The New Potter-Malfoy
Harry opened his eyes to find himself sitting in a chair next to the sofa that Draco was lying on. Poppy, Hermione and Severus were all still standing over him. “Draco?” he groaned.
“Harry!” Hermione yelped and quickly ran to him. “He’s still unconscious. We’re getting him ready to take upstairs. Poppy said that we need to immediately deliver the baby. I had Flunky take Siri to the Burrow. He’s freaked out, but with you passed out we couldn’t deal with the distraction. Are you alright?”
Harry nodded. “Is he going to be alright?” He was terrified that Draco wouldn’t wake and he would be left alone. He finally had a happy life with a man that he loved beyond life itself and two beautiful children, with three more on the way. Harry couldn’t tolerate the thought of loosing Draco.
“If we can get the baby delivered and stop the internal bleeding. Poppy said that the placenta has detached itself and he is bleeding massively inside. If we can take the baby then we can heal him.”
“Hermione, we’re ready to take him upstairs. Do you have all that you need?”
Hermione quickly went back to the sofa where Severus was levitating Draco. “Yes. Follow me,” she said directing them out of the room.
“Are you coming, Harry?” Poppy asked as she watched Harry try to get himself out of the chair.
“If I can get out of this damn chair!” he shouted, finally pulling himself free.
“You must keep a calm head about you. No more theatrics or passing out. You can sit in the room and hold his hand. Try talking to him. The procedure to remove the baby will take several minutes and then we can heal him. If all goes well he should be awake within the hour.”
“And if it doesn’t?” he asked as he followed the medi-witch up the stairs.
“Do you really want me to answer that, Mr. Potter?”
Harry sat next to the pale man lying in the bed. He held his hand and softly talked to him completely ignoring what was going on with Severus, Hermione and Poppy. “I wonder what names Lilly picked out, love. After spending six months in America, go knows what it could possibly be,” he said with a chuckle. “Hopefully it isn’t something to insane.”
Harry absently rubbed his own belly and wondered what they would name the boys. They had had several discussions but neither one of them could come up with anything that they truly liked. “Siri went with Flunky to the Burrow. You know that Molly will baby him until we go retrieve him. He was upset and blamed himself so you’ll have to be sure to let him know that it was not his fault. He is only six after all, and what six year old remembers to pick up their toys. Not to mention, with your belly as big as it is, you never would have seen it anyway.”
Harry’s head swung up when he heard the feeble crying of his child. “Is it alright?” he gasped when he saw Poppy cutting the umbilical cord that still attached it to Draco.
“I’ll run a few tests, but the baby looks to be fine.” She quickly took the baby to a table that had been prepared for just that and waved her wand over the struggling baby. “Hermione, how does Draco look?”
“I think that he’ll be fine. There are a few blood vessels still bleeding, but I should have them stopped in a second. How is the baby?”
“Looks alright. Might have swallowed a bit of blood, but we have a potion that will fix that. Severus?”
“Here it is,” he said pulling it from his robe pocket. He carefully lifted the baby to his arms and gently poured the potion into the baby’s mouth. A second later the baby howled its indignation and let the room know it was fine. “There you go. All better now,” he cooed to the baby.
Harry stared in horror at Severus Snape, famous death eater, and terror of Hogwarts cooing his newborn baby. “Don’t even say a word, Potter,” Severus said before Harry could manage to find a word.
“Harry,” he heard Draco whisper.
“Oh love, how are you feeling?”
“Like I was hit in the head with a bludger,” he groaned.
“You slipped on one of Siri’s dragons and you fell. I think you hit your head when you landed.”
“The baby?” he asked reaching for his belly.
At that moment the newest Potter-Malfoy choose to make itself know screaming at the top of its lungs. “It seems to have your personality, Draco,” Harry grinned.
“It? What do we have, Potter?” he demanded.
Harry’s eyes stared at Draco’s for a moment blankly and then he threw back his head and laughed. “I have absolutely no idea. But it sounds likes it’s healthy!”
Harry smiled at the site before him. Siri was sprawled across George’s lap, and both of them were sound asleep on the sofa gently snoring. “They looked so cute, I couldn’t bare to wake them,” Molly said smiling. “I took a picture of them though.”
“You’ll have to give me a copy.”
“How is Draco?” Molly asked. “Siri has been inconsolable. He only went to George because George started telling him stories about the things you did when you were young.”
“He’ll be fine. He’s resting now. He fell and the placenta ruptured causing internal bleeding. They took the baby early, but both of them are fine.”
“A new baby! I can’t wait to see it! What is it?” she asked excitedly.
