AUTHOR'S NOTE
*******************************
Hi all. I decided to add this note to clarify the purpose of this story that presents disturbing view of a young Severus. This is what I wrote on the review page after reading some of the reviews. Many did not like this portrayal of Severus. But sometimes a story has to be told, even if the author does not agree with what the story entails. I wrote this story primarily to show what may have started Severus on his dark path, and one of the reasons why he did not develop any relationships before Hermione came into his life. Heartbreak. Below is the answer I wrote to some of the reviews
********************************
Yes, this was a really ugly story. It had to be ugly to start him on his path. This was a young Snape age 17, never in love before…no experience with women, having only his ideal of the perfect woman and how she should be treated. He believed Sabrina to be this perfect woman, erroneous as that was. He had nothing on which to develop a more well-rounded outlook. Basically he was a boy, becoming a man
He was then shattered by her betrayal with his most hated nemesis, Sirius Black, something he witnessed. His heartbreak was coupled with shame and being laughed at publicly. Then there was the peer pressure to get her back and restore dignity to Slytherin house, or suffer the wrath of his housemates. The bottom line to Snape was Sabrina made him feel and look like a fool to everyone. And that she had purposely deceived him. He wanted to hurt and humiliate her for what he perceived was her tricking him into believing she was his perfect woman. He wanted to hurt and publicly humiliate her like he was hurt and publicly humiliated.
It was a horror what he did to Sabrina, both in his actions and giving the memories for the rest of the school to witness. As wrong as he was, he felt justified. His dark act was praised by his Slytherin peers. Even his headmaster was impressed. It made him popular, feel powerful, put others in awe of him, for all the wrong reasons. For the first time in his life he was somebody other than the strange, ugly, greasy git. It also brought him willing women, whom he used. He had no heart for them anymore after Sabrina. They all became vessels. He found doing evil could bring rewards. It was the beginning of Severus’ descent into darkness.
I’m sorry if this piece was not on par with my other writings, but I wrote it like I wrote it. It needed to be horrible, and it certainly was. Thanks for the reviews.
