Chapter 38

With simple movements Harry signaled the separate groups what direction to go to try and cover as much of the grounds as possible. Here it was, the fight he had trained his whole life for and damnit he was going to live through it. He had more to live for than Voldemort had to destroy. He dodged and cast spells, he fought hand to hand, he cut and pierced with his sword in ways most only saw in movies. He was like a whirlwind of energy taking out Death Eater, vampire, werewolf, whatever came in his way. Harry knew Draco, Ali and Hermione were close by but as much as he worried he couldn’t afford to be unfocused at the moment. He just had to trust that they all could handle themselves and he knew logically they could. It was his heart that skipped a beat every once in a while.

Harry had just finished decapitating a vampire when he heard a scream from behind him. When he turned he found an Inferi attacking Draco. He didn’t even think about it he just put his hand out and shot fire at it. The fire hit the Inferi in the chest and began to spread and spread until it engulfed the Inferi and it turned to ash.

Once it was gone Draco got up and smirked, “That’ll come in handy.”

“Yeah it will. Where are the girls?”

“They got separated from me, don’t worry they can handle themselves.”

“Yeah I know. Well look at that? That’ll help even more with the bigger problems if you get what I mean?”

“What? Huh?”

All Harry did as an answer was look up towards the Astronomy Towers of the school until Draco turned around.

All Draco seemed able to do was stare for a moment, but then he grinned from ear to ear and said, “I have never in my life been more happy to see a Weasley.”

As they looked on hundreds of dragons and handlers were showing up headed by a red head on a Norwegian Ridgeback flying beside a young woman on what looked to be a Hebridean Black to Harry.

“How the hell is that girl controlling a Hebridean Black?” Harry thought to himself.

This dragon was the most dangerous of dragons because it couldn’t be controlled but here a young woman was riding and controlling was controlling one. It was huge like all the dragons. It was midnight black with what seemed to be silver eyes to Harry. Suddenly, Harry felt something behind him and swung around with his sword going to the person’s neck, but just as it touched the person’s neck their sword touched his. There stood Bri smiling at him.

“Good reflexes. Now stop standing around and get to business.”

“Yes, Captain!” Harry joked but just then Bri spotted the dragons and grinned.

“Janet. That girl said she was working with a Hebridean Black, but I didn’t believe her. Next time I will. Be back,” she yelled as she ran over to the dragons and their handlers.

“Janet! That you girl?” Bri yelled staying a safe distance away.

The girl looked over and smirked, “Bri? Hey come over here.”

“Okay, you don’t gotta tell me twice.”

“God if Janet didn’t look the same since I last saw since her which to has been a few years I’m afraid to admit. She looks a bit older but the same,” Bri thought.

Janet stood at about Ali’s height if many a little shorter with an athletic, tanned and toned form from taking care of dragons so many years plus all the training she and Bri had done over their school years in fighting. She had piercing hazel, light brown eyes and had darkened by her home’s climate and weather hair of a dark blonde almost light brown color that complimented her quite well.

Bri was comfortable enough in herself and their friendship to admit Janet was hot. Janet had always made herself unapproachable to the males of the population by her attitude of ‘stay away’ but something had changed in her since she’d met Charlie and Bri was glad. She loved Janet in anyway, any form but this Janet just struck her as more confident, more sure and Bri was happy.

The two hugged and caught up a bit while Charlie and the others cooled the dragons down so they wouldn’t be to overheated to fight in the next moments.

“Hey, Charlie.”

“Hey, Bri. Wanna fly with us?”

“Love to, but I’m having to much fun down here. Maybe later though.”

“Okay.”

After they caught up Bri went back to the field while Janet got back on her dragon. Just then the dragons rose into the air with a whoosh of flapping, leathery wings and a blast of wind that knocked anyone to close away ten feet. They flew right at the giants trampling greenery, buildings, people anything that got in the way of their huge bodies. Harry was really glad the dragons were on their side for this, really glad. Harry for a moment as he watched a giant crush a section of trees thought of Grawp did he get out, was he somewhere fighting, was Hagrid with him. He only got to know Grawp a bit but he already like the poor giant.

Harry kept fighting, casting, cutting and piercing. Plus every Inferi he saw he roasted. He even roasted a few vampires to ash to. He knew Lupin was out there somewhere hopefully he was okay. Harry didn’t really have time to worry to much. As Harry ran over to a small group of students backed up against a wall surrounded by Inferi he shot fire at them waving his hand along the whole line and they all burst into fire and turned to ashes.

“Thanks Harry,” someone said.

He nodded and moved on. Harry knew he was cut, bruised and broken in places from all the fighting and dodging of blasts around him, but the pain was dulled and pushed to the back of his mind. As he took a moment to get some air he looked around and spotted a blast of ice blue which he knew as Ali’s. As he looked closer he could see Ali and Hermione fighting Death Eaters back to back. They looked bruised but alive which was nice compared to what it could have been like earlier today.

“God, how long had they been fighting? He’d lost track of time in all the fighting,” he thought.

Once he caught his breath he went right back to fighting the nearest enemy. In the back of his consciousness he could feel the snake coming closer and closer he was almost here and he knew what Harry was up to with the Horcruxes. He knew Harry was back at the school and he wanted Harry dead. That’s one think that never changed, but what had was Harry now had more to live for and wouldn’t give up no matter how hard it got.
