Harry's Disappointment
Hermione raced up the stairs after Draco and Luna. Part of her wanted to laugh and the other part was worried about her friend. Luna had told her earlier that she thought she was in labor but she hadn’t wanted to miss the party so she kept it to herself. Hermione figured if she was still standing and acting normal she was probably fine and hadn’t made a big deal out of it. She had no idea that Siri would push the matter along with his little stunt.
Luna was still calm but she heard Draco’s muttered, “bloody hell,” and then Luna say, “I am so sorry, Draco,” before he walked into a guest room and put her on the bed. He stood back up and the front of him was soaked. Hermione snickered and then closed her mouth when Draco glared at her. Luna’s amniotic sack had broken and soaked Draco.
“Don’t you dare, Hermione!” he hissed as he swept out of the room. “I’ll go find your husband,” he said to Luna.
When he left the room both Hermione and Luna giggled. “I can’t believe that happened.”
Hermione snorted with laughter. “Which part? Siri and the punch, him plowing his father over, or you soaking Draco?”
“All of it,” she laughed. “Oh, that hurts!” she said holding her belly.
“Lets get your out of those robes. I need to check you. If your water broke, I’ll bet that the baby will follow fairly quickly,” she said flicking her wand and removing Luna’s formal clothing for a nightgown.
“Where is Ron, anyway?” she asked.
“He and Neville ran to the twin’s shop to get a gift for Siri. They knew that he liked those colored beans and thought to bring him some more,” she said with a groan.
“Harry will find them, don’t worry about it.”
“God’s Mione, Harry is as pregnant as I am! He isn’t going to want to go searching for those two anywhere!”
“Just relax now. Let me check and see what’s going on.” Hermione waved her wand and mutter a couple of diagnostic incantations and then smiled. “You are moving along quite nicely and your blood pressure is steady. The baby’s heartbeat is steady. Everything is perfectly normal. I want to look and see where the position of the head is. I need to wash up first though. I’ll be right back,” she said going into the bathroom.
A moment later Hermione returned and smiled. “This won’t hurt at all, so just relax a bit.” Hermione pulled on gloves and gently pushed Luna’s legs further apart. “I can’t see the head yet, but you look close. When I push into your cervix I can feel that she is down into place and my guess is this is going to be fast,” she said.
A knock on the door was heard and Hermione quickly covered Luna and called, “Come in!”
Severus Snape stood in the doorway. “Draco said that Mrs. Weasley has gone into labor. Do you need anything?”
Hermione looked at Luna who smiled in relief. “Professor, do you have any pain potions?” she asked as she gaped through a contraction.
He nodded and reached into his robe pocket. “With so many pregnancies around here I have carrying this stuff everywhere that I go. Adrienne and I just found out today that she is going to have a baby as well,” he said with a smile.
“Congratulations, Professor!” Hermione said with a grin.
“You can call me Severus, you know,” he said. “We are family now.”
Hermione nodded her head. “I know, but I have called you professor for so long that calling you anything else seems strange.”
“Hey, what about me!” Luna demanded.
Severus shook his head and handed Hermione the vile. “If you need anything else, let me know. I’ll be downstairs. Harry is dealing with Sirius and Draco left to go and get Mr. Weasley and the elder Weasley’s. He is fit to be tied that his party has been ruined. I don’t envy Siri when his father gets a hold of him later.”
Hermione tried to hold back her laugh, but when Luna started snickering and then Severus started to laugh the next thing she knew the three of them were roaring with laughter. That is how Ron found them moments later.
“Hey! What’s going on here?” he demanded. “Are you alright, love? Malfoy said you were in labor!” he cried.
“I’m fine, love. The baby is coming, are you ready?”
Ron paled. “I don’t have to watch do I?” he demanded slowly turning green.
Luna smiled. She knew that Ron had a queasy stomach. “I would like it if you held my hand. It makes me feel better when you are here,” she said softly.
Ron melted like butter on hot corn. “Of course I’ll be here! Where else would I go?” he asked leaning down to kiss her softly on the lips.
“Where are they?” they heard Molly Weasley shouting from the hallway.
“In here, Molly,” Severus told her as he left the room.
“Oh dear, are you all right, Luna?” she asked rushing over to the bed and hugging her daughter-in-law.
“I’m fine, Mum,” she said with a smile. “Hermione said that it shouldn’t be to long now,” she moaned as another contraction hit her.
Siri had showered and put on clean clothes, making sure that they were ones that his father would find acceptable. He wasn’t about to push him any further today. He layed down on his bed and waited for him to come. He knew he was in for it now. His father liked to lecture, and he was sure that this was going to be a long one. He hoped that Zozo wouldn’t get in trouble for his actions.
