill you for taking me,” she said. “I love him, sir, and if that bothers you go and tell Harry. Harry has long since wanted an excuse to shove him in prison. But as far as I’m aware falling in love with an old school enemy isn’t a crime.”

“Do you think Lucius Malfoy would greet you with open arms, Hermione? Do you think that he’d treat you well? Even if David does love you he won’t stand up for you in front of his father. Lucius is not a nice man, and you would not wish to cross him.”

“I haven’t even seen Lucius Malfoy,” Hermione said. “If you’re that concerned then tell me what the danger is?”

“I don’t know,” he sighed in defeat.

“So, this could all be cooked up from nowhere and you’re making a mountain out of a molehill.”

“I said I don’t know what danger you are in, but you are in danger - please, Hermione - I care for you. I genuinely care for you.”

Hermione looked deeply into his dark almost fathomless eyes. She saw that he did care for her and he was only doing what he thought best for her. She sighed and pressed a hand to her head.

“Can’t you just let me make my own mistakes, Steven?”

“Did you let Neville Longbottom make his own mistakes?” he asked. “You interfered because you liked him and you didn’t want to see him hurt. Isn’t this the same that I am doing?”

Hermione blinked. She stared even harder at her colleague. None of them realised everyone was watching even if they couldn’t hear what they are saying. Jemima was almost on the verge of taking her top off as the intensity of the gazes of her friend and this Steven was steaming hot.

“I suppose so,” she sighed, “but just accept the fact that I love Draco.”
“As long as you accept the fact that I don’t care,” Severus growled. “We connected last night. I have never connected with a woman the way I did with you.”

Hermione’s mouth was beginning to go dry as he continued looking directly into her eyes. He smirked as he picked up her hand and led her back to the seats and sat back down. He picked up his script and she picked up hers and read the scene as if nothing happened.

It was only when they were sat back down on their seats that the spell was broken and everyone shook their heads and went back to what they were doing. Adam walked up to Jemima.

“You know, Jem, those two have ‘it’,” he said. “I wish we did.”

Jem turned around and gazed into Adam’s brown eyes. She smirked as she tiptoed and brushed Adam’s lips with hers. Adam blushed and she fluttered her eyelashes.

“I’ve dumped Rob,” she said.

“Oh no, are you all right?” Adam asked full of concern.

“Fine,” she sighed. “I didn’t love him.”

Adam placed his hand on her shoulder and smiled down at her. She stroked his cheek. Greg watched them. He had to cast a Colonel Pickering, and Adam had the gentleness in his voice and eyes. They could easily make him up to look older.

“Adam! Go over to Snape and Hermione, you’re Colonel Pickering.”

“But I’m too young,” Adam said.

“Make up will deal with that,” Greg said. “Go on, play the Colonel.”

Adam shrugged his shoulders and Jemima smiled up at him. She walked up to Pam and whispered something in her ear. Adam sat the other side of Hermione and told them that he was assigned the role of Colonel Pickering.

“Oh good,” Snape said. Hermione looked over at Draco, he had his head down and he was reading his script. He was frowning over something. Hermione wanted to go over to him but she couldn’t. She had to stay here between these two men. Adam spread his legs open forcing Hermione’s legs to brush against Snape. Snape noticed the touch and grinned at her.

Hermione shook her head and just before she was going to suggest doing the ‘The Bet’ scene when a shadow loomed over her. Draco had gotten fed up of being on his own. He had joined to spend more time with Hermione but it wasn’t working. Hermione looked up and smiled at her boyfriend.

“What’s the matter?” Hermione asked.

“I’ve read the song over twenty times,” he said. “I thought that Freddy was a bigger part.”

“He is,” Hermione said.

“There’s a scene where Eliza is singing a song to him,” he said.

“Yeah,” Hermione said. “It happens to be my favourite one.”

“Well, why doesn’t she shut up and let him show her how much he does care for her?”

“Because,” she sighed, “she knows that he has no intention of showing her. If he did he would have showed her as soon as she finished the song, but he doesn’t. He continues to remain polite and stiff upper lipped.”

Draco sat down on the seat and spread his script out on the back of the chair and pointed to a bit in the script.

“Does Eliza love him at this point?”

“Eliza likes him,” Hermione said. “She thinks he’s rather sweet. But, truly, her respect is for Professor Higgins. She wants to impress him more than anything.”

She turned her head to Snape. Much the way she wanted to when she was at school when he was her teacher. Snape looked at her and raised an eyebrow. Draco looked at Hermione and then he narrowed his eyes at Snape. She said it was just a script, but that was doubtful with the look she was giving him. What had he said to her when no one could hear them? Whatever it was it seemed to drag her back towards him.

