Chapter V
The group followed Dumbledore up and down winding staircases, past a plethora of statues and paintings, and through countless doors and still they walked to the lowest recesses of the school. Harry lagged behind the rest, to better observe them. Draco was immersed in a serious conversation with his father which he could not hear. However, he saw that a remark from the elder caused Draco to leave him to walk with Snape. Lucius sighed disappointedly and lagged further behind. He was only a few feet from Harry. Harry coughed pointedly and walked closer to Lucius.
“Mr. Malfoy?”
Lucius turned uninterestedly toward the younger boy beside him. “What.”
“Well…” Harry paused as he considered how best to state his question. “Why are you cooperating with us?”
Again, Lucius sighed. “You’ve heard from your elders in the order about how I had a tendency to threaten and black-mail?”
Harry nodded, eager to hear more.
“Let’s just say there is such a thing as karma. Sirius found out something about me during his…’stay’ at the manor, that I would rather not have disclosed.”
Sirius laughed ahead of them, and began walking backwards to better face the duo. “It’s a riot—really it is. Ah, man….I’ll be laughing myself to sleep about that one for years!” he continued to laugh as he turned on his heel to face forward again. Harry bit his lip in confusion and curiosity.
“Mr. Malfoy, if you don’t mind me asking, what did—“
“I do mind.” He snapped. Harry blushed slightly (despite Lucius’ being degraded and humiliated, there was still something very intimidating about him) and said apologetically, “Sorry…I was just curious, is all.”
“And what did curiosity do to the cat, Potter?”
Harry stopped walking and turned to Lucius indignantly, “Well, I’m not a cat, am I?”
Lucius stopped to face Harry, pulled out his wand and pointed it threateningly to his throat, “Keep it up Potter and you will be.” he said through gritted teeth. Harry stood frozen. It only took the rest a moment to realize they had lagged behind. Lucius’ and Harry’s determined eyes were fixed on each other’s. They only broke their gaze when they heard Sirius yell from some yards away, “And what was that you were doing July 21, 9:23 PM, Lucius…my memory is foggy…”
Lucius narrowed his eyes and put his wand back into his robes. He began walking at a more hurried pace to catch up to the group. “You know, Black—that isn’t going to work forever.”
”Yes, well—it seems to be working quite well at the moment, wouldn’t you say so?”
“Shut-up, Black.” Draco (unexpectedly) interjected, “There’s nothing he can do, so just leave him alone, will you?”
Sirius scoffed, “After what he’s put me through? I hardly think so.”
“Ahem.” Said Dumbledore. They had reached the bottom dungeons….actually, they were more like catacombs. The tunnel they had been walking through seemed to go on forever, only to open up to what looked like a giant hall, much like the chamber of secrets. Various runes and symbols were etched on the walls, floor, and ceiling. When Harry looked at them, he could have sworn they were looking back. Everyone seemed just as awed as he was by the awesome edifice.
“Brilliant.” Lucius said, “Pure genius! This was Ravenclaw’s work, wasn’t it?”
“Indeed; and how did you deduce that, Mr. Malfoy?”
Lucius laughed. “De-ja-vu, isn’t it?” Dumbledore smiled kindly at him. As though reading the minds of everyone in the chamber,” I was still a professor when Lucius attended school. He was one of the most brilliant students I had ever had. He was particularly interested in the history of Hogwarts…I had always thought it was to figure out how to open the chamber of secrets, but I was wrong—it was quite the opposite, really.” He turned to face Lucius who was running his hands across several of the runes, awestruck.
“Well, he just looks like a kid in a candy store, doesn’t he!” Sirius joked.
Dumbledore smiled. “Quite. You see, contrary to popular belief, Malfoys do not possess any Slytherin blood. They are the descendants of Rowena Ravenclaw. It was she who created this chamber—the Chamber of Knowledge—to counteract Slytherin’s Chamber of Secrets. Like Slytherin, an heir is required to activate the chamber. The runes you see…” he pointed to several symbols on the walls, “…are protection symbols…activated by an heirs touch. As you can see, he has already activated several of them. You were always such a worm for knowledge, weren’t you Lucius?” he added, “Always staying after hors in the library…using his inheritance to expand the famous Malfoy library ten-fold. I always thought that he and Miss Granger should have had lunch together…”
Harry laughed along with Remus, Sirius, and McGonagall—all who knew Hermione well. “That is, of course, if they didn’t kill each other first.”
Harry stopped laughing when he noticed Draco, sitting fifty feet away on the stone floor. Harry ran over to him. Draco’s eyes were closed, but he knew Harry was there. “I like it here…it’s nice—quiet.”
“Well, considering you’re Ravenclaw’s great to the hundredth power grandson, I’m pretty sure you can come here when you want.”
Draco smiled and looked up at him—his eyes suddenly sincere, “I’m sorry.”
“Sorry—“Harry sat down next to him,”—what in the world do you have to be sorry for?”
“Everything.” Their eyes were locked, almost longingly, until they were interrupted by a crashing sound. Apparently, Snape and Remus had gotten into an argument, and he left. Snape ran after him. Sirius turned back to the group, befuddled, “Is it just me, or has Remus been very…touchy lately?”
“Yes, he definitely has.” McGonagall added. “And Snape has been unusually agreeable.”
“Maybe they’ve switched bodies?” Tonks added with her hand raised as though she were in class. “No,” Moody responded, “Sirius would have noticed.”
