The nightmares begin

The mist filled the foorest as Draco stalked his prey. "Harry Potter!" He growled. "You're mine!" Harry searched the trees, but Draco the wolfish beast was too quick. "You wanna bet." He spat as he shone his wand around the trees. He fired off a few spells. Draco sprang from behind him and slammed into the boy's back sending him into a tree. Harry rushed to swat the stars from his eyes. He was a stationary target. Before he could regain himself however. Draco jumped on him. "Tag, you're it! This game is over." He grinned. He looked at Harry's exposed throat and without a second thought, his fangs bit into it. The blood rushed into his hungry mouth. He drank it like a crazed animal who has starved for days. When he stopped. He smiled. "Well, I'm begging to feel much better now." He was about to resume his drink when company arrived.
A shocked boy who looked exactly like him stood a few feet from him, mouth wide in horror. "What did you do?" The boy remarked to his beast like counterpart. "Draco, I am you." The monster grinned. "You can't hide me forever." The beast began to approach him. Draco was frozen. He saw how horrible the beast looked, and yet, it shared many of his features. He tried to move. He tried to scream out. Nothing worked. He began to panic. The beast's voice turned soft. It whispered in his ear. "I am in your flesh, brought out by the moon, because you deny me in your soul". He felt the beasts claws grab each of his wrists and then the beast began to be absorbed into Draco's body. He thrashed, he tried to stop it, but it was no use. The last thing he heard was his own evil laughter as he stood at the feet of a shock faced, now dead, Harry Potter.
"Noooo!" He screamed as his body jerked awake, he had no idea where he was, but his first instinct was to try and run. As he moved he screamed again as he felt the intense pain of the cuts on his chest. He was panicked, whereever he was, he couldn't defend himself. He was at his captor's mercy. He tried in vain to move again and again, but the waves of pain where much too great.
"Draco, please calm down." Came the voice of Remus Lupin. "Your wounds are not completely mended." He had a tray in his hands and slowly approached the bed. "You need not be frightened of me." Lupin tried his best to smile. He placed a cloth on Draco's head. "We finally got your fever down to a manageable level. You nearly died." Draco closed his eyes. He tried to remember anything that might help his current situation make sense. "Where is Greyback?" Draco asked serious and deadly in tone. "His body was not recovered, he may have survived the fall, but I doubt he'd hang around the school."Draco blinked. "Where am I?" "My home. It's not much, but you weren't safe at the school." Draco pursed his lips. "Why didn't you tell us?" Draco seemed irritated at the question, as if the answer was completely obvious. "Would you?" Remus nodded in understanding.
If anyone knew the risks of being discovered it was him. It was worse now in the time of war, because everyone assumed Werewolves were on the death eaters side. It took alot of convincing for him to be able to stay in key circles. It seemed only dumbledore and a few others actually trusted him. Draco was his charge at Minerva's request. He would have opposed the idea at first, but when he learned what had happened, he saw potential. Draco was smart, understood tactics, he had alot of tools, most on the light side didn't except for Dumbledore. He could see how important this boy could be to tipping the balance back to their side.
He was shocked out of his short thoughts, by a hand grabbing his arm. "Don't tell Harry. Please?" Remus smiled. "Don't worry son, I won't give away your secret, you rest now." He held a glass of water up to the boy's dry lips. He drank some and then closed his eyes, condemning himself to another set of horrid dreams. Remus pulled the covers over him and left the room.
There was no question is any of their minds that Draco was a werewolf. It was the topic of much disscusion and sudden glimpses of insight as to what the otherside might be planning. "Why do you think Greyback bit him?" Hermione asked curiously. "He wouldn't need a reason at all." Harry said assured of the statement. "The creature I saw in the tower, needs no reason to harm someone." Harry mashed his hand through his hair. "I just didn't see this, how could I have been so blind? His burden is much bigger than mine." Harry saw it clear as day now. He always saw Draco as selfish, only caring for his own power, but he had tried to kill Dumbledore to save his parents. Harry's quest was much simpler. He didn't really have any family to protect at all, even though his heart cried vengence, he still had to concede that he didn't know Draco's burden at all.
The day passed and Draco woke, the night stars, and the moon shone the light into his room. He lay awake, he was considering his next move. When he healed, he decided he would go into hiding in london. It wasn't an easy idea, but he knew that his enemies were going to be searching for him. He knew the moment he fought Greyback that he had declared his intentions to the Dark Lord. This meant he couldn't count on the disguise of being a spy anymore. He was now on Potter's side. "Potter." He grunted. If the idiot boy hadn't disarmed him, Draco could have killed Greyback and noone would have known. He growled, frustrated at everything that seemed to go wrong.
A knock came at the door. Draco heard Remus answer it. He cursed angrily at still being bed ridden. He felt his bed move, he angled his eyes down and smiled. "Joshua." The creature came up to him and made itself a small nook beside his injured master. He heard muffled arguing out by the door and distinctly heard, "He's too weak for visitors." He frowned. He was a proud boy, to say he was too weak was the gravest of insults. He gathered his breath. "I'm well enough Remus, who is it?" Draco demanded angrily. He saw a dark form shoot into the room. He tried hard to focus and he was shocked when the moonlight washed across to emerald green eyes, and a very worn looking Harry Potter.
Harry and Draco stood there looking at eachother for nearly a minute, before Draco spoke. "Come to immortalize my grave injuries potter? Perhaps a photo would help?" He smirked. Harry shook. He wanted to turn and run, but he was no coward. He looked at the injuries he had helped cause, he fought back the dam of guilt that erupted in his chest and was trying to force it's way out of his eyes. "I'm really sorry Draco, I didn't know." Draco cut him off. "I didn't expect you too, but you could atleast let me kill someone not affliated with you." The blonde struggled to contain his rage. "I wanted..." Harry began. "Don't potter." Draco's eyes were on fire with all the hatred he was feeling, though it wasn't for Harry, it was, for everything.
"You've never looked passed my walls before, don't do it now. My burdens are mine to bare." Draco clenched his fists. "Always selfish, you think you're the chosen one. The way it stands now, you'll never touch the Dark Lord. All your pity, your sorrow for me..." Harry was in a rage now. "Fuck you!" He spat through clenched teeth and he spun around and left, shoving Remus out of the way. Draco heard the door slam, when it did, it cued the tears of anger he held back. Remus queitly walked up to him. "Why did he do this to me?" Draco cried as he held up his wrist where a distinct werewolf bite was. "Shhhhh." Soothed Remus, "It's going to be alright." Draco wept more for the situation than for himself. He told Harry the truth, he hoped the boy would understand why he had said all those things, but something told him he was wrong.
