That night all Ten ordered food into their own quarters. Gathering in the Magis’ flat, they were served a meal of magnificence, specially prepared, for the ‘most amazing Wizards and Witches on the planet’, according to Dobby, who staggered under the weight of the dishes he served. A Chinese feast. For his Mr Harry and his boyfriend and his best friends. They all sent their heartfelt thanks, then set about the feast with gusto. If this was to be the last meal they all shared, then better make it a good one. And it was. Before long, all were feeding each other. Morsels from chopsticks, forks. Not just to their lovers, but randomly around the Ten, as if to show off their bonds. For a moment all remembered what each looked like naked. They all giggled, the sexual tension increasing.
Until Draco could discern which way this was all headed, then pulled away. {NO!}, he sent sharply. {I can’t do this again. Sorry Harry}. He sat out, his head in his hands. In seconds, Harry had his arms around him. The mood cooled after this. Then the other eight retired. Together.
Draco curled tight into himself, {Sorry, Harry. I just can’t}. Harry was secretly glad of the excuse not to join in and held his Dragon, soothing him, {Ssshhhh, my love}, he laid a finger across Draco’s lips, {I didn’t want to repeat the other night either. I just want you and only you}. Draco gazed into those deep green depths and started to drown, until Harry brought him back with a kiss that stole their breath away. Their little one asleep in her cradle. Her parents made love deep into the night, seeing the dawn rise before sleeping, twined around each other.
The night had actually been equally chaste for their co-warriors, all pairing off and retiring to their individual quarters as they left the boys’ apartment. Kissing each other goodnight. Various people yawning. Hugs, cuddles, then all separated. Hermione sent sleepily, {I think the boys thought we wanted a repeat of the other night}. Lavender sent in reply, {Well, it rather looked like it for a moment. Felt like it too, if I’m honest}. Her Elemental kissed her and they all split up.
The storm was quieting. Hermione and her bond-mate looked out at the last of it holding each other, remembering the night they first got together. They breathed deeply of the ozone smell coming through the open casement and kissed gently. Hermione leaned her tired head on Ginny’s shoulder, {Take me to bed, Girlie}. The redhead complied and they held each other until sleep claimed them both.
Hermione slipped out to the lab in the early morning light feeling refreshed. She checked on the Truth Serum again. It was taking longer than she’d expected. The asphodel root decoction had taken longer than usual to ferment, but now all was ready. A few more hours simmering and her and her Girlie could consecrate it. She thought back to Ginny’s words of earlier. Neither of them wanted to witness the death of Lucius Malfoy, but if that’s what it took. She sighed and rolled tired shoulders. Took one last look then locked the lab behind her. As an afterthought, she fixed a note to the door, requesting that no-one else enter the lab before tomorrow. She appended, ‘Sorry Severus, but the Potion is at it’s most delicate right now. I feel shit for locking you out of your own lab, but it’s only for a few hours. Forgive me, H xx’.
She slipped back into bed, warm sleepy arms holding her, sexy half-asleep lips kissing her. She rolled into the embrace and claimed her beautiful Girlie every which way until the sun was fully up. They bathed and went down to breakfast in a loving haze. {Tonight, my love, we put the Serum together. No witnesses needed this time. But we do this sky-clad. As we should have done the Warrior Potion. No explosions this time either, all being well}.
At breakfast, Severus acknowledged her note with the promise that he would stay away as requested. Remus glanced at his lover, {She has you around her little finger, doesn’t she?}. Severus grinned at him through lowered lashes, {Yes. Completely and utterly. I cannot deny it. I’m not in love with her, but I love her with my life. I owe her so much, and she brushes it off like nothing. As far as she’s concerned, there is no debt, but I feel it to the core of my soul. I will do anything to help her and hers}. Remus nodded as he sank his head to Severus’ shoulder, {Me too. That night spent under the full moon was worth more than rubies to me. I do hope she doesn’t have to kill anyone. I sensed her distress earlier and what it meant. They’re kids, Severus. They shouldn’t have to handle all this by themselves}. Severus looped an arm around his lover, {They don’t. They have all of us. And we two are blood-bonded to all of them. We may not be much use in the Battle, but we can help clear up the mess afterwards}. Remus ruefully agreed. They went to relieve the Watch bidding a cordial ‘Good Morning’ to all as they left.
Harry was feeding Cariad as they left. Draco watched them go, his head leaning on his steepled hands. {You know, those two would have made a valuable addition to our circle of Ten}. Harry didn’t raise his eyes, but sent back, {I’m sure they would, but can you imagine having to do the Ritual with those two present?}. Draco laughed and turned to his bond-mate, kissing him, {Hmm no. Perhaps not. Though I still think there’s a valuable part that they may yet play...}, he let his send trail.
The Ten spent a lazy afternoon out in the grounds. The day was sunny and warm after the storm, although the grass was damp. Seamus ventured, {Shall we try that flying stuff?} to many yeses. Hermione was deeply sceptical. {C’mon, guys, the only flying I do involves in-flight movies and magazines in the back of the seat in front of me. A stewardess telling us how to put on life-jackets. That sort of thing}. Ginny grabbed her, {Come on, you, we’ll keep you safe}. Hermione pulled from her lover’s grasp, {No way, Girlie}. She felt Harry beside her, then Draco, {Come on, ‘Mione. Let us try this, all of us}. She hid her terror by lowering her face into her hands, {Which part of ‘no’ don’t you understand?}.
