Hogwarts, Slytherin Common Room. 10:00 p.m. November 2.
The common room was empty except for Pansy Parkinson. The short-haired thirteen-year-old was sitting quietly, wearing her pajamas, working on a long-overdue Divination report in front of the flickering fire.
That’s when Adrian burst in, her cheeks flushed with anger and streaked with tears. She threw herself on one of the dark green leather sofas and tried to get her sobs under control.
Pansy looked up from her work. “It wasn’t that bad, was it?” she asked in a nearly monotone voice.
Adrian sniffled piteously. “It was too.”
“What happened?” Pansy dutifully put down her quill and gave her best friend her full attention. “He didn’t actually try to bang you, did he?”
Adrian had to laugh a little. “No... But he had me cleaning his storeroom, and when I was putting a box back on a high shelf, it just... it just flew out of my hands! I swear I had a firm grip on it! But it just crashed right on the ground.”
Pansy raised an eyebrow. “And...? I don’t see why this would upset you so much.”
Adrian dabbed at her eyes with the edge of her sleeve. “It sure upset Snape. He was so mad he gave me another detention tomorrow. During dinner,” she added bitterly.
Leaning her head on her hand, Pansy gave a wry smile. “You’ll live. You’ve been through worse.”
“Oh yeah? Like what?”
“Hmm...” Pansy smoothed her shiny black hair thoughtfully. “You slept with Percy Weasley that one time.”
Adrian flopped onto her back. “Oh, God,” she moaned. “That was only because he agreed to do all my homework for a month.”
“Was it worth it?”
“Hah! I’ve done third years with bigger wangs.”
Adrian never agreed to sleep with anyone younger than a third year. She might have been a slut, but she wasn’t a pedofile. Not that there were many third years interested in that kind of thing-- but there were enough that Adrian made that little rule.
Pansy chuckled a little. “So... any prospects for your next boyfriend?”
The seventh-year sighed. “Not really. There’s not many people left, unless I start going younger.”
Pansy lowered her gaze and sucked on the end of her quill, which happened to be a Sugar Quill from Zonko’s Joke Shop. “Um... I wasn’t really supposed to tell you this, but... I know a third year who has a crush on you.”
Adrian rolled her eyes. “Pansy, I don’t care. Everyone has a crush on me.”
“But this one’s not a loser. You might want to consider him.”
“Who is he?”
“...Draco Malfoy,” Pansy admitted at last.
“Malfoy.” Adrian fell into a thoughtful silence.
“Yeah. And it’s really an understatement to call it a crush. He loves you. I mean, he loves you. He’s been delirious over you his whole time at Hogwarts.”
Adrian narrowed her eyes. “I thought you liked him.”
The slightest trace of a blush crept into Pansy’s pallid cheeks. “W-Well... I do. But for three years, the only girl he can talk about is you.” She smiled. “So for my sake, just go out with him for a while so he can move on!”
“You’re such a sweetie, Pans,” Adrian cooed.
The third-year rolled her eyes. “So what do you think?”
“Well, he is cute. Maybe even sexy, when he’s angry,” tittered Adrian. “And his bloodline is as pure as it gets.” She paused, and giggled. “Plus, he’s rich.”
“There you go,” Pansy said. “Three solid things going for him.”
Adrian stood up. “I’ll think about it. And if I do go out with him, I’ll be sure to say lots of nice things about you,” she added, winking.
Pansy blushed. “I’d like that.”
“Well, thanks for cheering me up, Pansy. I’m going to bed now.”
“Okay. G’night.”
“Night.”
Because of their age difference, Adrian and Pansy slept in different rooms, so they spent most of their time together in the common room. Adrian made her way into the room she shared with four other seventh-year girls, who were already asleep in their beds. Mary Jackson, Christine Redwood, Evelyn Tacks, and Opal Francesco, girls she’d been stuck with since first year. They were a tight-knit group, and they barely spoke to Adrian. Oh sure, they treated her with respect, and maybe they wanted to be her best friends, but it would never happen. She was part of an entire different social class.
She changed into her pajamas, crawled in bed, and drew the curtains around it, leaving just a little crack for the moonlight to slant through.

Notes: A 13-year-old boy dating a 17-year-old girl. Do you think that\'s too far-fetched? Well... if anyone could pull it off, it would be Draco, right?