“I don’t know, Moody—Sirius isn’t the most perceptive person in the world.” Lucius added with a grin. He had finished activating all the runes.
“Okay, you know what Malfoy?” Sirius snapped as he turned to face Lucius. “Bite me.”
“Tempting, but no.”
“Oh, shut-up! Your incessant bickering is driving me mad!” Screamed Narcissa as she gripped her blonde hair in frustration. “I’m sure it’s nothing serious, they’re just disconcerted—we all are. Let it go—we have more important things than minor personality alterations to attend to.”
“She’s absolutely right.” Dumbledore said. “It has been a very long couple of days—we should all get some sleep. Breakfast will be served late. Good night everyone.” And with a swish of crushed velvet, he left the magnificent chamber. Sirius followed suit—exhausted—toward Remus’ private quarters. Moody, McGonagall, Narcissa, and Tonks left together. Lucius sighed and turned to the two remaining boys. “Draco—if you need me, I’ll be in the quarters nearest the astronomy tower.”
Draco quirked an eyebrow, “What are you staying there for?” Lucius sighed over-dramatically, and said with a false air of excitement; “I’m going to be Hogwarts’ newest Latin teacher!” he rolled his eyes and continued in his normal tone of voice, “a kind of probation/punishment, if you will. I don’t think I’m allowed to leave the castle from now on, actually.” He turned to depart to bed. He paused half-way up the stairs and turned to Draco. “Get your rest—you’ll need it for tomorrow. Lupin, Snape and I are meant to start training you in the afternoon.”
“Goodnight,” Draco responded insincerely and watched his father retreating figure, until he heard the door shut itself. He sighed and turned back to Harry, “Well, I’ll see you tomorrow, I suppose.” Harry nodded. Before Draco reached the exit, Harry stopped him. “Do you regret it?” Draco assumed he was talking about the kiss (snog-session, really…) that they had shared earlier, and was absolutely correct. “Honestly…” he began apprehensively, “no.”
Harry smiled in relief. He had never noticed how beautiful Draco looked when he was tired before. His eyes relaxed from their typical, day-time sharpness, into a gentle almond shape. His sharp jaw line seemed more natural, when it was not bearing a forced sneer, and his silver hair fluttered gently over his mercury-eyes. Harry lifted a gentle hand to his cheek, and brushed his silver hair away from his eyes. “Do you have any idea how beautiful you are when you’re not trying to be someone you’re not?”
Draco smiled, closed his eyes and pressed his cheek into Harry’s cupped hand. He sighed and opened his eyes to seductive slits. He put his arms around Harry’s neck and pulled him into a blazing kiss. He responded by placing his hands about Draco’s narrow hips, and pushing him up against the stone wall. A stone was jabbing uncomfortably into Draco’s back, but he didn’t care anymore, when Harry began to lick his bottom lip; begging for entrance. Draco acquiesced and parted his soft lips, ever so slightly, to allow Harry’s slick tongue to ravish his mouth.
He explored every inch of Draco’s mouth with his tongue, making Draco groan and press his hips more firmly into Harry’s. His breath hitched as his pelvis responded to the sudden contact by thrusting against Draco’s—eliminating whatever distance there was between them. Draco gritted his teeth and threw his head back in pleasure while Harry began biting his neck. It hurt sharply for a moment, until Harry would begin to suck where he had just bitten his sensitive, cream skin and ravished him once more with his tongue.
“…oh gods, Draco…” Harry groaned as his pants began to feel uncomfortably tight in the crotch. Draco must have felt the pressure against him, because he moved his hands down from Harry’s neck, slowly, across his flat chest; making Harry groan even more, until he reached the lip of his jeans. He forcedly unbuttoned his jeans to free his aching erection. Harry moaned when he felt Draco’s hand grasp his shaft firmly. Harry looked back up at Draco with fire blazing in his eyes, and fell into him, pulling his lips against his own. As their tongues began to writhe together, Draco pressed his thumb, hard, against Harry’s weeping erection, and began to thrust his hand up and down his shaft.
Harry’s mouth broke from Draco’s as he exclaimed his name, and began panting in time with the thrusts of Draco’s hand. Just when he felt he couldn’t hold it anymore, Draco pulled his hand away from Harry’s member and placed them back on his hips. Harry’s eyes closed in pleasurable agony as Draco gently kissed his forehead. He pushed him up against the wall for support, and kneeled down before Harry. He wanted to taste him. He wanted to feel him shudder as he came. Draco took Harry’s erection into his mouth--Harry grabbed onto the shoulders of Draco’s shirt and pulled the soft, black fabric into his fists to keep from falling as Draco’s hot, slick tongue glided over his sensitive head.
Draco took more of Harry into his mouth and his knees almost buckled. Harry began to involuntarily thrust into Draco’s throat until he came, shuttering, with imprisoned ferocity. Draco pulled his mouth back slightly, and sucked the remnants of Harry’s pleasure. When he pulled back, Harry slid down the wall until he landed with a thud on the stone floor.
“Fuck, Draco…”
Draco smiled, conniving, and leaned up against Harry and began gently kissing his neck as his hand gently played with the buttons of his shirt. “Shhh….”
Harry sighed in content and pressed his head into the crook of Draco’s shoulder. Draco kissed the top of his head affectionately. “Do you think anyone would believe us if we told them?”
Harry laughed softly, and his response was muffled as he nuzzled closer into Draco. “Who cares?”