Harry took the lead and sent to Ginny, {We’ll put her between you and me}. Harry clasped her right hand, Ginny her left. With total terror in her heart, she felt herself being dragged forwards by the line of Ten. Many were fliers. She dug her nails into the two hands holding hers and shut her eyes tight, She heard Harry’s sent instruction, {Now all run forward and on my count of three, all kick off into the air}. They all ran and Harry did the count-off, and as one, ten people lifted effortlessly into the air.
To cheers from the various folk who had gathered to watch, faces turned up in amazement. Albus clapped his hands together, knuckles stuffed into his mouth. He grinned around them, sending, {That I should live to witness such a phenomenon...}.
Severus and Remus were patrolling the edges of the Forest when the Ten flew overhead and looked up, stunned. Severus was breathing rapidly as he witnessed. The others were all enjoying it, but Hermione had her eyes squeezed shut, clearly terrified. He sent, {Open your eyes, Hermione. You all look good from down here}, he sent a chuckle along too. As they dipped and flew, he noticed her eyes squint open, then open fully, her mouth widen. {You’re doing great. Don’t be afraid. I was a crap flyer myself. Terrified of heights. But you have two of the most accomplished flyers at Hogwarts flanking you. Trust them}. She sent her thanks and allowed herself to relax, slightly relinquishing the vice-like grip she had on Ginny and Harry.
They all spun about for a while longer then came in to land. Harry and Draco slowed them all, but even so, some landed clumsily. Ron and Blaise finessed perfect landings. Hermione was landed softly, between two of the School’s best flyers, but the other non-flyers didn’t fare so well, but there were no broken limbs. All landing reasonably safely, the blood in their cheeks and joy in their hearts. Seamus sent, picking himself up from the ground. {Wow}, this seemed to sum it up for all of them, including Hermione.
She was glad to be on terra firma once more. She hugged her thanks to Harry then her Girlie, kissing her senseless. Ginny drew away slightly, {What made you decide to trust us. Me and Harry?}. Hermione giggled, {Severus. He reminded me I had two of the best flyers with me, and that he too was a crap flyer. I dunno}, she shrugged, then smiled at her beloved. {It was fun. Just something I don’t want to repeat too often. I’m sorry, baby, but a flyer, I ain’t}.
All of a sudden she was enveloped in Ron’s arms, {Hey. We’ll make a flyer of you yet, ‘Mione}. She held him tight, {I don’t think so, but it’s great that we an all do this broomless flying thing, isn’t it?}. He held her tighter, {It did me good, ‘Mione to see you in the air today. I thought you were a complete lost cause where flying was concerned}. She grinned and sent the send from Severus. {That’s why I opened my eyes}, she giggled. But felt humbled in seconds as she pulled away from Ron. Here was an instance where she could actually be a liability to her bond-mates. Here was another instance where she stepped back. The thought made her smile slightly.
They all ate dinner together, laughing over the afternoon’s exploits. After dinner, the girls slipped away. Hermione sent to her Magi, {Tonight, Ginny and I join the Heart’s Truth Serum parts together. Tomorrow, Harry, call him to us and we will answer. We will be ready}. Harry went slightly cold at her send and let out a long breath sinking his heads into his hands.
Various folk noticed, sending their concerns until he revealed exactly what their Elemental was up to tonight. Guarded looks passed between them. Neville voiced the thoughts of all when he sent, {She may be a crap flyer, but when it comes to potions and magic, there’s none that can surpass her}. Harry grinned, {Well, perhaps on the Magic front, we’re stronger, but so far, her Potions haven’t failed us. She’s a fucking genius and the best Elemental we could have ever hoped for}. At that, everyone raised their drinking vessels and toasted: to absent friends. They all drank in her honour.
The girls were oblivious, slipping into the lab, locking the door, slowly removing each other’s clothes, standing naked in the slightly chill air of the lab. Hermione waved her right hand creating a warming charm around them. She pulled her Girlie to her, kissing her long and soft, arousing her, before pulling away.
{This is the ultimate God Potion. If you harbour evil in your heart, then poof, you die}, she sent, her eyes misting. She was afraid, felt too small and inadequate to wield magic such as this.
Ginny moved into her arms again, offering herself, all the love she could give, laying her Missy over the bench, taking her, {I know}, her lover’s breathless send into her mind as she felt her lover clench around her fingers in release, following moments later, crying out and gasping in her Missy’s arms.
Before their ardour cooled, Hermione took blood from both of them, adding it to the Potion. She shrugged as she licked her lover’s wound closed, {Can’t hurt, can it?}. Ginny giggled as she curled into Hermione’s side. {Guess not, babe. Come here, I need to kiss you. I need you, my love}. Hermione looked into that burning gaze and capitulated. To her beloved and the forces that drove them this night. Making love to her again. No games, just mouths tongues and fingers until both moaned into each other’s mouths, coming round each other’s fingers, buried deep.
They gradually untangled and finished the Potion, taking it off the stove and decanted it, sealing it. The Heart’s Truth Serum was ready. All of their love and best intentions had gone into the joining together of this Potion, but both shared a sneaking suspicion about it. As they made love again across the bench, the bottle beside them, they concentrated their energies at it. As Hermione came again, she flipped the cap breathing her ecstatic breath into it, murmuring a final incantation, then sealed it again. It was truly ready. So were they. They smiled in each other’s arms as their breathing normalised.
In a daze, they cleaned up the lab. This was the final Potion. The very last. Hermione shed a few tears at the thought that this might be the last time in this lab. She shut the Potion into the fridge with a ‘Do not touch’ label around the neck of the bottle. They extinguished the lights and Hermione carefully locked the lab. With a heavy heart she followed her Girlie up to bed.
