Emotional Beginnings

A/N:
OK, I know that I said that there would just be one more chapter and the epilogue, but I can't fit it all into one. I promise just one more though...I have a couple of ends left to tie. Don't worry...They are already written I just need to post...

He watched the beautiful women before him as she silently plucked non-existent weeds from her already immaculate flower beds. She had a floppy hat on her head and white gloves covered her long slender hands. She was wearing Muggle attire of black slacks and a long sleeved black sweater turtleneck. He could tell that she had placed a charm around her garden because the flowers were in full bloom and the ground was soft and moist, which neither occurrence should have happened as it was a cold January day in England.
She looked stunning as she sat there, lost in her own world.

“A knut for your thoughts,” he said stepping up beside her.

She jumped and then scrabbled up to her feet. “Charlie,” she said quickly brushing the dirt off of her knees. “What are you doing here?” she asked.

“I thought that it was time for us to have a serious heart to heart discussion about us.”

Narcissa sighed. “There is no us. I thought that I had made that clear.”

“I hadn’t realized that you were willing to give up your wand,” he said reaching out to pluck her hat from her head. He loved her long blond hair.

“Give me that!” she snapped reaching for it. “And what are you talking about? I won’t give up my wand!”

“Did you not read the fine print on the test? If a name appears you have thirty days to marry or forfeit your wand.”

“What?” she gasped. “Kingsley would never enforce that rule!” Would he? She silently asked herself.

“Before yesterday he might not have, but after what happened with Professor McGonagall he said that he would not be bending the rules anymore. I’ve just came from his office. Perhaps you should have thought of this before taking the test?”

“With my luck you would have still taken it and I’d still be in the same place,” she snapped.

Charlie smiled. “I would have been hundreds of miles away in Romania, happily oblivious to the two of us. I would have been out of reach of the Ministry of Magic. You changed that by doing the test.”

Narcissa thought for a moment. “Then go back to Romania! If you’re not here I can’t be forced to marry you!” she said in desperation.

Charlie shook his head. “Bit late for that now. I’ve accepted a new position in Scotland. Make no mistakes, Narcissa, we will be married.” He reached out and pulled her to him. He put his hand on the back of her neck and pulled her close. Their lips were just a breath away from touching when he said, “You are mine, and I won’t be giving you up.” He then pressed his lips softly to hers.

Narcissa gasped and tried to pull away, but Charlie pressed the kiss tighter against her, opening his mouth and thrusting his tongue into hers when she gasped. She fought him for a moment and then relaxed into his bold ministrations. She felt the electric heat race through her body and forgot about getting away. She stepped closer to him and wrapped her arms around his neck pushing herself closer to his warmth. She felt the evidence of his desire pressed against her belly and she shivered in delight. It had been years since she had felt such a burst of desire run through her body.

Charlie felt a surge or euphoria race through his veins when he felt the feisty witch start to respond. He knew if she would just let her guard down long enough to get to know him that they would be happy. He had dreamed of her for years without really knowing who she was. He had felt her pain, her desire, he tears and her joy. They were connected in a way that he had never been nor would he ever be without someone else. Nothing else mattered to him except the feel of her in his arms.

“Stop!” she hissed pushing away. “This is just sex, nothing more. So we are attracted to each other, big deal! I’ve been attracted to hundreds of men in my life, you’re nothing special!”

Charlie pulled back against him and said, “You lie! I know it’s me that you want! I’ve feel you call to me in my dreams for most of my life! What you and your ex-husband had was nothing compared to what we will share. You can’t push me away, Narcissa. You belong to me!” he shouted.

“No! I won’t be another man’s possession! I would rather surrender my wand than to give up myself to another person again!”

