Avoiding

Remus noted without surprise that Snape was gone when he woke – and also
noticed that he had obviously been the bed\'s only occupant. A tangle of
blankets on the couch showed where Snape had slept.

He found the clean towels Severus had left for him and swiftly showered and
dressed. As he headed into breakfast, he was also unsurprised that Snape
was absent.

Ah well. There was the weekend. And he was definitely ahead of Sirius.

Remus almost missed Snape arriving on the weekend. He chuckled to himself. Severus was definitely starting to feel hunted! However, it is rather
foolhardy to doubt the tracking prowess of a wolf. Or a werewolf, for that
matter.

He finally unearthed him in a dusty bedroom, sneezing as he tried to
meditate himself into Limbo. \"It won\'t work, Severus. You know, sneezing
won\'t help you relax. Neither will this room. And you can\'t avoid me
forever.\"

Snape\'s eyes snapped open. \"I have not been avoiding you. Avoiding you
implies that you are significant enough for me to want to avoid you.\"

Remus blinked. That hurt. Surprisingly, it hurt quite a bit. \"Then why
are you here?\"

Snape sighed. \"To contact Black. Obviously.\"

\"I mean here in this room. Rather than in the other one.\"

\"Because I don\'t want to toss you out of your bed.\"

\"Like I tossed you out of yours?\"

\"I chose not to share a bed with a werewolf. One thing I\'ve learned in life is never to wake any sort of canine up suddenly. The sofa was the safest choice,\" said Snape, and the thought crossed his mind – safe for whom?

\"The bed was big enough for the both of us.\"

\"Speak for yourself. You have no idea just how big a wolf you are – and how far you can sprawl.\"

\"Oh. Please, Severus. Don\'t try to do the impossible alone.\"

\"Impossible is trying to make you and Black see that what we are doing is
dangerous. Impossible is trying to put all the clues together to make a
whole. Impossible is trying to work with people who don\'t trust me.\"

Remus looked chagrined. He had no idea that Snape had felt like that, that
he had felt as dy aby about it as he obviously had. \"I know what we are
doing is dangerous. Remember, I\'ve been taking as many risks as you have. Neither of us is what you might call \"acceptable\". As for the rest, allow
me to help. You and I both know I can put clues together. We\'ve done it
before. As for the trust, Severus, that has to be earned. Perhaps if you
didn\'t…\"

\"Stop trying to give me advice, Lupin! I will accept your help; you may
find something I\'ve missed. I hope so, because what I\'ve discovered to date makes no logical sense.\"

\"Then trust me enough to use somewhere comfortable to get into Limbo.
Please.\"

Snape sighed. Obviously, Lupin was not going to let up on this. *Fine*.
If it made the damn werewolf happy and made him stop *pestering* him, then he would.

Did Lupin have absolutely no idea how adorable he looked when he pleaded? When he first woke up? Damn, damn and double damn.
