CHAPTER 4

Admiral Lucius Malfoy's frown intensified as soon as he saw the sleeping infant in Roark Sr.'s arms.  With narrowed blue eyes, he demanded, "Who's child is that?  And what is it doing here?  This is an official meeting--"

Roark Sr frowned himself now, feeling his son and son-in-law tense at their son being called an IT.  "If you really must know, this is my youngest grandson.  His name is Hunter, and I will be a very unhappy grandpapa if you wake him up."

Hearing the warning in that tone, Lucius backed off a bit.  For all that he was matching rank, Roark Killian Durin was the one who held all the power as the head of their Military.  Given that power by President Adar just after he had taken office as President of the Twelve Colonies.

He heard a stiffled chuckle and turned his head.  Captain Roark Peverell Potter straightened and saluted, meeting his icy gaze with a slight twist of his lips.

"Good afternoon, Admiral," he said with a nod.  " A pleasure to see you again."

: Liar. :  That single word, spoken at the exact same time by father and husband, nearly had him laughing again.

"Ah...yes, the ever lucky Captain Roark Peverell Potter.  How are you, Captain?"

: Not that he cares one bit how you are, : Roark Sr. grumbled into his mind.

: Of course, he doesn't care, Papa, but one of his stature must maintain the niceties of polite society."

A snort of derision came.  : Since when, may I ask, has Lucius Mal-- :  "I'm quite well, Sir, thank you for asking," Roark said easily.  "And you?  I trust you and Siress Narcissa are both well?"

Draco, as his father was talking with that spoiled menace, noticed the tall, ruggedly handsome man standing off to the side, watching the interactions between his father, Admiral Durin, and Roark with an air of distinct amusement.  He stood about six-two, his body well-toned, muscular and he looked to weigh about two forty.  He wore the black and scarlet of a Colonial Counter-Intelligence Officer, the pins on the collar of his uniform shirt and scarlet jacket marking him as a Lt. Colonel, as well as a viper pilot.

His hair was a thick, run your fingers through it, sable brown, came his sudden thought, those sherry brown eyes turning to meet his own blue as if he sensed his interest, which he had.  Finding himself wanting to know who this man was, he moved toward him, extending his hand as he reached him.

"Lt. Draco Draconis Malfoy.  I don't believe that we've met."

The brow arched further.  "No, Lt. Malfoy, we have not," he said with a slight inclination of his head, completely ignoring the hand held out to him.  "Lt. Colonel Rodolphus Lestrange, Colonial Counter-Intelligence, and the Galactica's Strike Commander.  Meeting me before would have been quite impossible as I was an Undercover Specialist up until a short time ago."

Draco was about to ask him something when a new voice broke in suddenly. "Excuse me, Admiral, but everyone is seated and waiting for you."

"Thank you, Omega, we're coming right now."

"Yes, let's get this meeting started.  I want to know what was so damned important...Draco, come."

"Yes, Sir, coming," Draco returned, returning his gaze to Rodolphus.  "Perhaps we could get a drink later?" he asked, then turned away to hurry after his father.

Rodolphus watched his go with some disbelief before turning to look at his husband as he carefully took his sleeping son, settling the boy to his chest.  "Did he really just try to flirt with me?" he asked as they turned to head into the conference room.

A chuckle sounded as an amused voice said, "Rather badly if you were to ask me."

          They both turned.  "Evan."

"Hello, gorgeous," he said in a low voice, an arm slipping around his waist, head bending to steel a quick kiss.  "Ready to surrender yourself to me?"

Roark very nearly groaned.  "Damn it, Evan."

"You just can't help yourself, can you?" Rodolphus asked with an arched brow,  looking between them.

"Nope.  Can't help it.  You two are so...." he looked at each of them..."UM...yeah," he said, licking his lips.

A rough chuckle sounded.  "Alright, Major, do stop trying to seduce my brother and his husband,"  Dacian appeared suddenly through a hidden door, Severus following him, reaching immediately to take Hunter from his sire, who opened his mouth--

"Yes, Rodolphus?  Do you wish to say something?  I'll just hold him until the meeting's over.  That way you don't run the risk of waking him when you give your reports," he said as they moved into the conference room together.
