Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Three months later Hogwarts was still the same. The teachers were busy keeping their young charges safe, the Order of the Phoenix organised backup plans and directed his spies. Lierin didn't cry anymore and stuck to her father like honey to a piece of (sour) bread. At least the youngest Weasley put it like that. The special DuplumPotion, like Dumbledore called it, had been given to the spy, Draco Malfoy.
Now they waited.

Severus Snape was bathing his little whirlwind of daughter. She splashed and giggled, ignoring the dark haired wizard who tried to clean her dirty hair. She hadn't liked the tomatoe soup at dinner and announced her dislike quite clearly by splattering it around. His giggling colleagues had have to bear the most damage, getting spluttered with the red stuff this time, he himself had only gotten the soup into the face. Nobody had dared to laugh openly at him. One second year Gryffindor had murmured something about "vampire' and "fitting'. Well, Severus would present him the bill for this comment in the next potions lesson.
As much as lierin distasted tomatoesoup, she didn't like having her hair washed either.
"Now, come on Lierin.."
Severus wished for another pair of hands and shoved a funny yellow rubber duck into the child's hands to occupy her. He had changed most of her toys back to their original colour and shape after he overheard a third year Ravenclaw mocking that Lierin would grow up liking skulls and dull coloured stuff. Children like bright colours. So be it.
Half an hour later the whirlwind had lost his energy and was sleeping peacefully in her cradle, a forest green and bright blue nightlight with dragons and serpents at the commode.
Once again Severus tried to correct some essays.
Then somebody knocked on his door. He had to open; it could be a student who needed help.
It wasn't a student but a man in a dark travelling cloak, the wet hood hiding his face, a broom at his side. He raised his head and emerald green, concerned eyes met black. Snape snorted and showed one of his most nasty sneers.
The hood was pushed back and revealed a famous scar.
And silver white hair.
