Chapter 5
There you go, some background information.
Have fun!
Chapter 5
Ron groaned deeply, while Harry rubbed his temple in an attempt to get rid of the lesson induced headache he got.
“Jee, if that’s how the whole year is going to be I’m not sure I’ll make it.
Maybe you could convince You-know-Who to attack the school now Harry, than we wouldn’t have to worry about this stuff.”
Harry snorted and Hermione rolled her eyes, without even looking up from where she was still
writing down notes as they walked out of the door into the corridor that would lead them from their Transfiguration classroom towards the Great Hall, where lunch awaited them.
“Don’t be ridiculous Ronald. You shouldn’t say things like that.
I personally think she wanted to start of gently, this was nothing compared to what is
described in the later chapters of our book.”
As she was still concentrated on her writing she didn’t notice the horror filled look the redhead
was throwing her.
Harry laughed softly, they were in for 2 quite challenging years, he really needed to start studying
instead of getting through all of his classes by natural intelligence and Hermione’s notes.
The friends walked to their table in silence, all three still preoccupied with the last 2 hours
of MacGonogall’s torture, ähm lesson.
They sat down at their usual seats in the centre of the Gryffindor table.
Few students have come in already as Transfiguration was one of the closest classrooms.
“Harry tell us more about your Mas class, I really don’t want to think about Transfiguration anymore of my head is going to explode.”
Still rubbing his head absently Harry said the first thing that came to his addled mind.
Something that had never been a good idea.
“You should have been there, I’ve never seen something like Malfoy’s music.”
The utter silence that greeted his statement finally made it through the confused fog that
had surrounded the Golden boy’s mind.
Looking up he met stunned blue and brown eyes.
“Malfoy is in your class?” asked Ron in astonishment.
Harry nodded, not sure what exactly he should tell his friends.
“Yeah, not only that, but he’s also friends with my Professor and also something of
a child prodigy concerning the violin and a few other instruments, or so Pani claimed.”
The famous emerald eyes got a little bit hazy as he remembered the colorful spectacle and
haunting tune.
“If you’d have heard him, it was only this test, no instruments, yet he was just awesome.”
Hermione looked at him in curiosity as Ron pulled a disgusted face.
“Argh Harry, it’s Malfoy. Don’t say something like that! Change the topic, how did your test go?”
The Great Hall was slowly filling up, many of the students looking over to their table.
Eyes lingering on Potter and murmuring something. The Gryffindor who had gotten used
to attention didn’t even notice this strange behavior.
Harry smiled at his friends.
His headache was suddenly gone. Weir, Harry thought, he was known for his notorious headaches.
“I passed with flying colors. I’m going to play an Electrical Violin!!”
He couldn’t keep the excitement out of his voice and Hermione hugged him
in belated congratulations. “I’m happy for you.”
She said while Ron watched on in confusion and a bit of jealousy.
“What is an electric?? And why is it so great?”
Just as Harry wanted to start and explain to his friend
the Great Hall doors that had been closed as nearly all students were seated
flew wide open again for some obviously dramatic late comers.
Everybody turned, including the Golden Trio.
Two figures swept through the high oak doors.
A tall woman with flowing black hair and a smaller blond boy.
Pani Asia and Draco Malfoy.
The Hall was silent as all students and most of the teachers stared in surprise
at the strange pair.
Asia’s hands waved elegantly through the air as if to support her side of the argument she
was having with the Slytherin.
Draco Malfoy, glided in beside her with his usual grace, hands behind his back and a
bemused smirk on his handsome face.
As the two of them reached the Slytherin table the pretty Professor gave the boy a kiss on his cheek and proceeded onwards to the teacher’s table.
To the astonishment of all she stopped behind the already seated Potion Professor.
But her next action would probably go into ‘Hogwarts a History’ as the most daring display ever done
during a lunch.
She bowed over the surly looking man and kissed his forehead before she sat down next to him as if nothing happened.
The whole student body gasped, before a few chuckles broke out, hastily silenced as the onyx death glare of Professor Snape promised dire consequences to all culprits.
Harry was as surprised as the rest of the students though his eyes went to the blond boy
that had been left with a similar gesture.
Green and Grey eyes met.
Malfoy grinned and actually winked at Harry.
The Gryffindor couldn’t stop himself from smiling in return to the move and
to the face Snape pulled.
He didn’t seem too surprised at the Music Professor’s action.
Rather annoyed and helpless.
Pani just sat down and acted if nothing unusual was going on.
Though the wicked light in her dark eyes betrayed her.
Before the talking could start though, Headmaster Dumbledore stood and
addressed the students.
“Attention please.” He really needn’t have bothered with a Sonorus, Harry thought
as all eyes and ears were totally focused on the teacher’s table anyway.
“Dear students, as some of you may have already noticed, we have a new staff member.
She was not able to join as in the starting of the year fest yesterday, as she arrived only this morning”
Sometimes Harry was rather sure that the man was totally barmy.
How could anybody not have noticed her? And her absence yesterday was just as obvious.
The old wizard turned to Asia and motioned for her to stand up.
She did so gracefully.
“May I introduce you to Miss Asia Julia Czychon.”
The woman visibly cringed at the way he pronounced her name.
It had no resemblance to the way she had introduced herself to them.
“Professor Czychon is a very talented concert flute player, and it is a great
honor to have her as our new Magical Science of Music teacher.
Something we have to thank our esteemed Potions Master Professor Snape for.
He doesn’t like to publicize it, ..”
The conspiratorial tone and the Slytherin’s darkening face underlined that.
“But our dear Severus is indeed quite the talented musician himself.
He can do wonders on a piano…”
“Headmaster!!” The hissed words brought Dumbledore back from an obviously
fond memory.
Looking at the pale face with red spots on the cheekbones the old man’s
eyes twinkled and he continued as if uninterrupted.
“Well, anyway, he is also the one who talked Asia into joining us.
After all she is his niece and therefore somehow obligated to him.”
He chuckled at that, the rest of the hall stared in astonishment at the two dark
haired Professors sitting next to each other at the Head Table.
Harry felt strangely unsurprised.
When he thought about it consciously the similarity was overwhelming.
The dark look on Snape’s face though bode ill for the Headmaster who had just
disclosed something of the man’s highly guarded private life.
The old man was oblivious to the glare.
“I hope you will all get along well, and I wish all participant in this music class
good luck and a lot of fun.
Please let’s welcome Professor Czychon.”
He started to clap and everybody fell in.
Harry’s music Professor smiled neutrally and then sat down.
Soon everybody turned to their food.
Mostly talking about the new development, interrogating the students who had tried to get
into the class and the ones who had achieved that alike.
