Chapter Five.
Severus caught up to her quickly in the corridor outside the great hall.
“Miss McEwan” he said and she turned to face him, again his eyes were instantly drawn to the swell of her breast visible above that top.
“Professor Snape…” His eyes snapped upwards almost immediately and she smiled knowingly at him.
He walked with her to her rooms in almost complete silence. He had tried to make conversation but found that it was a bit awkward with so many students still in the hallways, so silence it would be then, no problem. It gave him a chance to contemplate his current situation. This woman was leading him to her rooms, she had been flirting with him and she didn’t seem to be intimidated by him. Shit, what the hell was he going to do now this was a very alien scenario for Professor Snape, the greasy bat of the dungeons.
He was interrupted from his thoughts by a voice.
“Professor?”
Snapping back to reality he realised that they were stood outside her door.
“Would you like to come in or do you want to stay in the hallway?” she said with a smirk on her face. She opened the door into a very cosy looking lounge with a large sofa and what seemed to be bookshelves along one side; instinctively he headed towards the shelves. On closer inspection he realised that these weren’t books at all.
“Ah, that’s my CD collection” a voice behind him said “as you can see I have one or two. Would you like a drink?” Severus’ attention was focused on the CDs “Please” he said studying the titles in front of him. They may have all been written in some kind of foreign language because none of the names he read he recognised.
“I’m afraid I don’t have that much to offer, is whisky okay Professor?” the voice came from behind him again and there was a clinking of glass. “That’s perfect and call me Severus” he replied distractedly pulling a box off the shelf to inspect it more closely. The artwork on the cover depicted a tree on a yellow background. Turning it over he began to read the writing on the back. He almost jumped as a glass of amber liquid appeared beside him.
“Hmm, Jack Johnson, not quite Nine Inch nails but still good.” Taking the whisky he turned to her “As you might have guessed I have no idea who any of these artists are Miss McEwan”
“Cat”
“Sorry?” he looked at her somewhat confused.
“Please call me Cat, all my friends do.”
“Very well, I have no idea at all who these artists are Cat.”
She smiled openly “Well, then let me introduce you.”
Several whiskies and Elvis songs later they sat on opposite ends of the sofa discussing her favourite topic, music. Severus was completely blown away by her passion about it all, he couldn’t help but notice how her face lit up and she became so animated. The voice in his head interrupted him
“I wonder if she’s this passionate about other things too”
“Do you fancy something else, Severus?” Cat asked, misreading his glazed over expression as boredom.
“Pardon?” he replied with an expression of shock on his face. Ah, so his mind was somewhere else then.
“Shall I put a different CD on?” she grinned at him.
“It’s up to you, as I said earlier this is all new to me” changing the music she sat back down on the sofa, was she sitting closer to him or was he just hoping that she was?
“This is probably my favourite at the moment. I have to admit to loving Atlantic soul” Severus filed that titbit away for future reference, but what the hell was Atlantic soul? His question was answered a few seconds later.
