Summary: Lucius visits Molly in the hopes of finding out how to get back Hermione.
To all the people who have been waiting since the end of November for me to update. I love you. All of you. I am very sorry that I did not update sooner, however, life got in the way.
To all of you who have just jumped on board. Welcome! It’s a crazy thing I’ve got going on here. It was only supposed to be a one-shot thing, but instead of the bunny just stopping in the trap to eat its carrot, the little bugger grabbed it an ran. With out further ado. Chapter Five.

“But Molly, I swear to you, I did not try to upset her by bringing up Draco. He’s my son, I didn’t want to offend him. I had no clue that in reality Draco could have cared less what Hermione and I did together. I... I just want her back. I need her back.”
Molly stood across the table in her kitchen with a look that could kill. Lucius had showed up on the Burrow doorstep with some beautiful flowers for her, begging for her help. He looked broken and ready to give up and just die, like a small injured animal. It broke her heart just enough that she allowed him to come in.
“I don’t care what you did or didn’t know, Lucius. The fact of the matter is, you mucked everything up and you must fix what you mucked up. You can shower her in gifts, but it won’t help you any because Hermione is not a very materialistic woman. What you need to do is get yourself some pretty, but not extravagant flowers and then ask Draco very nicely to ask Hermione to come listen to your pathetic excuses. Beg for her forgiveness, show her that you are a man and that you can think for yourself. She loves you but you’re breaking her heart keeping her like a pet in the manor and not marrying her. Hermione is a brave woman. She once told me she was happy just knowing you wanted her around and that she would stay happy with just that idea in her head if it was all she could ever have. That isn’t right or fair. You go fix the mess you created and be quick about it or you may lose her forever.”
Lucius’ head dropped. He was doing an amazing job at ruining what little bit of happiness Hermione had.
“If my begging is what it takes to bring her home then I’ll do it. I’ll do anything, Molly, anything.”
“Then go to Draco. He is your only way of contacting Hermione. I once thought that Hermione should be with Ron. In fact up until a year ago I was firm in that belief. When she brought you round for Christmas and I saw that you treated her like gold I realised that I had been wrong all along. You two are perfect for each other. She deserves to be happy, especially after the problems she endured with Remus and losing the baby. You’re her chance at happiness. Please give it to her.”
Lucius rounded the table quickly and hugged Molly before apparating to Draco’s flat.
~~~~~~~
Draco had agreed to attempt to bring Hermione to his and Harry’s flat. He had warned his father that he could very well end up coming home empty handed. Nothing prepared him for the look on Lucius’ face when he walked in alone.
Lucius sank to the floor in tears. He was lost without her and he had practically shoved her out the door with his stupidity. He was nothing if his Hermione was not near, if his Hermione did not want to be his.
“Father, please, don’t cry,” Draco said as he pulled Lucius close and gave him a handkerchief.
Draco begged and pleaded with his father for a good twenty minutes until Lucius had calmed down and accepted the glass of whiskey Harry had poured him.
Harry pulled Draco aside and whispered that he would go to Hermione and reason with her. Harry had never particularly cared for Lucius, but over the course of the five years Hermione had been with him, he had gotten used to and grown rather fond of his husband’s father. He knew now that he was the only chance Lucius had at saving the relationship. Hermione’s only other option was Ron but everyone knew she would never want Ron that way.
“Not that anyone even talks to Ron anymore,” Harry mused silently.
Ron had publicly berated Harry for being gay and loving Draco and Hermione for loving Lucius. Truly, Ron had been angry with Hermione since she had started seeing Remus. Ron was just the go between. She had pity fucked him once, between Remus and Lucius. Ron had known from the beginning that she did not love him and that she was doing this because she felt bad. Then when she came public about being Lucius (something that both Harry and Draco knew long before everyone else) Ron went off the handle. Molly kicked him out of the house with the warning to never comeback unless he was apologising to everyone profusely. Molly had been so embarrassed by Ron’s strange behaviour that speaking of him was forbidden. Ron was now an alcoholic bum who on occasion tried to beg Harry for forgiveness. As far as Harry was concerned having Ron as a friend was dangerous to his husband and himself.
“Hermione would never go back to him. Never. But he’s a danger to her. He’s a danger to us all,” he thought.
Harry strolled out the front door with a smirk on his face, listening to Draco telling Lucius that Harry was going out for milk.
Glass shattered above Harry’s head.
“NO DAMN IT! NO MEANS FUCKING NO!”
“Hermione, you have to. I can’t let him waste away. His eyes don’t have that light in them anymore. He doesn’t care about life if you’re not around.”
Another glass shattered near his head as he pleaded with Hermione to come with him.
“You’re lying. He’s fine. He’ll survive without me.”
“No, he won’t. He threatened to kill himself when Draco walked in alone. I’ve never seen anyone so desolate before in my life. He just sank to the floor and cried. You need him as much as he needs you. I’m begging you Hermione, come back to the flat with me. At the very least hear the poor man out. He loves you very much.”
Harry eyed the glass in her hand and waited for it to come flying at him like the others did. Instead it just slipped from her hand and broke into a million pieces on the floor. Hermione sank to the floor around the broken glass. She beat her fists against it, letting it cut her over and over.
“He doesn’t want me. He doesn’t. If he wanted me he would have never said he needed other people’s permission. He doesn’t care.”
Harry grabbed Hermione and pulled her to him before grabbing the portkey that was always hung around his neck.
“STUDMUFFIN,” he shouted.
Hermione felt the tug of the portkey and then found herself in the one place she did not want to be; The Potter-Malfoy residence.
