Chapter Four

“JEN!! I HAVE FRESH GOSSIP!” Emily screeched as
she ran into the room. “Ughh Emily, loud enough?” I asked
glaring at her. “Sorry, I’m just soo excited!” she said. “You
won’t believe what I just heard Draco and Severus saying!
They said-” “Oh yes, pray tell Emily, what did my brother and
godfather say this time?” drawled a voice from the doorway.
Emily visibly jumped a little. “Oh Ingrid. Hi. You’re
home...early,” she said shakily. “Yes, well my modeling session
let out a bit early,” she said smirking. “And who might this little
girl be?” I stood up, scowling at her.
“I’ll have you know I’m Jennifer Healy, and old friend
of your brother. And I am most certainly NOT a LITTLE GIRL!” I
said, my voice filled with very controlled fury. “Well of course not.
You’re just that little mudblood Draco used to talk about. Funny, he
hasn’t said a thing about you since he’s gotten married,” she said,
smirking. I was visibly seething.
Trying to avoid confrontation, Emily said loudly, “Actually,
Draco suggested that I give Jen a tour of the house. I think that is a
I great idea. Come on Jen we should go right now.” She grabbed my
hand and I was, once again, physically removed from the room. I was
beginning to think that she had a thing with physically removing people
from rooms. “We’ll see you later Ingrid,” she shouted as she dragged
me out the door.
After we were a good distance away, Emily let me go, and I
slumped against a wall. “I’m really sorry about that Jen. Ingrid can sure
be a bitch sometimes. But it’s best to avoid confrontation with her. Trust
me, I figured that out the hard way,” she said. I hadn’t really been listening
to Emily. What Ingrid had said was still running through my head.

And who might this little girl be? You’re just that little mudblood Draco used
to talk about. Funny, he hasn’t said a thing about you since he’s gotten
married.
I couldn’t stop the tears that were flowing down my cheeks.
“Awww, Jen don’t cry. It’s not that bad. None of what she said was true.
Ingrid just likes to get people all riled up,” Emily said. She leaned against
the wall next to me and pulled me into a hug. I was so distraught, that that
little gesture sent me over the edge. Before I knew it, I was spilling my heart
out to her, telling her the whole story, all about the fateful detention and my
happy ending hopes.
And she just held me through it all, and when I was done, she
whispered soft soothing words. When I finally stopped crying, and was just
sniffling a little, she let me go and we both sat down with our backs to the
wall. “You really do love Draco don’t you?” she asked softly. “I’m not sure,” I
answered truthfully.
“Do you think about him all the time?” I nodded. “Do you wish you
could always be near him, and when your apart do you miss him desperately?” I
nodded again. “Do you just wish you could kiss him, and not care who saw? Or
even better that everyone would see so they would know he was yours?” I looked
at her oddly. ‘How could she know my exact feelings?’ I thought. But I nodded
anyway.
“Do you just wish-” she said as the words caught in her throat. “Do
you just wish you didn’t have to keep it a secret and could tell the world, shout
it to the heavens, I love him?” I nodded one last time. She smiled a knowing
smile. “Jen, you’re in deep, and there’s no turning back now. You love him.” She
said it simply, but I knew it was true. I could feel it.
“How did you know exactly how I felt?” I asked. She smiled again.
“Because that is exactly how I feel about S-” she stopped, her smiling fading.
She covered her mouth with her hands. “I should go now. I’ll talk to you later.
Sorry we had to cancel the tour. If you need anything, I’ll be in my room. It’s
the one directly above yours.” Then she walked briskly away.
I just sat there, dumbstruck by all the information I had just been
told. So his name started with an S. I quickly went through all of the people I
knew she knew that started with an S. I eliminated death eaters, people over fifty,
and people who were dead. Then I went through and eliminated Severus and few
other people I knew it couldn’t possibly be.
I thought it might be Stephan, a boy I remembered her mentioning once.
Although, I doubted he was a wizard. He had gone to muggle school with her when
she was little. That was the only person I could think of though.
It was getting late, so I got up and made my way to my room. I got into
my pjs, slipped under the covers and waited for sleep to over take me. It never
came, but something did. About 2 a.m., I heard a door creak close, another creak
open, and then close again. I wondered who was up and about, but I passed it
off as a bathroom break and went back to trying to sleep. About three minutes
later I heard a bunch of odd noises.
At first I thought it was an intruder, but then I realized it was coming
from the room above me, Emily and Draco’s room. I continued to try and figure
out what the noise was. Then it hit me. It was, to my horror, bed springs
squeaking. ‘No,’ I thought. ‘No, No, No, No, NO! That’s not what’s happening!
Emily said it was strictly platonic!’ But even my thoughts couldn’t deny the noises
I was hearing.
I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that I didn’t realize I had
strayed close to the side of the bed until I fell off. I made an indefinitely
loud clunk. The squeaking stopped for a moment. I heard some whispers,
but I couldn’t make out what was being said.
One voice, male, so probably Draco I figured, raised its voice
just enough so I could hear, “Wait. If you didn’t and I didn’t...SHIT! THERE’S
A GUEST RIGHT DOWNSTAIRS! HOW COULD WE FORGET?” There was a little
more whispering and then silence. I guessed they cast a silencing spell. Slowly,
I fell into a troubled sleep.

A/N 2: OOOOOO! Not quite as platonic as it seems is it? MUHAHAHAHA! Please Review!