Hermione left the gaze of her ex-Professor and looked back into her boyfriend’s eyes. She smiled at Draco and he smirked down at her.

“Look, come over to my place tonight, and we’ll discuss it then,” Hermione said, “and perhaps celebrate our engagement.”

She dropped her lashes and smiled cheekily at the thought. He noticed her blush slightly.

“Can’t wait,” he said his pupils dilated with the mere thought. If he would have known that this was how the Granger girl was going to turn out then he might have been nicer to her at school. He walked away and sat back on his own looking forward to the evening.

“Didn’t you listen to a single thing I said,” Snape hissed in her ear.

“For goodness sake, Professor, I am not going to dump him on your hearsay. I need proof before I can dump him. I need justification,” she sighed.

“I have a feeling you know this boy, Steve,” Adam said.

“Yes,” Snape said, “his father isn’t the nicest man in the world. He hates Hermione, David used to. I am slightly shocked that they are going out with each other.”

“So, you do know Hermione,” Adam said. “How?”

“I taught her,” Snape said. “Rather ironic really.”

“Very ironic,” Adam agreed. “Aren’t there rules about ex-teachers dating ex-students?”

“No,” Snape said. “But it is frowned upon. But Hermione was one of the most annoying students I ever had the misfortune to teach.”

“I am still here you know,” Hermione said rather petulantly. “Don’t talk about me as though I am not here.”

“Oh, but isn’t this how Higgins and Pickering act around Eliza?” Snape asked with his impish grin plastered on his face. Hermione had to tell herself to control her feelings.

“Not all the time,” Hermione fumed. “Colonel Pickering treats her with respect at least.”

“Oh dear,” Adam said. “Do I have to like you?”

“Shut up,” Hermione said trying not to laugh. Some part of her was reminded of Remus. Although, Adam had blonde hair, and his brown eyes were sharper. She poked Adam in the ribs and he burst into laughter. Snape tickled her in the ribs. It made her stop immediately, as she didn’t want anyone’s attention to be drawn to them.
Hermione picked up her script and tried to read, but Snape leant over and pressed his lips against her neck. He stroked her spine as she continued reading. He wanted a reaction. She was not going to give him the satisfaction. Draco looked over and saw Snape run his fingers up and down Hermione’s spine the way she liked. Draco wanted him out of the way, but how?

Hermione tried to shrug him off but he wasn’t going to heed anything that she was going to do or say in protest. Apart from Snape’s blatant flirting they were actually working quite hard trying to get their lines straight. Adam assumed an older and wiser voice and demeanour. The scene went well. Snape put real hunger in his voice on this particular line: “By George, Eliza, the streets will be strewn with men shooting themselves for your sake by the time I’m through with you.”

It was put forth with such hunger that Hermione; like Eliza; wanted to flee from the scene. She blinked with surprise before she got back to the script.

“Home time,” Greg said. “Great work everybody. But words to David and Hermione… could you two try not to bring your emotions with you to work. It’s sweet and lovely to see a young couple in love, but try to remember you’re at work.”

“Yes, Greg,” Hermione said quite loudly.

“Drop dead, Greg,” Draco muttered.

Hermione walked out of the theatre and decided to wait for Draco. Pam and Jem said goodbye to her as they walked out. Adam chased after Jemima and took hold of her hand. Hermione smiled; at least they could be happy.

~*~*~

Greg walked out of the auditorium nodding to the two that was left inside the building. He went to the office, as soon as he was out of sight, Draco spun around and slammed Snape into the wall.

“Like I said, Snape, she’s mine. Find your own,” he snarled at the older man. “It’s disgusting watching you salivate over her, old man!”

“Have you ever thought that some women like their men to be older, and more intelligent?”

“Back. Of. Her. Snape, unless you want a black eye or two?”

Snape pushed Draco off him and stepped forward. He bent down so that they were eye to eye. Draco looked away from him. Snape smirked at that one reaction.

“What is it you don’t want me to see, Malfoy?” Snape snarled. “If you have nothing to hide why don’t you look me in the eye?” Draco looked in Snape’s eyes but only briefly. He looked away again. “Listen to me, brat, Hermione is twice the person you’ll ever be, and I happen to like her for myself. You love her, then why don’t you do something about it. Unless you are going to be a Freddy and let her slip right through your fingers?”

Snape looked his rival up and down. He then spun on his heel reminiscent of the days when he was a Hogwarts Professor. Draco sighed. He told Hermione he loved her and that he’d kill for her. I will, he vowed silently to himself, she’s mine Snape, and you’ll die if you so much as go near her again.
