The Baby

“You’re happy?” Draco asked with a grin. “I thought that you would have liked to have a little brother.”

“I have two of those coming. I wanted another sister. That way Lilly isn’t the only girl in the house. She would have felt lonely without another girl in the house.”

“Did she tell you that?” Draco asked.

“No, I just knew it though. She wanted a sister.”

“I see. So tell me, what name did your adorable sister pick out?”

Siri started to laugh. “You’re not going to like this dad,” he said grinning.

“Is it that bad?” Harry asked trying to figure out how bad it would be.

Siri grinned. “Depends on if you like Disney.”

Draco raised his eyebrows in question. “Like Disneyland Disney?”

“Yep,” he nodded.

“Oh gods, you’re kidding,” he whispered in horror.

“Nope. Lilly said that Arabella lets her watch Disney movies on the television. She said she has watched all of them a hundred times. So guess what the baby’s name is?”

“Please don’t tell me its Cinderella!” Harry gasped in horror.

Siri giggled. “Nope. My new sisters name is Aurora Jasmine Potter-Malfoy.”

Harry let out the breath he was holding in relief. That wasn’t so bad. “I kind of like it.”

Draco groaned. “If you like Muggle names!”

“Draco, you’re the one who said that she could name the baby. It could have been a lot worse.”

“I guess so,” he said grudgingly.

“Lilly said that we should call her Jazzy. Its short for Jasmine.”

“Absolutely not!” Draco shouted startling the baby awake. “I do not like nicknames. Especially that one. It’s ok, Aurora, daddy is here,” he said soothingly to the baby.

Harry grinned. “I don’t think that Jazzy is to bad.”

“Don’t even think about it, Potter. No daughter of mine will be called Jazzy!”

Siri doubled over on the floor laughing. “I knew you wouldn’t like it, dad. Lilly said that you would though.”

“Let this be our little secret then, we don’t want to hurt Lilly’s feelings. She will be very disappointed if we don’t like the name that she chose,” Draco told him.

“I will put an announcement out in the Quibbler tomorrow,” Harry said with a smile. “Siri, would you like to hold your new sister?”

“Can I?” he asked happily.

“Sure, baby, come sit next to me. Make sure you hold her head so that it is supported.”

“Like this?” he asked putting his hand under her head.

“How about I put her into your arms. It’s more like she rests her head on your arm and you put your other arm around her bottom. God’s Harry, what will everyone say when they read what her name is?” Draco asked with a shudder.

Harry laughed. “Since when do we do anything expected? Nothing you and I could do would shock anyone. They will expect the unexpected.”

“I think that this name might even be a bit much for us,” he said with a grin.

“Ahh who cares! Since when did you care what anyone thought?”

Draco grinned. “I guess you have a point there.”

Harry leaned down and kissed Draco’s lips. “Look,” he said pointing at Siri.

He was asleep leaning against his father holding his sister tightly to his chest. “Oh, aren’t they adorable? I so wish that Lilly was here for this moment.”

“I know what you mean. It doesn’t seem right for her to be gone right now. Its feels like she is being replaced.”

“Nothing could ever replace Lilly!” Draco hissed.

“I know that. But we have lost one daughter and gained another. I just wish that they were both here together.”

“Soon, my love. Our family will be complete soon. I think that after the twins are born and Lilly comes for a visit, we should have a family portrait done. With all of us.”

“I think that is a great idea! Now, my dear, I am exhausted and I am sure that everyone will be over here at the crack of dawn to see Aurora.”

“Let Siri stay with us tonight. I need my family with me tonight.”

Harry smiled softly at Draco and then moved to the other side of the bed. “You might want to take Aurora from him so that he doesn’t drop her.”

Draco nodded. “I will. Have you even had a chance to hold your new daughter yet?”

“Perhaps I will hold her now. That way you can get a bit of well earned rest,” he said with a smile as he reached out and took the small bundle from Siri’s arms. “She is so tiny.”

“But so beautiful. She looks like you and Siri. I wonder whose eyes she will have, I hope yours.”

“I am actually quite fond of your eyes, love.”

“Goodnight, Harry,” he said sleepily as he pulled Siri closer into his arms.

“Goodnight, Draco.”

The sun woke Harry up as it shined warmly onto his face. He rarely slept in long enough for the sun to rotate enough to hit his side of the bed and it was unusual that he was today, especially after the excitement of the night before. He glanced next to him and found the bed empty. Draco must have taken the kids to another room to let him sleep. He stretched and smiled and then guilt hit him. He wasn’t the one who had given birth the night before; it should be him up taking care of the children.

