With A Little Help From My Friends
Chapter Five
“With A Little Help From My Friends” by The Beatles
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song,
And I’ll try not to sing out of key.
I get by with a little help from my friends,
I get high with a little help from my friends,
Going to try with a little help from my friends.
What do I do when my love is away.
(does it worry you to be alone)
How do I feel by the end of the day
(are you sad because you’re on your own)
No I get by with a little help from my friends.
Do you need anybody?
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody”
I want somebody to love.
Would you believe in a love at first sight,
Yes I’m certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light,
I can’t tell you, but I know it’s mine.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends.
Do you need anybody?
I just need someone to love.
Could it be anybody?
I want somebody to love.
I get by with a little help from my friends,
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,
With a little help from my friends.

“Miss Granger!”
Hermione continued to stomp along the corridor towards her room; she was in no mood to talk to anyone, males especially. True, her monthly visitor had just graced her with its appearance that morning, but the pathetic wizards deserved it, right?
“HERMIONE!!” Pulled forcefully from her thoughts of revenge against the entire male race, she paused momentarily to allow Minerva to catch up to her. Maybe she could let her in on The Plan…
“You couldn’t stand the stupidity, either?”
“No, I could not!” McGonagall huffed. Suddenly remembering, she added, “But seeing that pitiful look on Severus’ face was absolutely priceless! I think you’ve scared him off, for good.”
Hermione groaned.
“I just wish that he’d grow a backbone! Honestly,” she appealed to Minerva, “if you fancied someone, and they were completely obvious in hinting at them fancying you back, would YOU completely ignore their advances?”
McGonagall paused for a moment, as if seriously pondering the question. “You mean, if I were a wizard and had a young gorgeous witch, twenty years younger might I add, in front of me begging to be shagged?” Hermione smirked. “I do say, my dear, that I would be insane not to take you up on your blatant offer.”
Smiling triumphantly, Hermione held out her arm for Minerva. “I thought I’d order up some tea. Would you like to join me?”
“As long as you’re plotting something.”
Grinning, Hermione replied, “You know I am. Severus has to learn to see that by not shagging me, he’ll have to feel the wrath that he’s brought about with my sexual frustration!”
A mischievous twinkle glittering in her eye, McGonagall queried, “So… Hermione. Tell me, what do you have in mind?”

Severus paced his study, the day’s memories racing through his mind. Hermione really did fancy him, didn’t she? He had hardly noticed, what with daydreaming about her all of the time…
That had really become a problem, his daydreaming. He’d be in the middle of preparing a potion when the sudden thoughts of taking Hermione against the very desk he was working upon would invade his mind. Being rendered temporarily deaf, dumb, and completely randy, his potions would boil over and he’d have to start from scratch.
He really needed to confront her, soon, before she changed her mind…
Severus halted his infernal pacing and walked resolutely out his door, seeking out his fiery lioness.

“You’re fabulous, Minerva! I never realized you had such a devious side…”
“Hermione, I’ve been working here at Hogwarts, with Albus, mind you, for a very long time now. How could I have managed otherwise?” McGonagall said with a falsely sweet smile.
“I don’t think you would have,” Hermione replied with a smile. Then, “Sh! Do you hear that?”
Pulling Minerva into a darkened alcove with her, Hermione cast a concealment charm. Swiftly, Severus came around the corner and tread quickly past the spot where the witches were hidden.
Hermione whispered, “Would you like to do the honors, or shall I?”
“You may, my dear.”
Hermione muttered a few obscure phrases in Latin. Just before Snape turned the corner, Hermione and Minerva could see that the spell had worked.
Once they were sure he was far enough away, the two started cackling maniacally.
“Brilliant, Hermione! I must admit, yours is better than what I had imagined I would do!”
Stepping out of the alcove, Hermione and Minerva began walking in the directly of where Severus had come from for Phase Two.

Just down the corridor from Hermione’s rooms, Severus stopped himself. Yes, he knew what he wanted and, yes, he knew he was going to get it, but to get it he had to be eloquent. Catching his breath and forcing himself to calm down, he took the last few strides over to Hermione’s portrait. He knocked, then waited patiently for a few moments to knock again. Suddenly, a figure appeared in the portrait in front of him, startling him.
“Professor Granger is not in at the moment. Shall I take a message for her, Professor Snape?”
He sighed. “No, it’s quite alright.” Defeated, he retreated back down to his dungeons.
Severus needed a large brandy. Bad.

Giggling, Hermione and Minerva completed the last few spells. Closing Snape’s underwear drawer, Hermione turned to Minerva.
“Could you do the ones he’s currently wearing, for me?”
Minerva grinned wickedly at her. “But of course, my dear!” With a flick of her wand and a few incantations, she motioned to Hermione that they should leave.
Hermione’s hand reached the door handle, about to turn it, when she heard footsteps approaching the same door from the other side! She froze. ‘Bugger!’
Minerva grabbed Hermione by the wrist and muttered a few words to make them completely invisible. The two witches backed as far away from the door as they could, not wanting to be discovered in their present situation.
The door then opened, and Severus shuffled in, headed straight for his large, black wing backed chair. Covering his face with his hands, he let out a long groan.
The hidden women were both trying desperately to hold in their laughter at Severus’ frustration.
Minerva whispered, “That’ll teach the old sod.” Pulling Hermione with her, she cautiously opened the door, which Severus had turned his back to, letting the two of them escape soundlessly.
Once outside and up the hall from the dungeons a ways, Minerva took off the Invisibility Charm.
“And now, Miss Granger, the grand finale at dinner!”
Author’s Note: Evil of me, I know, but I promise that all hell will break loose in the next chapter! You’ll find out what Hermione and McGonagall have planned in the next update.