“That’s not what I meant, you stubborn witch, and you know it!” he said angrily. “I don’t expect you to be a puppet on my string! I expect you to be my equal! I want you by side, sharing my life! I want you to be my lover, my best friend, the mother of my children! I want your opinion, your thoughts, your feelings, and your laughter! I want to grow old with you, knowing that each day we are together will be better than the last! I want to come home at night to your arms, to the home that we would share. I want to watch you come undone when I make love to you, and I want it to be my name that is screamed from your lips. I want to teach you to live life to the fullest, not keep you hidden in a gilded cage for nobody’s pleasure but my own. I don’t want you as eye candy to show off to my friends and society, I want to show you off to my friends and family because I am proud to be your husband, and you are proud to be my wife!” he said, crashing his lips against hers in a show of ownership. “Make no mistakes, Narcissa Malfoy, you are mine and will always be mine!”

“Stop this, Charlie! I can’t be what you want me to be! I’m not the person who you think I am! I am selfish and like to be that way! I can’t have children; I will never provide you with the children that you want!”

“So what!” he hissed. “We’ll spend our lives spoiling our grandchildren then! I’m sure that Hermione and Draco will give us plenty of them. It doesn’t change anything! It’s you I want; having a child would just be an added bonus! I’m a Weasley, for Merlin’s sake! It’s not like there aren’t already enough Weasley children around already.”

Narcissa snickered at that. Molly and Arthur had seven children and now they already had three grandchildren. He was right about that, there were no shortages of Weasley children. “Charlie,” she said, “You will spend the rest of your life regretting marrying me. You are the type of man who would want a family of his own. As you said, you’re a Weasley, and they always have a ton of kids.”

“I’m not going to lie to you, Narcissa. I have always wanted to be a father. I dreamed of a house full of kids and chaos, just like where I grew up, however, it’s more important to me to have you. If you can’t bare my children, life will still go on. I will still make love to you every night in our bed, and smile at you every morning when we rise. I will love and spoil Draco’s children with you and be just as much of a doting grandfather as you would be a doting grandmother. Do you know why? Because they would be part of you.”

“Those are just pretty words to get me to agree. Don’t you think Lucius played this game with me as well? He was the master manipulator! I’ve learned from the best, and I won’t be tricked again!”

Charlie glared and then hissed, “I am not Lucius Malfoy, nor am I anything like that disgusting wizard! He doesn’t know the first thing about honor and respect! To follow that psycho Voldemort around for the change at power and prestige at the expense of his family is the sickest thing that I have ever seen or heard of. I will make you a wizards vow right here and now, Narcissa.” He pulled his wand out of his pocked, waved it and said, “I, Charlie Weasley, pledge my life and soul to Narcissa Malfoy and only Narcissa Malfoy. I give my word as a wizard and a man that I will never, ever, do anything to cause Narcissa Malfoy any harm. I also vow to love her every day of my life and treat her with nothing but love and respect.” A cloud of green smoke swirled from his wand and around his head and this disappeared.

“Oh, Charlie, what have you done?” Narcissa gasped in shock.

“I have done what I said I would do. I have bonded myself to you and only to you. If you chose not to marry me now, I will still be bound to you. You and I belong together, Narcissa. It’s only your stubborn pride that will stop it. I am leaving in the morning for Scotland. I need to speak with the person who’s place I am taking before he leaves. If you want me before that, I am staying at the Three Broomsticks. It was easier to stay there than to put up with my Mum’s bad mood. If I don’t see you before I leave, I will assume that you don’t want to try. I believe if you tell Kingsley that you are barren and can’t have a child that he would release you from your obligation to marry me. Goodbye, Narcissa.” He leaned into her and kissed her and then apparated away.

Narcissa stood there for a moment staring at the spot that he had been in stunned disbelief. What the hell he was thinking, she wondered to herself. How could he have done such a thing? Now he would always be bound to her and never have a chance at a life with someone else. She pushed her face into her hands and cried. She cried for who she had been, and what her life had been. She cried for who she was now and what her life had become, and mostly, she cried because she didn’t know if she was brave enough to give Charlie a chance at her heart.

“Are you pregnant?”

“What?” the witch demanded.

