Mates

Draco walked down the streets of Diagon Alley like he had many times before. He was on the lookout to find someone he had let slip through his fingers and wanted a chance to get back. Sure he was still married, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have a relationship on the side. His father had plenty of them, and besides he didn’t love Andrew. Not that he loved this other person either, they were just probably the best lay he had ever had. Not only that, but his husband had lied to him. Apparently Andrew’s grandfather was going to will the families entire fortune away to agrandchild from a woman the man had been seeing on the side. The man had been having an affair during the early stages of his marriage and had produced a baby girl. That girl had grown up and had a son of her own, who would be inheriting everything as the boy’s mother was dead. The real shocker was the boy doesn’t even know he is heir to the entire Knight fortune.

The Malfoys had been furious when they found this out. Andrew’s family had known about the situation with the money, but allowed the wedding to take place so they would have access to the Malfoy’s fortune, which was almost nonexistent thanks to his father’s support of the Dark Lord.

He couldn’t even divorce the man as that was frowned upon by society and the Malfoys had a reputation to uphold. Now he had a son with the other man and all Draco could think about was the one he had been screwing before he married.

Draco was shocked from his thoughts when he saw Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnegan walking toward him. He knew they were friends of the person he was searching for and thought maybe they could tell him where the man was. Deciding to ask them he strode confidently up to the pair.

“Hello Finnegan, Thomas, how are things going this fine day?” He asked trying to make small talk.

“What do you want Malfoy?” Finnegan spat at him. The nerve of the man, he was sorely tempted to draw his wand and teach the man why you never speak to a Malfoy like that.

“Well since you asked, I happened to be looking for Potter. Do either of you know where he is?” He asked trying to be polite.

He was shocked when Thomas glared at him, “Even if we did Malfoy, we would never tell you. You would do best just to leave him alone. He doesn’t want you anymore and we won’t be the ones who let you near him.”

“Well I will be the judge on whether or not he wants me still. How about you bring him to a little party I am having Friday and we will see what he wants.” Draco said smirking at the other two. “You know it would be rude to turn down such an invitation. Something like this could get a person kicked out of St. Mungo’s or cause a person to loose their job at the Ministry.” Judging by the looks of pure hate on the Gryffindor’s faces he knew he had won this one.

“See you two and Potter Friday.” He said as he walked away leaving two very pissed off men in his wake.

Harry about jumped out of his skin when he felt two arms closed around his waist. He had been so caught up looking at books he hadn’t even noticed one of his mates come up behind him. Seeing the sandy brown hair on his shoulder though he relaxed into the comforting embrace. He was shocked to find that after starting the bond both his mates had begun to look younger. The same thing had happened with Sirius and his dad when they had started their bond from what he had been told.

Now Remus’ hair seemed to be losing the gray and some of the wrinkles and worry lines in his face were smoothing out. Severus had gained some color and had lost some of the wrinkles time and stress had inflicted on the man. Severus was currently up at the castle brewing potions for Poppy and watching Brook while he and Remus were in Hogsmede looking for things to use in their class.

He had been shocked by how his daughter had taken to his mates in the three days they had been there. She didn’t mind when she was with either of them and wouldn’t cry to get his attention when he walked into the room like she did with anyone else.

“Have you found anything interesting?” Remus asked as he looked over his shoulder to see what he was reading. He saw the price on the book and knew that neither Severus nor he could afford it as the two didn’t make much as teachers.

While Remus’ family had loved him in spite of being a werewolf, Severus’ had been furious when they found out he had been sorted into Slytherin instead of Ravenclaw like the rest of the family, and had disowned him when the vampire gene that had laid dormant for generations became active in him. As a result Severus’ brother inherited it all and loved rubbing it in his face when they would happen to run into each other on the street.

“Nothing really good.” Harry said as he put the book back. He knew neither of his mates had money. He had tried to get them to use his as his dad had refused to take it back saying that James and Sirius would live off the Black fortune and their teaching salaries. However his mates refused to take it.

“Well we should get back and rescue Brook from Sev, he is probably boring her to death by reading aloud from a potions journal.” He smiled when he heard Harry laugh and couldn’t help himself as he spun the other man around and captured his lips in a gentle kiss. He didn’t think he would ever get tired of kissing his mate.

“Yeah we should go.” Harry said when the kiss had finished. He then held out his had for the werewolf so the two could walk back to the castle together. He was still trying to get used to this whole bond thing, but found he liked being kissed by his two mates.

