One Last Chance

Chapter Four

Draco's first day at The Burrow began rather well.Ginny,Harry and Draco all sat down to breakfast together,Mrs.Weasley piling food onto Draco's plates.

"Mom,that's enough food on Draco's plate."Ginny said as her mother piled four eggs onto the blonde's dish.

"Nonsense,"Mrs.Weasley said,ignoring her daughter and giving the man more food."he's much too skinny."Ginny laughed and Trixie copied her.Harry made a grunting noise from behind his newspaper then stood up.

"Well,I'm off,"He said.Harry grabbed a suitcase from under his chair and kissed Mrs.Weasley on the cheek."thanks a lot for breakfast,it was great,"He told the woman,making her smile.He then patted Trixie on the head and gave Ginny a quick kiss on the lips."Bye everyone!"And then he was gone.

Mrs.Weasley was pouring Draco a glass of orange juice when she stopped short.

"Oh my,what happened to your eye?"She asked,noticing his swollen black eye.

"Oh,uh,nothing.Just a little row that went overboard."Draco said,not wanting to admit his father beat him up.

"Here,let me fix that,"Mrs.Weasley pulled her wand out of her pocket and pointed it at the blonde's eye,making him flinch.Without a word,Draco's eye became normal colour and the swelling went down to nothing."There you go,dear."She said happily.

Mrs.Weasley put the pans from breakfast into the sink and the charmed sponge began to wash them,she then too left the room.

"Where exactly does Potter have to go to?"Draco asked Ginny curiously."From what I heard he's still unemployed.He turned down the Auror job,did he not?"Trixie got out of Ginny's grasp and began to run around the kitchen screaming loudly.Ginny stood up and chased her around the room.

"Yes,"She said as she made a grab for her daughter,who laughed."he did turn down that job,but he was just offered a new one this summer."

"Oh?"Said Draco through a mouthful of eggs.He damned the fact that the vile Potter had a job whereas he,up until last night,was still living off his father who had recently been broken out of Azkaban."Where at?"

"Trixie Angel Weasley,get back here!"Ginny shouted as Trixie tried to run up the stairs.Ginny grabbed at her again and sat her in her high chair."Oh,um,Hogwarts."She answered Draco's question simply.

"Hogwarts?"Draco asked,not knowing if he heard Ginny properly.

"That's what I said,"Ginny replied,taking her seat at the table again."he's going to be the next Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year."Draco choked on his drink of orange juice.

"What!?"He swallowed quickly."Potter teach at Hogwarts?"Ginny laughed.

"Yes,they asked him to last year but he was busy with Trixie since I was at school,"She answered,then as an after thought,added,"did you never hear of Dumbledore's Army?"

"Yeah,I've heard of it."Draco answered,remembering the time in fifth year when Potter had gotten people together to teach a decent DADA class.He'd of course never joined,but everyone knew about it.Damn famous Potter.

"So,Draco,"Ginny said after a few moments of silence."do you have a job?"

"Do you?"He retorted rather than admitting he was living off a wanted criminal.

"Well no,but I just graduated last night."Ginny informed Draco.

"I know,"He told her."I was there."Ginny was confused.

"You were at my graduation?"She asked,certain she had misheard him.

"Yepp,"He told her."why?Didn't you see me?"

"No I didn't."She answered him over Trixie's screams.

"Out!Out!"Trixie kept screaming loudly,struggling against the confinements of her chair."Out,Mama!Out!"Ginny sighed loudly and put down her fork.She walked over to her daughter's high chair and let her out.As soon as Trixie was on the floor she ran as fast as her chubby legs would carry her into the living room.

"She must be a handful."Draco commented as Ginny sat back down.

"Oh yeah,"Ginny said,shovelling some food into her mouth."thank Merlin for Harry.I don't know what I'm going to do when he goes to Hogwarts."Draco was about to retort when he saw the saddened look on Ginny's face.For some reason that look made his heart sink.

"You really do care about him,huh?"He asked her,knowing the answer,yet dreading it.

"Well,to be honest,"Draco sat up a little straighter."after you,I never thought I would care about a guy that way anymore.But then Trixie was born and Harry was just like a father to her.So you know?It all fit.It just made sense that I should be with him."Draco was slightly shocked.So did she love him or not?

"So,"He began."what you're saying is you're only with Harry because it made sense?"

"No,not only that!"Ginny defended herself."Trixie needed a father and he was there to do it.I do care about him,honest I do,but I guess he does make life a little easier."

"You think way too much about your baby too much,"Draco stated and Ginny nodded her head in agreement."why don't we get outta' here?"Ginny perked up a little bit.She hadn't been away from The Burrow in so long,other than for school.

"Oh,Draco,I don't know-"

"Come on,your mum can look after the baby and you and I can go out and have some fun.You deserve to go have some fun."

"But Draco,I'm with Harry-"

"Who said it would be a date?"Draco asked her.Ginny considered her options for a moment.She could either say no,disapoint Draco and have to spend the whole day chasing Trixie around or she could say yes,get out of here and be a normal teenager,and maybe even learn to slightly forgive Draco.Ginny sighed in defeat.

"Fine,but,I want to be back before my baby goes to bed."She demanded as Draco grabbed her hands and both stood up.

"Promise,"He said."now be a good little girl and go tell your mother you're going out."Ginny stuck her tongue out at the blonde but listened and went to find her mother.

It didn't take long to find Mrs.Weasley.She was in the living room,sitting in her rocking chair and reading one of Lockhart's books.Even though she now knew he was a fraud she still loved his work.

"Mum."Ginny called went she entered the room.Trixie was sitting on the floor playing with a rubber duck her father had given her for her first birthday.

"Yes,Ginny?"Mrs.Weasley asked,looking up from her book.

"Draco and I are going out for a while,"She told her mum."I need to get away from here.Can you watch Trixie for a bit?"

"Of course dear,"Mrs.Weasley smiled."You go enjoy yourselves.Not too late."Ginny kissed her mother on the cheek,then her daughter,then returned to the kitchen where Draco was waiting.

"Alright,where to?"Ginny asked,excited.Draco thought for a moment.

"Hogsmeade,"He said."there's some good memories there."Ginny smiled,remembering the time she accidently kicked him in the groin in the Three Broomsticks.The two were just about to apparate when Ginny suddenly remembered something.

"Stop!"She shouted,causing Draco to jump.

"What is it?"He asked,confused.Ginny pointed at his clothes.Draco looked down to see he was only wearing his jeans from last night."Oh...meet you in ten minutes?"

"Fifteen."Ginny answered,then ran down into the basement to search for clothes.

Ginny returned upstairs nearly fifteen minutes later completely clothed to find Draco waiting for her in the kitchen.

"Ready?"Draco asked her.Ginny nodded in response,then the two apparated away.