Kingsley glared at the beautiful woman sitting before him. “It’s really a simple question, Endora. Are you pregnant?”

She jumped up and pointed her wand at his chest. “How dare you ask me such a personal question? Do you think because you are the Minister of Magic that you can go around accosting citizens?” she demanded shoving the wand further into his chest.

He pulled the wand from her hand and snapped it in two. “This has nothing to do with my position in the Ministry. I’ll not ask again, Endora. Do you carry my baby?”

“What if I do?” she shouted. “It would be mine and none of your business! How dare you snap my wand! I have that one for years!”

“Oh this time, Endora, if you try to hide another baby from me I’ll do more than snap your wand,” he growled.

She glared at him with thinly held fury. “Are you threatening me, Kingsley?” she hissed.

“No, I’m promising you,” he said taking a step closer to her.

“You. Will. Not. Boss. Me. Around,” she said enunciating each word. She took a step closer to him and grabbed the front of his robes. “Do you understand me?”

“Yes. I. Will.” He said grabbing her and pulling her up against him. He was turned on by her show of fury. He crushed his lips against his in a whirl of passion and fury. He groaned when he felt her arms wrap around his neck but then hissed when he felt her yank on the back of his hair. “What the hell did you do that for?” he demanded, pushing back away from her.

“You are not going to force yourself on me whenever you feel like it! I say who kisses me!” she said stomping her foot. Then as quickly as she pulled away she pulled him back against her and kissed him again, letting loose her pent up emotions. She had loved this man most of her life and it felt like heaven to be in his arms.

Kingsley wanted her even though he knew she was poison. He wanted to feel her beneath him as he pounded into her wet welcoming body. He wanted to feel her tight walls clench tightly against his throbbing cock and he wanted to hear her shout out his name as she reached her climax. He wanted her as he had wanted no other. As he felt his body rage out of control his mind fought for dominance. He couldn’t allow this to happen now. He needed to make sure that she wasn’t pregnant. The conniving witch might control his body, but she would not control his mind. He wouldn’t allow another one of his children to be born without his knowledge. He pulled his lips away from her swollen mouth and pulled his wand from his pocket. He flicked it across her belly and muttered an incantation. A second later her belly glowed pink.

“A daughter?” they both gasped as one.

He stared at her for a moment. “You didn’t know?” he demanded.

She stared back at him dumbly. “I can’t be pregnant!” she wailed. “I’m too old!”

Kingsley grabbed her shoulders. “Is it mine?” he demanded.

She paled and shook her head. “No! It’s someone else’s!”

“You lie!” he hissed swirly his wand again around her belly. He watched as his name appeared in smoke.

“You can’t have her!” Endora cried. “She’s mine!” She had tried for years to have a daughter and all she had produced were sons. After Blaise was born she refused to give birth to another child unless it was a daughter. She took the vile potion each time to rid her body of the child. Finally after years of trying, when she had given up hope, when she was too old to raise another child, here was her daughter.

“She is mine too!” he growled. “And this time you will not exclude me. This time I will have a say in my child’s life.”

“How do you plan to do that? I’ll disappear and you will never find me again!”

“No you won’t! Wives can’t hide from their husbands.”

“What?” she gasped. “We’re not married!”

“We will be this afternoon. I’ll not let you sneak off. “

“You can’t force me to marry you!”

“Oh yes I can. As you so eloquently pointed out, I am the Minister of Magic. I can do whatever I want to do! Do you think anyone will go against me?”

“It won’t be legal!” she exclaimed in fear. She couldn’t marry him! She wouldn’t be able to control such a strong man. Truth be told, that is what she had always liked about Kingsley. He was the only wizard she had ever met who was her match. He would never allow her to control him or dictate the terms of their life. She smiled to herself. She knew how to get rid of unwanted husbands.

Kingsley watched her face and knew exactly what she was thinking. She hadn’t been called the Black Widow for nothing. He was no fool. He knew she would try and kill him before she allowed him to control her. “Wipe the smirk off your face, Endora. You won’t be killing me.”

