Deal
Chapter 41 Deal
The next day Hermione stayed after Transfiguration, telling Harry that she had thought of something that could be useful to the study group and had to speak to the professor about it. Davis had thought his class was gone, but when he looked up and saw Hermione there he wasn't all too surprised. "Can I help you with anything, Miss Granger?" The smile in his voice was evident.
She waved her hand to put up a silencing charm before standing in front of the desk that his feet were on as he leaned back in his chair. "What the hell was that about? He almost saw my Mark. What were you people playing at when you made that cup?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," he answered loftily, adding to her anger.
"Yeah fucking right you don't know what I'm talking about. (she slammed her hands on the desk) You set that cup up so I would have to get Harry off! That's just... immoral!"
Now Davis let out a sound laugh. "Immoral? If you think that's immoral, then what have you been doing for the last few months?"
Now she looked like she was going to explode. "This is not about me! Ok, it is, but back to what I was saying. He almost saw my Mark. Thankfully the bezoar came into effect before he ripped the rest of my clothes off. If that hadn't happened, do you even realize how screwed I would be right now?"
"Hermione, we are confident that you can take care of yourself. We knew what your mission was going to be, and we figured that if it hadn't come to fruition by the time you had the cup, we would just help it along a bit."
Now she put her hand up to her forehead and shook her head at the man in front of her. "Then you obviously don't know Harry, despite everything I've told you. If there hadn't been something going on already, he would have been even more embarassed and would refuse to come near me for fear of what he'd done, even if it was from the potion."
"If that is the case, then it was good that you've already got him as your boyfriend. Now don't you have another class to get to?"
"Fine, but I'm still mad at you."
"I'll live." She huffed out of the room, waving the silencing charm off.

Professor Snape was now walking down the next hallway, wondering what the Head Girl could have possibly been so angry at the Tranfiguration professor for. He couldn't hear what was being said, but he had a nice view of most of the confrontation. Something about the two of them didn't sit right with him.
Everything about them was too comfortable. The tutoring session, while admittedly helping the students seemed to just be a cover for the large amounts of time the two spent together. Granger had definately been going off on him, yet the man had just sat there and laughed. Definately not the normal teacher-student realtionship.
Davis was in the Dark Lord's inner circle. Snape was sure that the man was using Granger to get information on Potter, and no doubt he had already gotten an earful. The girl was too trusing off the her housemates, so why wouldn't she trust her Head of House? He was manipulating her, and she didn't even see it. Or had she figured it out and that was what the fight was about?
If that were the case, she would probably come to him or to McGonagall to tell them about Davis' leanings. Though she would probably figure that he already knew and gave her and the Potter brat more ammunition to think that he wasn't on the side of the light.

Davis had given her the go on her idea for Nagini. The next night she was in her room talking to Harry about solutions. Harry really wanted to kill the snake just to be sure. Hermione, though, was trying to convince him otherwise.
"Remember when you said you set that snake free before you came to Hogwarts? How could you then turn around and kill this one?"
"Hermione, she's Voldemort's pet. She does everything he wants her to do. If we let her live, she'll still be a threat."
"Harry I know you don't want to kill anyone or anything, but you are the only one who can kill You Know Who. Why would you want more than one death on your hands?"
"I already have more than one death on my hands," he quietly responded.
"Harry, none of those were your fault. You really need to stop blaming yourself for it."
"Let's just drop it. You're right, I don't want to kill anyone or anything that I don't have to. But Nagini falls into the 'have to' category, whether you like it or not. Besides its not like there's any other way."
"There has to be. Just give me a couple of days to figure it out, alright?"
"Alright, but just a couple of days. Then we're going to start figuring out how to get to Nagini without getting caught, and figuring what to tell the Order. Deal?"
"Deal," she agreed reluctantly.