Harry stood in the doorway watching his son’s face. Part of him had been entertained by Siri’s antics, but the other part of him had been disappointed. He had realized that by laughing and encouraging Siri’s behavior he had been disrespecting Draco and not taking his feelings into account. He had ignored Draco’s feelings and beliefs thinking that they were wrong because they were different from his own. He realized his mistake and needing to find a way to rectify the situation. He loved Draco, and he loved his son, so some way he needed to find a middle ground that everyone could live with.
“Sirius,” Harry said sitting down on the edge of his bed.
“Dad,” he said in surprise. He had been expecting his father. He grinned in relief not noticing that his father had called him Sirius instead of Siri.
“I am very disappointed with you today,” Harry began.
Siri’s grin immediately left his face. He hadn’t expected that kind of reaction from his dad. “Dad?”
“You knew how important today was to your father. He has worked hard to make today a special day.”
“Its just a dumb old party, dad,” he pouted.
“To you, it may be just a dumb old party, but to your father, and to all of the orphans who will be receiving the items collected today, it was an important event. Those children don’t have two parents to spoil them and buy them their basic necessities. They are stuck in an institution by themselves with nobody there to love them. When they have a bad dream at night, they don’t have parents to come and make them feel better. When they out grow their shoes, they can’t just go to the store and buy a new pair. They have to hope that someone will donate some. Most of the time, they don’t even receive new items; they get the old stuff that other kids no longer want. To them, this party might have given them a new pair of shoes or robes that would keep them warm through the winter.”
Siri felt tears of shame burn his eyes. “I didn’t mean to wreck the party, dad.”
“I know that you didn’t mean to wreck it, but nonetheless, you did. You made a huge mess in the parlor and you made your father fall and crash into Luna. Luna is now in the guest room having her baby. Things could have turned out a lot worse than they did, and you are very lucky that nobody was seriously hurt.”
Siri felt the tears fall from his eyes down his face. “I’m sorry, dad,” he cried throwing himself into Harry’s arms.
“I know you are, but this time an “I’m sorry,” won’t fix what you did today. There are going to be consequences for what you did. The first thing will be going downstairs and cleaning up the parlor. I have told Flunky to make sure that the house elves leave the mess and that you will be cleaning it up on your own.”
“Dad,” he gasped. “Malfoy’s don’t do manual labor!” he said sounding like Draco.
“Too bad for you that you are also a Potter, and Potter’s most definitely do manual labor, Sirius Draco Potter-Malfoy!” he said in disgust. “After you are finished cleaning the mess downstairs, you will clean up in acceptable clothing and present yourself to your father with your apologies. He will then tell you what your punishment will be.”
“Punishment, dad?” he asked incredulously. “I thought cleaning up was the punishment!”
Harry sighed and shook his head. He had obviously spoiled his son and turned him into a young Draco. He tried to bite back the smile when he thought of the haughty pureblood that he had met so many years ago. Siri was behaving just as Draco had. “You are only making right what you messed up. Your father will dole out the appropriate punishment as it was his party that you ruined.”
“But he’ll kill me!” Siri cried.
“He won’t kill you, but he is very angry right now, and I am sure you won’t be happy when he is done with you. Things in this house are going to start changing around here, and it will start with how you treat your father. Just because his ideas and his ways are different that ours, doesn’t mean that they are wrong. It just means that they are different. Your father was raised in a very different environment than I was. He has things that are important to him that do not matter to me. But understand this, Sirius, just because they don’t matter to me doesn’t mean that they don’t matter to him. He has just as much say in this home and in your life as I do. He is equally as much your father as I am. I will not allow you to belittle him and make him feel less because you do not agree with his ideas. He loves you very much, and he only wants what is best for you.”
Siri hung his head in shame. He knew that he hadn’t been treating his father very well lately and didn’t know why. He had been feeling neglected and left out and only wanted it to be fun again like it used to. His father was busy with the baby and his dad was too tired to do anything. Zozo was great fun, but he missed his dads.
“I would suggest that you change into some clothes that you can clean in and get downstairs and start cleaning up your mess. I don’t care how long it takes you to clean up the mess; you will not leave the room until it is done. Are we clear, Sirius?” Harry demanded.
“Yes, dad,” he whispered wiping away the tears. He stood up and went to his closet pulling out other clothes.
Harry stood and walked toward the door. “I love you, Siri. I will always love you no matter what you do wrong.”
Siri nodded his head. “I know.”