“How will you stop me?” she demanded, smiling evilly.

He smiled the same evil smile back at her and then very clearly and carefully said, “With my life’s breath this child shall live. If by this mothers hand or deed I perish, so shall this innocent baby girl.” A swirl of red smoke floated around Endora’s waist and disappeared.

“No! You can’t do that!” she cried. “That’s dark magic! The minister of magic can’t perform dark magic!” she screamed.

“I just did. You kill me, Endora, or if you have another do your ill deeds, then your daughter will die as well. We will marry, raise our daughter together, and spend the rest of our lives fighting and making up.”

“Why?” she demanded. “Why would you tie yourself to me this way?”

“Because, for all your faults and your evil ways, I can’t forget about you. I can’t keep my hands off of you. You’re like a virus raging through my body and the only cure is to have you. If my penance for having you in my bed is to put up with you out of it, then so be it. But mark my words, Endora; you will be in my bed every night for the rest of our lives. You are mine!”

“Oh Kingsley!” she cried, throwing her arms around him. “Why did you wait so long to claim me?”

He held the sobbing witch in bewilderment. Is that all she wanted? To be claimed? Women, who could figure them out? He pulled her tighter against him and smiled. It would be fun trying though.

Ron stood in front of the Burrow with Kim at his side. It had been a long day of traveling but he was home. He hated his family, but at the same time he loved them, and they were a part of who he was. He couldn’t be who he was without their love and support. It was time to make amends with his parents and put his foot down to his siblings. He would no longer be baby Ron. He would make it clear that he would no longer tolerate their behavior. If they thought he was a git like Percy, so be it. He was as a man now, and he would be treated like one.

“This is your home?” Kim asked in surprise.

Ron nodded. “It’s not much, but its home.”

“It looks like a good wind storm would knock it over,” she said.

“It’s always looked like that.”

“Is it safe?” she said as she slowly walked behind him towards the house.

Ron grinned. “If Fred and George haven’t toppled it over by now, nothing ever will.”

Just then the front door flew open and a deranged red headed woman raced out the door. “Ron! Oh Ron! You’re home!” she cried throwing herself into his arms, sobbing. “I was so worried. The clock said you were fine, but I was still so worried!”

“Mum!” he said catching his sobbing mother in his arms. “I’m fine!” he blushed. He looked at Kim who grinned and shrugged. She knew what mothers were like.

Just then another woman flew out the door screaming, “Kimberly! Oh Kimberly! You’re here! I can’t believe you’re here!”

Kim frowned but wrapped her arms around her mother and allowed herself to be fawned over. “Mother,” she smiled.

Molly stopped crying long enough to ask Gretchen, “That’s your daughter?”

Gretchen nodded with a grin. “Yes, this is my Kimberly.”

“What are you doing here?” Kimberly asked her mother.

“George and Luna are picking up Natalie today so Molly and I decided to have a visit before they arrived. What are you doing here?” her mother asked.

“Ron wanted to see his Mum, and I wanted to see you.”

“What about Natalie?”

“I would like to see her as well,” Kim smiled. She knew it was expected of her.

Gretchen smiled, pleased that her daughter was showing an interest in her own daughter. “She’s inside.”

Molly stared at the young women who had appeared with Ron wondering how that came about. She wanted to demand answers to her questions but knew she needed to let Ron tell his story on his own. He just came home and she didn’t want to scare him away again. If his absence taught her anything, she learned that she couldn’t live without her family close by.

However, Gretchen didn’t have any of the same reservations. She was used to her daughter coming and going and showing up with strange people. Although, the younger brother of her ex-lover was even a little bit strange for Kimberly. “Kimberly, how did you and Ron meet?”

Kim smiled. She knew her mother wouldn’t leave that one alone. “We met in Seattle. Ron moved into the same apartment building that I did.”

“What?” both mothers gasped.