Harry grinned. “I promised Draco that the first person that we would tell is Siri, but if you guys come over tomorrow afternoon, you can be the second person to meet the latest addition to our family.”
Molly nodded in understanding. She knew that Draco was a bit different and had some strange ideas, but she also knew that he desperately loved his family and she would respect his wishes and not badger Harry. “Do you need some help carrying him home?”
“Probably. He’s getting so big, and with my belly getting so big, I can barely lift him anymore.”
“Let me get Fred. He’s in the kitchen.”
“Thank you for all of your help, Molly.”
She smiled and gave Harry a quick hug. “That’s what you do for family! Another September baby! I am so happy for you! Was it born before midnight?”
“Yeah. September 12th at 10:33pm.”
“A few more days and it would have shared a birthday with Hermione,” she said walking to the kitchen.
Harry grinned. “She would have loved that!”
An hour later Harry and Flunky had Siri changed and tucked into his bed. He was exhausted and hadn’t woken up once. Harry kissed his soft cheek softly and left the room, leaving his door slightly ajar. He yawned and stretched and thought about how he wanted to sleep so badly. He walked down the hall to the room he shared with Draco and saw that he was sleeping with the baby cradled in his arms. Harry stood for a moment watching them sleep wondering how his life could possibly get anymore perfect.
He had been scared to death earlier that night. He had thought that he had lost Draco and he had wondered how he would go on. He thanked the Gods that he and the baby were both all right. Draco was his life and he couldn’t make it without him.
“Harry?” Draco whispered holding his hand out to him.
“Go back to sleep, love,” he said reaching for his hand.
“Come to bed. I need you with me,” he said.
Harry smiled. “Is there room in there for me with you two hogging the bed?” he joked.
“There is always room for you love, wherever I am.”
“I love you so much,” Harry cried. “I was so afraid, Draco.”
“I know. I love you too, Harry. I will always be here for you,” he said wiping the tear from his husband’s eye.
“I thought that I had lost you. I couldn’t stand it. When I saw you lying on the floor not moving with blood pooling around your head, I lost it!”
“Oh love, I am so sorry! Don’t worry so! We are going to grow old and gray together. I won’t leave you!”
“You are my life, Draco. I couldn’t stand to loose another person whom I loved!” he sobbed into his husbands shoulder.
“We are a family. For the rest of our lives we are a family, and I don’t know about you, but I plan on living a very, very long life. I want to see my great-great grandchildren, and I refuse to die before I see them!” he said with a soft smile.
“Your stubborn enough to stay alive long enough to prove it too!” Harry said with a smile. “Thank you.”
“For another beautiful baby, or for making you feel better?”
Harry laughed. “Both.”
“Have you ever seen such a beautiful baby?” Draco asked proudly.
“Only Siri,” Harry said loyally.
“Lilly was beautiful too, but she came out all red and splotchy.”
“I thought that all babies did.”
“Does this one look all red and splotchy?”
Harry smiled. “No, this one looks perfect.”
“How could we together create anything that was less than perfect?”
“Daddy?” a small voice asked from the doorway.
“Hey little man,” Draco said smiling at Sirius. “Would you like to see the new baby?”
Siri cried and raced to the bed to his father. “Dad, I’m so sorry!” he sobbed throwing himself at Draco.
Harry reached down and grabbed the baby before Draco dropped it tying to balance Siri.
“It wasn’t your fault, Siri. I was to fat to see where I was going!” he said laughing.
“But I’m supposed to put away my toys!” he wailed.
“And your daddy is supposed to put his shoes away and not leave them in the doorway. How many times do you hear me yelling at him after I have tripped over his big shoes?”
Siri sniffed. “A lot.”
“Exactly. People forget things all the time. I’m fine, the baby is fine, you’re fine, and daddy is fine. Everyone is fine, and it is not your fault. I love you so much, little man,” Draco said hugging the upset little boy to his chest.
“You’re not mad at me, dad?”
“Nope. Actually, I should thank you. This way I got to have the baby early and now I won’t have to be pregnant any longer. I can tell you I was getting quite tired of that!” Draco said with a laugh.
Siri smiled tentatively at Draco. “I love you, dad.”
“And I you, baby. Now, how would you like to check out this new baby?”
Siri grinned. “What is it?”
Harry and Draco smiled at each other. Draco took the baby back into his arms and slowly unwrapped the blankets from around the sleeping bundle. “Look,” Draco grinned.
Siri looked down at the naked baby before him and grinned. “Yes!” he yelled jumping up and down.