He understood that magical potions healed the body at a much faster rate than Muggle ways did, but he knew that Draco still had to be feeling sore. He groaned when he felt one of the babies kick his bladder and he got up and went to the bathroom as quickly as he could. There was always pressure on his bladder now. He still had almost seven weeks until he would deliver if Siri’s prediction was right. He wanted to be done now, but realized that it was too early. He washed his hands, brushed his teeth and then set out to find the rest of his family.

He found them minutes later in the dining room. Siri was gulping down cereal and Draco was babbling to the baby as she drank her bottle. It was possible for a wizard to nurse a baby but both Draco and he thought that the idea was to far out there and both chose to take a potion to halt any milk production and feed the kids formula instead. Breast-feeding was just a little to female for both of them.

“Good morning, sleepy head. How are you feeling?” Draco asked with a smile.

“You should have rested and let me take care of the children.”

“I’m fine. Severus gave me a modified version of the pepper up potion and I am feeling great. Poppy and Hermione did a great job of healing me and I feel almost like I am back to normal. I feel like I can chase Siri around later today,” he said grinning at Siri who grinned back.

Harry plopped down in the chair next to Draco and held out his arms. “Let me take her. I don’t feel like running anywhere. I have no energy whatsoever. I just want to sit here and do nothing for the rest of the day,” he said with a yawn.

“Sev said that you would have a hard time with exhaustion. Carrying a baby for a male is hard enough, but twin is worse. They will sap all of your magical energy right out of you. He said that I would have to help replenish your energy if you were to make it the entire way through your pregnancy safely. I would guess you are about at the time where you are needing that.”

Harry raised his eyes at Draco. “Why am I only now hearing about this?” he demanded.

“I didn’t want to worry you. It’s really an easy process. You know, I was thinking that we should find a nanny. Flunky is wonderful, but I don’t want our children raised by a house elf. We have Siri here, Lilly whenever she comes home, Aurora, and two more babies coming. If we don’t get some extra help, we will spend our every waking moment occupied with diaper changing and feedings. We won’t have any extra time for each other.”

Harry thought for a moment. “You know, that’s not a half bad idea. I think that I might know of someone. Leave it to me!”

“Harry! I would like some say in who we hire!”

“The person who I am thinking of is a friend of Ginny’s. They went to Medi-Witch training together. She actually specialized in infant care.”

“Then why isn’t she working in a hospital?”

“She couldn’t stand watching the kids dying. It got to her. She decided that she would rather take care of children in a different setting. I know that she is available because the family that she was working for just moved abroad and she didn’t want to leave England.”

“Oh, was she working for the Hammersley’s?” Draco knew that Alfred Hammersley, who worked for the Ministry of Magic, had just been transferred to Bulgaria to take over the office there. He had complained that his children were upset because their nanny refused to leave the country and she had been the best nanny ever.

“Yeah, that’s the one. All of her family is here and she didn’t want to be stuck in Bulgaria for the next several years.”

“I heard Alfred talking about how great she was. All right, Harry, make it happen,” Draco said with a grin. “Ask her if she can start tomorrow. I have plans for you,” Draco said with a grin.

“Draco!” Harry gasped. “Isn’t it too soon?” he asked looking over at Siri to see if he understood the sexual overtones of the conversation.

“Sev told me I was as good as new and whenever I was ready. I am definitely ready!”

“Dad! I’m eating here!” Siri said rolling his eyes.

“What?” Draco asked innocently.

“I do watch television, you know!”

“You know Harry, I am not so sure that your Muggle television that you insist on having is such a good idea,” he said drolly.

Harry grinned. “You watch it more than I do!”

“Possibly.”

Harry handing the sleeping baby back to Draco and smiled. “I shall place the announcement in the Quibbler, and then I shall send Flunky with a message requesting a meeting with Miss Cameron.”

“Miss Cameron? Is that her name?”

“Yes. I can’t remember what her first name is though. It was something strange though.”

“Hmmm,” Draco said as he gently kissed Aurora. “Siri, would you like to help me pick out an outfit for your sister?”

Siri rolled his eyes. “It’s a good thing you had another daughter dad. Daddy and I aren’t into clothes like you are.”

“Harry Potter, you have corrupted my son!” Draco said with a smile.

Harry roared with laughter. “You can’t blame the kid, who wants to look at clothes all day!”

A/N:
I bet nobody saw that name coming! I know that all of you were thinking her name would be Zoe, but it just didn't work for me. Watch though, Zozo's name will be used soon!