“Seattle?” Molly practically shouted. “That’s in America isn’t it?” she demanded.

“What were you doing in America?” Gretchen demanded.

Ron and Kim looked at each other and rolled their eyes. It was apparent to both of them that their mothers were exactly alike. They both knew how to deal with that.

“Is Fred and George here?” Ron asked.

“Can I see Natalie?” Kim asked.

Both mothers immediately changed the subject, content with the thought of an upcoming family reconciliation. “You should see Natalie, she’s so beautiful,” Gretchen gushed.

“George and Luna are here, but Fred isn’t. Now Ron, I am sure that they are very sorry,” Molly started.

“Mum, let’s not talk about it now,” Ron said, not wanting Kim to hear about his humiliation. “I’ll work it out with them later.”

Molly raised an eyebrow but left it alone. “Ron, did you hear about Minerva McGonagall?” she asked. She was still grieving the loss of one of her dearest friends.

Ron nodded. “Harry sent me an owl. What happened to Romilda?”

“Nothing yet, she still hasn’t woken up. Ronald, did you tell Harry where you were at?”

He shook his head. “I didn’t tell anyone where I went, why?”

“Then how did he know where you were?”

Ron shrugged. “Harry always finds things out, Mum, you know that.”

“You’re not mad at him?”

“What for? He’s my best mate. He didn’t have any control over Fred and George. You can’t even control them, Mum, how could Harry?”

“You don’t think he should have told you?”

“Yeah, but I know why he didn’t. I wouldn’t have told him either. Jokes a joke, Mum. We’ll talk about this later. How’s Natalie? Can’t believe how many babies there are around.” Molly looked at Ron like he had grown two heads. What had happened to him while he was gone? He almost sounded rational.

They walked into the house and Luna was sitting on the sofa feeding Natalie her bottle. She was crooning softly to her, the baby staring intently into her eyes. Luna had a serene look on her face. She looked up and smiled. “Ron, I knew you would come back,” she said.

“Luna,” he said nodding his head. “Where’s George?”

“Upstairs. He’s looking for something in the attic. Who’s this?” she asked looking at Kim.

“This is Kim, uh…um…Natalie’s Mum,” he stammered, turning bright red. “I’m going to go see George,” he said going towards the stairs. He didn’t want to sit and listen to two women talk about babies. They’d be at it for hours and he’d fall asleep.

Luna smiled. “Hello, Kim,” she said. “Would you like to hold your daughter?”
Kim sat down on the sofa next to Luna and stared at the baby’s face. She had changed in the past several months. She looked like her father’s side of the family. Kim thought that there was very little of her in the baby’s sweet face. Kim looked up at Molly and Gretchen and said, “Can we have a moment, please?”

Molly looked like she was going to argue, but Gretchen took her arm and led her into the kitchen. “Let’s give them a moment, dear.”

The two young women sat quietly for a minute and then Luna asked, “Do you want to hold her?”

Kim shook her head. “No. I know that I am supposed to want to, but I just don’t. You’re her mother now. Ron told me that you and George married and that she would live with the two of you. She needs a Mum and a Dad, and that’s the two of you. I am giving her to you. I don’t want to be a Mum. Not just her Mum, but a Mum at all. I don’t particularly like children, and I don’t want to be tied down. I am glad that she has a good home, but I don’t feel as if I have a bond with her.”

“Don’t feel bad for not feeling anything for her. She is not my biological daughter, but she is my daughter in my heart. I will love her and raise her, and let her know that she is the most important baby in my world. I couldn’t love her more if she were mine. I thank you for the gift of this beautiful baby, and I promise you that I will never neglect this precious gift.”

“I just wish that everyone didn’t think so badly of me for this. Everyone thinks that I am selfish and uncaring,” she said.

Luna nodded. “People will think what they will. However, I believe that the most unselfish thing you did was give this baby a home where she will have parents who love her. By doing what you knew was best for you; you gave her a chance to find what you knew you could not give her. I think you showed how much you truly cared when you left her with your parents.”

