Act I Scene V

“Welcome, my lads! There are many ladies here tonight that have feet free of corns and eager to dance. Welcome, lads, back in the day I wore the mask and flirted with the ladies,” Mr. Weasley said, chuckling, “Ah, I am past my prime now. But you are welcome, lads! Play, musicians, play!”

Draco watched from the side as people danced. His eyes found a pretty young redheaded girl.
“Hey, do you know who that fox dancing with the tall dude over there is?” Draco asked a tall, gangly-looking ginger-haired boy.
“Dunno,” the guy said, shrugging and shaking his head. Draco sighed and walked away.
“Damn that girl is hot,” Draco said to himself, watching her dance. Her long red hair shined in the firelight and her dress flowed softly around her knees. “When this song is over I shall touch her hand and, maybe, claim her as mine. I knew not of love, never saw true beauty, before this night,” Draco said softly, his big gray eyes still watching her dance. Harry, who was near by, heard his voice.
“That, by his voice, is a Malfoy! Where is my wand? His ugly smirking face may be hidden by a stupid mask, but he is still a Malfoy! His presence at this party destroys the solemnity we once had, and I swear to Merlin I’ll kill him,” Harry said, his bright green eyes flashing with anger.
“Whoa there, what’s got your wand in a knot?” Mr. Weasley asked Harry.
“There,” Harry said, pointing to Draco. “An enemy, a villain has come to this party to destroy everything we have created,” Harry spat.
“Ahh, young Draco, isn’t it?” Mr. Weasley asked.
“Yeah, that’s the villain they call Draco,” Harry said.
“Ah, leave him be. He is well-mannered young man and many people brag he is a kind and well grounded. I would not for all the galleons in this town kick him out. Be patient, Harry, take no note of him. It is my will, something you should respect. Be a fair presence and get rid of your scowl. It is not needed at this humble party.
“He is a villain! I won’t deal with him!” Harry said, his voice rising.
“Yes, you will,” Mr. Weasley said sternly, “Don’t be a jackass, Harry. Am I the master of this house, or are you? Cut it out, you shall deal with him. You shall not make a mutiny of my guests and start trouble!
“It is a shame for him to be here,” Harry said stubbornly.
“Harry, cut it out. You are a sassy boy, are you not? This trick is not wise for you, you are being rude. Be quiet now or I shall make you.”
“Forced patience with a fuckass like Malfoy makes my blood boil. I shall withdraw, but this intrusion won’t be forgotten.” Harry turned on his heel and swept off through the hall without another word.

As the last note in the song withered and died Oliver Wood kissed Ginny’s hand, flashed a smile with his perfect teeth and made off towards the drinks. Biting his lip, Draco saw Oliver leave Ginny and grabbed her hand, pulling her away from the crowd.
“Wha?” Ginny said, looking back at Draco. He shushed her.
“If I may ask with my most unworthy hand, the holy shrine, this is the sin of a man: my lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand, to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss,” Draco said, his gray eyes boring into her blue eyes.
“Good pilgrim, said Ginny, “You do wrong your hand too much, which mannerly devotion shows in this; for saints have hands that pilgrims’ hands do touch, and palm to palm is holy palmers’ kiss.”
“Have not saint lips and holy palmers too?” Draco asked her.
“Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer,”
“O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do! They pray; grant you, lest faith turn to despair,” Draco said, taking Ginny’s hand.
“Saints do not move, though grant for prayers’ sake.”
“Then move not while my prayer’s effect I take. Thus from my lips, by that my sin is purged,” Draco said before claiming her lips in a breathless kiss.
“Then have my lips the sin that they have took,” Ginny said, smirking slightly.
“Sin from my lips?” Draco asked, “O, trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again,” Draco said, kissing her again.
“You take my words literally, I see,” Ginny said, her smirk more fully forming. Draco followed the suit.
“Ginny! Your mother craves a word,” Hermione said, giving Ginny a look. Ginny dropped Draco’s hand and ran off to her mother, leaving Hermione with Draco.
“Who is her mother?” Draco asked Hermione.
“Her mother is the lady of this house, a wise, kind woman. I must say, he who claims her as his wife shall not go without money.”
“She’s a Weasley?” Draco asked, dumbfounded. “This is- shit. She is my enemy,” Draco moaned, running his hand nervously through his blonde hair.
“Dude, we have to leave,” Theodore said, starting to pull Draco away. Draco sighed miserably.
“Ah, must you leave so soon? We still have more food and drink! If you must, I thank you for coming and bid you good evening.” Theodore and a depressed Draco leave the hall as Mr. and Mrs. Weasley walk off towards their quarters, leaving Hermione and the newly arrived Ginny alone.
“Who is that guy, over there?” Ginny asked Hermione, pointing towards a short man.
“That’s young Abercrombie,” Hermione replied.
“And that man now going out the door?”
“Mister Patil.”
“And what about that guy, the one who wouldn’t dance?” Ginny asked.
“I don’t know,” said Hermione.
“Go ask his name, please! If he is married my grave is likely to be my wedding bed.” Hermione went off, then quickly returned, bearing news.

“His name is Draco, a Malfoy. He is the son of your great enemy,” Hermione said. Ginny moaned.
“My only love sprung from my only hate! I love him so much, why must he be my enemy?”
“…What the hell…?” Hermione asked, dumbfounded.
“A rhyme I learnt even know of one I danced withal,” Ginny moaned again. Someone outside the hall called her name.
“We’re coming!” Hermione called back. “Come, Ginny, every one has left.
