Epilogue
Severus sat at the staff table and watched as the first years were led in. Severus Snape had become the headmaster five years earlier after the death of Albus Dumbledore. His wife, Professor Hermione Snape, had taken over for Minerva after she retired the same year. Hermione led the frightened first years into the Great Hall. Before the staff table was a stool with an old hat on it.
“When I call your name please step forward. I place the sorting hat on your head and the hat will sort you into your house. Anderson, Shelia.” Hermione said.
Down the list she went till she came to a name and smiled.
“Potter, Lily.” She said.
A young girl with red hair and green eyes walked up. The hat was placed on her head. “Well, a Potter and a Weasley. There is only one place for you to go. GRYFFINDOR!” the hat said.
Lilly smiled as she ran off to the Gryffindor table. Hermione continued. Down the list till she paused at the name of her and Severus’s children.
“Snape, Gabrielle.”
Gabrielle had her father’s eyes and hair. She was the apple of her daddy’s eye. She was just as smart as her mother. Gabrielle calmly walked up and sat on the stool. “Hmmm. You are a difficult one.” The hat said.
“I will do fine wherever I go.” Gabrielle shot back.
“Ambitious are we. A brilliant mind as well. I know. GRYFFINDOR!” the hat called.
Hermione smiled. Severus clapped proudly as his daughter joined her best friend Lilly at the Gryffindor table.
“Snape, Remus” Hermione called.
Gabrielle’s twin brother came next. Remus looked just like his mother except he had Severus’s hair. He was quiet, smart and very ambitious. He hoped he would go with his sister and friends, but also wouldn’t mind going to Slytherin.
“Another Snape. You are much like your father was at your age. Where to put you.” The hat replied.
“Either Gryffindor or Slytherin will do thank you.” Remus stated matter of factly.
“Very well. GRYFFINDOR!” the hat cried.
Remus smirked as he made his way to his sister and Lilly. Finally the sorting was finished. Ron and Lavender’s twin’s were in Gryffindor along with Harry and Ginny’s daughter and Hermione and Severus’s children. Severus rose to his feet.
“Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. I would like to welcome back as this year’s Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Potter. I would also like to introduce our new Potions Mistress Professor Snape.” Severus said. The hall erupted in cheers and applause. “Now, let the feast begin.”
The hall was immediately filled with laughter and chatter. Hermione smiled at her children and god children. “Sorry that neither of them are in Slytherin dear.” Hermione replied with a smile.
“I’m not. Those two know where they belong. They are where they want to be. Together and with their friends. I am proud of them. And will be no matter what house they are sorted in.” Severus smiled.
He leaned over and gently kissed his wife. Even after almost 12 years of marriage the love they shared had not diminished, it only got stronger. The feast ended and the students headed for their dorms. Severus and Hermione headed for their rooms. They quickly changed for bed. They curled up in each other’s arms as they waited to fall asleep.
“I love you Hermione.” Severus said.
“And I love you Severus. I am so proud of our children. They will do well. I just know it.” Hermione replied.
“Yes they will. And thank you for giving me two of the most wonderful children.” He sighed as he hugged her tightly.
Hermione leaned up and whispered something into his ear. Severus’s eyes grew large and he looked down at his smiling wife. “You are? When did you find out?” he asked.
“I found out this morning. Ginny told me I am 3 months along.” She answered smiling.
“I’m going to be a father again!” Severus cried as he once more kissed his wife.
The two soon drifted off to sleep. Finally their lives were at peace.