“Thank you for that, Luna. Thank you for taking my baby and being her mother. I know that you will be a wonderful Mum. Ron has told me many stories about you,” she said with a smile.

“Ron sees things differently than I do,” she smiled. “But don’t worry; I won’t let the Nargles get her.”

Kim frowned. “What are Nargles?”

“What are you looking for?” Ron asked, standing in the doorway as he watched his older brother search.

“Ron!” George said jumping up and striding towards his brother. “Where have you been, mate?”

They stood next to each other, both trying to find the words they needed to say.

“I went to America.”

“America? Why there?”

Ron shrugged. “It was a long way from here and they still spoke English.”

George nodded. “Where at?”

“Seattle.”

“Wow! The west coast. What did you do there?”

“I got a job serving fish and chowder.”

George snorted. “You? Work? Good one, Ron.”

Ron growled. “You guys think that you know me, but you don’t. You treat me like I’m a baby. I’m a not like you and the rest of this family doesn’t give you the right to treat me the way that you do. I might not have the same opinions and likes and dislikes, but I am still a part of this family. I am still a person with feelings and needs.”

George raised an eyebrow and let Ron continue.

“I feel like you and Fred go out of your way to treat me like crap. I feel like the two you constantly pick on me and make me the butt of your jokes. I need you to understand that I will not tolerate the way that you treat me any longer. It’s time that the two of you grew up and started treating me with respect.”

George whipped out his wand and held it at Ron’s neck. “Ok, who the hell are you, and what have you done with my brother?” he demanded. There was no way this man was Ron. Ron would never talk about feelings and emotions.

Ron snatched the wand away and tossed it to the floor. “Knock it off you idiot,” he said. “Am I not allowed to talk about how I feel? Not all men are repressed you know.”

“Who the hell are you?” George demanded.

Ron sighed. “I watched a lot of telly while I was in America. There was this Muggle doctor named Phil. He said men can express their feelings. And then there was this woman named Ellen. She said that women like it when men are more expressive about their feelings. Another one named Oprah said the same thing. If that’s what a woman wants then I’ll try.”

George burst out laughing. “Is that what Muggles do all day? Watch telly about people talking about their feelings?”

“That and eat fish and chowder,” Ron grumbled.

“Alright, seriously, what we did was wrong, and I am sorry. I’ll never admit it again and if you ever tell anyone I’ll deny it. That being said, let’s eat. Mum made cookies.”

Ron grinned. “I hope they have chocolate in them.”

“This has been my home for so many years I can’t believe I am finally leaving.” Alice glanced over to her husband’s bed. She knew he would never leave the room and she felt sad about that. She also had been sedated for so long she no longer had the deep emotional tie to her husband that she once did. Now he was just a sad part of her past.

“There’s no point in staying here, Mum. You’re well now.”

“I know, dear. I want to go home, trust me, I do. It just feels strange. What does your grandmother say?”

Millie and Neville looked at each other and then they both grinned. “She’s moving into the dowager house. She said that she wasn’t going to let you take her house.”

Alice snorted. “She’s welcome to it. I’d much rather stay in the Manor with you and Millie.” She looked at the young couple for a moment. “That is alright with you isn’t it?”

“Of course! Especially now,” Neville said grinning at his wife.

“We could use the help,” Millie grinned back.

Alice gasped. “Are you expecting?”

Millie and Neville both nodded. “A daughter,” Neville said proudly.

“I’m to be a grandmother?” she cried. “Oh Neville! Millie! You don’t know how happy this makes me!”

“Shall we go now, Mum?” Neville asked, leading her towards the door.

“I’m ready now,” she smiled. She walked towards the door and then stopped at her husbands bed. “Good bye, Frank. I can’t stay here with you any longer, but I’ll come visit you. We’re to be grandparents now, and Neville needs me.” She leaned down and kissed her husband’s cheek. She stood and smiled at her small family. “Let’s go home.”
