Blackness
Ch 45 Blackness
The corridors were empty all the way to the common room; Harry didn’t run into so much as a ghost on his way. Harry was thankful for this; two days without the potion would mean that if exposed to too many people at a given time, he would be unable to control himself against his desires. His mind, however, was blissfully blank on the short journey from the potions master’s chambers; allowing Harry to fall quickly asleep when he climbed into his bed.
“Harry…. Harry…. What have you done?” the voice was familiar; a female voice, soft, and sweet. Harry opened his eyes to find himself surrounded by people; Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, the twins, Bill, Charlie, Sirius, Remus, his mother and father. “Why did you do this to us Harry? Why did we deserve to die?”
“Mum? I didn’t do anything…. You didn’t… I miss you..” Harry said, stepping toward her.
“You are the reason Harry. If it weren’t for you, the Dark Lord wouldn’t have come after us… if it weren’t for you we would be alive!” His mother said before collapsing into tears on his father.
“But… I didn’t do anything mum…” Harry said weakly.
“Harry… why didn’t you stop the war sooner? You know you could have… you were strong enough.. why didn’t you save us?” Mr. Weasley said, looking around the others in the circle, who were nodding in agreement, as he spoke.
“I wasn’t though.. I wasn’t strong enough.. I mean.. I was still just a kid.” Harry justified, looking around at the group as well.
“You could have saved us all, and you didn’t. I died trying to save you.. and you had the power all along to save us all.” Sirius said, wrapping an arm around Remus’ shoulders.
“Yes Harry, you were definitely strong enough, I knew when you were in third year you were strong enough, why didn’t you save everyone all the pain and grief and end it?” Remus asked, in an accusatory tone, as he leaned into Sirius’ embrace.
“I did what I could…” Harry whispered, wrapping his arms tightly around himself. “I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.”
“You killed us all Harry.” Said one of the twins.
“Yea, you killed your family.” Affirmed the other.
“How does it feel to be a murderer?” asked Charlie in a mocking tone.
“You were my family, and I’m sorry… I’m sorry I couldn’t save you…. I’m sorry.. but I killed him now… I took care of Voldemort so he can’t come after my family anymore.” Harry finished, more to himself than anyone else.
“You have no family left Harry.” Said Bill, in a scathing tone.
“Yes I do… I have Draco.” at these words, two more people entered Harry’s field of vision, causing the circle of bodies to close in around Harry.
“Draco will never be your family you half-breed.” Lucius hissed. “We may have fought and spied for the light side, but it is your fault that we died.”
“If you had killed him sooner, he would not have discovered us.” Narcissa said through gritted teeth. “My son will never be your family. That is why he pushed you away, Potter. Because he will never see you as his family.”
“He will…” Harry said, looking on at the group with glassy eyes, “You’re wrong… I love him… he will…”
“Love? What do you know of love?” his mother seethed, “You have never been loved, so how would you know love?” the group chuckled.
“I…” Harry began, but stopped, looking into all the faces around him as the tears began to fall.
“Aww... did we hurt ickle Potter’s feelings?” Narcissa laughed. “It’s true you know… no one will ever love you…. least of all the Malfoy heir.” Lucius nodded in agreement to this statement, as did everyone else around him, before everything faded into black.
Draco ghosted behind his mate down the hall; he knew Harry was still upset with him and needed some space, but Severus had said to keep an eye out for him and Draco was happy to be of service. When Harry entered their bedroom he immediately slid onto his bed and went to sleep, his back turned toward Draco. With a sigh, Draco sat himself on his bed intent on merely watching his intended sleep. ‘He’s so adorable when he sleeps; like an angel really.’ Draco thought to himself as he watched.
In the blink of an eye Harry’s sleep seemed to change; from restful and quiet, to rough and intense. Harry rolled onto his back, eyes closed tight, brow furrowed, head shaking side to side. Draco sat, frozen on his bed, unable to move toward his troubled mate. He watched as one of Harry’s hands suddenly covered his heart and his face contorted in pain as his mouth formed words furiously.
“No….. no… it’s not true….. you’re wrong….. no… you’re wrong…” Draco heard Harry whimper softly in his sleep. Finally able to make himself move, Draco slid from his bed and into Harry’s next to him.
“Harry…. Wake up….” Draco whispered as he gently shook Harry’s shoulder, when the other boy didn’t wake he tried again. “Harry… please…. Wake up.. it’s just a dream..” again Harry didn’t wake, he merely continued to hold his chest as tears began leaking from his eyes. Now Draco was desperate, “WAKE UP!” Draco screamed as he pulled Harry up into a tight hug against his chest. He nearly fell off the bed with the force of the bond rushing back to him as Harry woke; pain, sorrow, desperation, misery, loneliness, depression, and about a million more feelings Draco couldn’t begin to understand. “It’s okay.. I’m right here…” Draco soothed, gently rubbing Harry’s back.
Harry pulled back from Draco slowly, eye’s wide and shining. His mate looking down at him in concern, the scent of spice and cedar thick being this close, the throb of the bond nearly painful in his head; Harry pulled out of Draco’s arms slowly, slid off the bed and backed himself against the wall; not removing his eyes from Draco, as he slid down the wall and sat on the floor.
“Are you okay?” Draco said, slowly crawling to the side of the bed closest to Harry. His mate just nodded slowly, still not taking his wide emerald eyes off of Draco. “Are you sure? Do you need something?” He pressed, wanting to help; he could feel his mates unease pulsing through the bond and wanted desperately for it to stop. Harry shook his head slowly still not letting his gaze slip from Draco. “Tell me what I can do. Please, let me help.” Draco pleaded, slowly kneeling in front of Harry. “Tell me what I can do.” He watched as Harry slowly opened his mouth to speak.
“Nothing… there is nothing…” Harry murmured to him before his head fell backward connecting hard with the wall and he slipped into unconsciousness.
