Chapter Forty One

Chapter Fourty One

Death Eaters Close Off Knockturn Alley!

Last night the inhabitants of Knockturn Alley rebelled against the ministry, closing off and warding the Alley from any outsiders. The action seems to have been perpetrated by a small minority of individuals but with very little resistance from residence. The ministry has seen this as a show of allegiance by the inhabitants to the Dark Lord. The ministry immediately sent their Aurors to the scene in an attempt to break through the wards and recapture the Alley. Despite several attempts they were continually rebuffed, until they were forced to build wards of equal force and strength around Diagon Alley. The number of witches, wizards and Aurors hurt or killed in this action are as yet, unknown. There has been no official comment from the ministry but that they will do everything in their power to bring the area back under ministry control.

An unnamed source described the witch burnings which took place in Knockturn Alley a month ago as preparation for this attack. They stated that, “those loyal to the ministry were removed and many others appear to have been cowed into acceptance by that ugly incident, enabling the followers of the Dark Lord to take control of the street.”

This attack seems to have taken the ministry completely by surprise and there has been much speculation as to why this is the case. Professor Dumbledore of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry commented that, “It is to be expected that V******* would use different tactics this time. During the last war we were lucky in that he used guerrilla tactics in an attempt to frighten the Wizarding Community into accepting him. This time his attacks will be much faster, much harder and much more damaging. The wizarding community should prepare them selves for a sharp, brutal war.” Although hallowing Professor Dumbledore’s message was not without hope as he urged the community to work together to defeat the evil.
