Chapter 5- Snape’s Quarters
Ok, some replies to my reviews. I know Harry going into the Girls Dorm really shouldn’t happen, so suspend your disbelief. J This takes place during summer vacation. I will cover that hole in the plot and explain why the Order has taken residence in Hogwarts. So on with the story…keep reviewing all of your ideas positive and negative are great!
Chapter 5- Snape’s Quarters
Same time as Search of Dumbledore’s Quarters:
During their walk down to the dungeons Tonks and Remus kept a watchful eye for any surprises that Snape was kind enough to leave them. Soon they reached a large tapestry of a basilisk, which hisses, “Password” at them.
“Ah, that’s a good question,” murmurs Remus, “What is his password. I forgot to ask Minerva.”
“I doubt she knows. But there is a default password for every chamber in the castle,” mentions Tonks.
“There is?” replies Remus.
“Of course, why wouldn’t there be,” she snickers as she turns back to the basilisk as says “Willy Wonka.” The tapestry melts away to reveal an entrance.
“Willy Wonka, huh, who knows about this “default password”?,” asks Remus.
“Until now just Professor McGonagall and myself and of course now you, love,” admits Tonks. She points at the entrance and goes, “Shall we?”
Remus smiles while extending his arm and says, “Ladies first.”
“Why thank you, kind sir,” she giggles.
They walk through the entrance and down a dim hall that leads to a sitting room.
“This is not what I expected from Severus Snape,” admits Remus as he scans the room.
The room was large and painted a deep blue color. It’s ceiling was silver. A bookcase covered the entire length of a long wall at the back of the room and it was filled to capacity with books. There was a large leather couch in some neutral color in the middle of the room. He had two brown dragonhide sitting chairs, antiques of course; which were set across from the couch. Between the couch in and the chairs was a large coffee table carved out of granite Toward the right side of the room is another door which obviously led to another room.
“The books alone will take forever to inspect properly. Harry said Snape had a habit of writing in his books, “ groans Remus.
“Hell, I want to see the rest of this place. No wonder he didn’t want to stay at Grimmauld Place. These are some digs. When can I move in? Speaking of which, how are your rooms here, Remus? I can’t wait to see them,” Tonks carefully continues.
Remus coughs nervously as he looks around and says, “They’re quite comfortable. I will be glad when Harry is able to settle that legal issue surrounding it. Sirus would hate for Grimmauld Place to go to Bellatrix. It was kind of Minerva to offer me a place. I know she is catching hell from Scrimgeour about me being on the grounds.”
“She knows that you will be fine as long as you take your Wolfsbane. Oh, Merlin, where are you getting it now that Snape is gone?,” asks Tonks.
“You never mind, love. I have been living on the outside of “normal” society for quite a few years. Getting my Wolfsbane from Snape was a convenience only, not a requirement. I have some friends that brew it at a place called the OUBLIETTE. I will take you there sometime. I think you will find it very interesting. Anyway, lets get started,” says Remus.
The pair move from the sitting area to the second room which Snape used for a lab.
“Blimey,” breathes Tonk, “Circe knows what sort of things he was working in here.”
“Or for whom?” finishes Remus.
“What do make of this, Remus. What’s on your mind?” inquires Tonks.
“Let’s just say Snape once again has proven to be more than he appears,” laughs Remus.
“Oh, please translate,” demands Tonks.
“Well,” begins Remus as he starts to look through Snape’s private potions ingredients closet., “He has every illegal ingredient one could need and plenty of each one.” Remus picked up a bottle and read out loud, “Virgin’s blood, how did he get…never mind I don’t want to know.” As he put it back. Remus stood in lab looking around.
“What are you looking for in partincular, Remus,” inquires Tonks.
Remus starts to move items carefully around the lab table. “I’m looking for anything that resemble Snape’s lab workbook. He had to have one somewhere. It might be important,” he points out.
Tonks leaves the lab and proceeds to the bedroom. She shouts back, “Remus! Come in here and look at this.”
Remus follows her into the bedroom and drops his jaw at what he sees. The room’s walls are basically stone. Snape had placed several unicorn tapestries on the walls. In the middle of the room was a large black bed with black and deep blue velvet bedding on it. On the wall to the left of the door was a large wardrobe made of same material as the bed. Remus stepped closer to the bed and started stroking the side rails of the bed.
“It’s made of onyx,” he marvels, “I wonder where he found this.”
Tonks moves over to the wardrobe and opens it. “I suppose this is made of the same stuff,” she concludes. She starts going through the wardrobe. “Remus, he has muggle clothing in here,” she mentions. She pulls out jeans, leather pants, sweaters. Upon inspecting the labels, she notes, “It nice stuff too! Armani suits, Levi jeans…nice pair of leather pants, interesting thought…I never would have pictured Snape in any of this stuff.”
“That is interesting,” says Remus, “What I was going to say before was that during my sixth year I caught Snape and your aunt Narcissa in the Prefects’ bathroom.”
“And what may I ask were they doing, studying for their NEWT’s?” giggles Tonks as she puts the clothing back in the wardrobe.
“Only if there is an oral part to them,” smirks Remus.
“I bet old Lucius wouldn\'t like that,” she says.
“No I imagine, Snape was happy to make Lucius think he took her virginity. I guess we don’t know much about Snape at all. Where would you like to start my dear?” concludes Remus.
“The sitting room and we can work our way back. Do you know what we are looking for, love?” asks Tonks.
“No, but I have feeling we will know it when we see it so lets get started,” he says as he walks back into the sitting room. He begins to look through the first row of books on the bookshelf taking the book off and thumbing through the book and looking in the margins specifically.
“This is going to be a long day…” groans Remus.
