Slip of the Tongue
It has been a while since I updated this, as I have started a new job and have much less free time on my hands... but I am settling into a routine now and am working on finishing this story. Right now I will upload the next 3 chapters, hope you enjoy them.

Chapter 5
Lying together in a post coital embrace, Lucius was drowsy; Tempest was laying with her head on his naked chest, he was stroking her hair “about what I said earlier…” he faltered “it was a …”
“Heat of the moment thing?” she interjected “a slip of the tongue?”
Both of these made Lucius sound cold and unfeeling, as Tempest sat up and reached for her robe. Lucius watched her, unsure what to say to this. He was not even sure how he felt, it was just something said without thought, but was it merely lust speaking?
“Don’t worry Lucius; I don’t for one minute delude myself that you meant it. I harbour no illusions as to the true reason you searched for me.” She turned to walk away, picking up another robe from the bed and throwing it at Lucius. “So…” she said as she sat next to a low table and poured drinks from a tray that Lucius was sure had not been there earlier “when are you going to get to the point and ask me what you want to know? The true reason you were seeking me?”
Lucius put on the robe she had thrown at him “you mean the mirror?” he asked as though it had not crossed his mind until she had said this.
“Oh so innocent” Tempest mocked “it really does not become you Lucius!”
Taking a seat and the drink she placed before him “really, it was not the mirror…” he looked at her glowering at him “not just the mirror…” he corrected.
“Oh?” she raised an eyebrow and looked at him “do tell. I can barely wait.”
“Yes, I was sore that I did not get the mirror – but I wanted to see you” he looked like this had been very difficult for him to admit. He reached to take her hand, but she leant away from him.
“Don’t think that you can turn this around by charming me, or seducing me!” she hissed.
“If you will not give me any information about the mirror – will you at least give me back my own clothing and wand back?” he replied coldly.
“Your clothes will be in your room, when you have finished your drink you can go back there. But your wand, I am afraid that you will get that back only when you leave” she stood and walked away, leaving the room and Lucius.
“And this will be when?” he called out, stopping her in her tracks. He was confused by how cold and distant she had become.
“As soon as I can arrange for you to go back, it was a mistake to bring you here.” She turned to leave again and then stopped “I will see you at dinner…” with that she left the room.
Lucius was stunned “witches!” he muttered “I will never understand them.”
Finishing his drink he then went back out into the balcony and through into the room he had been in earlier. Once in this room he found that dark robes and a suit very similar to the ones he usually wore were lying neatly on the bed “she thought of everything I see.” He mused. Showering and dressing, he then went to explore the house and gardens, the whole time he never caught sight of Tempest.
He sat in the garden for a long while, thinking about what he had said and how she had reacted. She had seemed angry at him, surely this could not be because of what he had said?
~*~*~
From one of the windows on the upper floor, Tempest was watching Lucius in the garden. She was still feeling odd after hearing Lucius say ‘my love’ it was not so much what he had said that had angered her, but her own reaction to it. On hearing those words tumble from his lips her heart had leapt. This was of course ridiculous, Lucius wanted just one thing from her, and this was the mirror to which she was guardian. As she thought this Freya who was sitting on the window seat stirred and looked up at her “don’t look at me like that” she said to the cat “I know I was a fool to allow him to find me again, tomorrow he will leave and I will never see him again.” As she said this Tempest felt her heart ache and tears pricked her eyes. Shaking her head she glanced down at Lucius again before walking away from the window to make sure that the arrangements for dinner were underway.