The two were walking back to the castle when they saw two very familiar figures ahead of them. Harry smiled when he saw his friends and called to them as he ran to catch up to them, not realizing he hadn’t let go of Remus’ hand.

“Dean, Seamus, what are you doing here?” He asked as the two turned to look at him.

“Well, we were coming to talk to you, but Harry, why are you holding hands with Professor Lupin?” Seamus asked as he looked at the joined hands. He then saw his friend blush and knew something was going on between the two. He just wondered what happened to Snape, as last he knew Professor Lupin was dating him.

“That is a long story. We’ll tell you when we get back up to the castle.” Harry said as he smiled at Remus. It was obvious to his friends that he liked the man very much, so the two nodded and walked with them up to the castle.

They were shocked when they were led into the dungeons. “Harry, why are we in Snape’s territory?” Seamus asked as he followed his friend.

Harry just smiled as he pushed open the door to Snape’s personal lab. His almost laughed at his friend’s shocked faces at finding the school’s feared potions master reading to their goddaughter while a potion simmered on the burner.

“I was wrong. He is actually reading to her from a children’s book.” Remus said while smirking at the man with the child.

“Well what did you expect wolf?” Severus asked, though the fondness could be heard in his voice.

Harry just smirked, “a potions journal.” He laughed when he saw Severus’ glare focus on him.

“For your information imp, she seems to take after her daddy and refuses to sit still when I read to her from that.” He almost laughed when he saw the shocked faces of the other two Gryffindors.

“Of course she does. She is just smart.” Harry said while smirking at his taller mate.

Harry just laughed as he and Remus walked into the room. The two walked up to Severus and Remus took Brook from him. Harry let out a startled squeak when two hands wrapped around his waist and he was pulled into the potion master’s lap. “You should watch what you say imp.” Severus said just before he leaned in to kiss the lips of his submissive.

“Someone had better tell us what is going on before we have all of you committed to St. Mungos.” Seamus yelled getting their attention.

“Mr. Finnegan, why don’t you and Mr. Thomas sit down and I will explain everything to you.” Remus said as he conjured chairs for every one and sat with Brook in his lap. Harry stayed in his seat, Severus’ lap, while the other two sat in the chairs. Once everyone was comfortable Remus began the explanation.

“As you both know on Harry’s 20th birthday he went through some changes. It seems Harry is an elf, a submissive one. You also know that I am a werewolf, but what you don’t know is that Severus is a vampire.” He had to stop as the two let out snorts of laughter. He knew that there were rumors about his mate being a vampire, but he also knew that Severus encouraged them. His mate had nothing to be ashamed of.

“How is it he can go outside then?” Seamus asked with a raised eyebrow. He had never really believed the rumors about Snape.

“Severus was not turned like most vampires, he is one of the rare ones who are born with the active gene. Because of this he is stronger than your average vampire, he is faster, and is able to walk in the sun. The only problem is that when he gets extremely angry he is hard to calm. That is what his mate or mates are for. Until now I have been able to keep him under control, but we are both Dominant creatures and therefore need a Submissive. It turns out Harry is ours.” Remus said looking at the two young men.

Seamus just shrugged, “Makes sense, things like this always happen to Harry.” It was then he looked at his goddaughter who was struggling out of Remus’ arms. He smiled when she escaped and settled into his lap. “What about Brook?” He asked as he played with the black curls.

“She was accepted into the bond and now is part of our family. We see her as our own child and will do anything to protect her.” Severus said while smiling at the little girl who had stolen her way into his heart.

Seamus and Dean could only smile at them. It seamed their friend had finally gotten what he deserved. You only had to look at the two older men to see they adored him and his child. Yep he was well on his way to getting what he had always dreamed of… a family.

The two were shocked from their revelry when they heard someone talking to them. “So what are you two doing here?” Harry asked

“We came to warn you about a run in we had today. Apparently Malfoy isn’t over you yet and wants to have you back. He told us that we were to bring you to his party on Friday or he would cause us to lose our jobs.” Seamus said shocked to see the look of anger cross his two ex-professors’ faces. He was even more shocked when he heard Harry’s response.

“Then it is a good thing I am already going.” He had to hold back a laugh when he saw the shocked looks on his friends’ faces. “Severus is Draco’s godfather so he has to go and Remus and I are going as Severus’ mates.”

“Then can we have a little fun with this?” Dean asked sounding more than a little Slytherin.
