Prompt: Prompt Table B; 50 Prompts. Prompt 42; Friend
-Friend-
Slipping into his seat seconds before the late bell rang, Harry Potter scrambled to pull out his assignment from the previous day. The teacher was very strict about collecting whatever was due as soon as the bell rang and if you were late, without a proper excuse, or didn't have it ready it wasn't collected and you failed the assignment.
“Relax the teacher's running late today.” Clark Kent, the first friend Harry had made when he started at Smallville High two months ago, whispered.
“How do you always know these things? Do you cause accidents so he's late?” Harry teasingly asked.
Chuckling, Clark said, “No I just know that Mr. Morrison has always been late after doing an outdoor assignment with his Earth Science classes and since we're doing that soil study outside today he's definitely going to be late.”
“See now these are the kind of things I need to know since I'm the newbie at this school.”
“True, but then again that's why you've got a friend like me so I can tell you when you get worried or flustered.” Clark teased back, his eyes sparkling with laughter.
“So what's the chances of us being assigned to work together?” Harry asked, even though he already knew they were since he used a spell to make sure Clark was his partner.
“Pretty good since we've always gotten our assignments done when we've worked together before. Plus he knows he doesn't have to keep an eye on us since we actually do the work unlike some of the other groups.”
“Speaking of projects, we have that English project we still have to work on. Do you want to see if you can come over later and we can work on it? I promise I'll feed you dinner before I ship you off to your house.”
“See now that isn't fair since you know I can't refuse your cooking.” Clark said with a pout.
“Oh I see how it is; you only like me for my cooking.” Harry teased.
“No way I'd like you if your food tasted like dirt and ash.” Clark said as the door opened up and the teacher walked in, trying to look like he'd planned on being late.
“We'll talk more outside.” Harry whispered as the teacher called for silence before taking attendance while the students all passed up their homework to the front desk.
