Chapter 4

A/N Sorry my last update was so short. I am hoping to have a few more updates soon. Like I said a lot going on and not much time to write. Anyway here's chapter 4

Chapter 4

Back in the common room the three friends were opening their books and parchment to work on their assignments. Hermione started with her Potions work, as she was unable to get much done during class itself. She started off fine and then her mind began to wander again and she started staring off. Ron and Harry were asking her questions about Charms and Transfiguration and she didn't even hear them until Harry tapped her on the arm. "What is going on with you 'Mione?" Ron asked. "Yeah, you've been acting weird all day." Harry pointed out. "Sorry guys, I have a lot on my mind." She responded trying not to give anything away with her tone. "Hey you were supposed to tell us what Snape said after class today." Ron pointed out. "Oh he just wanted to tell me something. Nothing major." She tried to lie. Something she was horrible at. Harry looked at her face and noticed her lie, but said nothing. Ron on the otherhand believed her and had decided that whatever Snape had to say was of no importance to him. He finished one assignment and decided he was heading to bed. He bid his two friends good night and went to his room. After waiting long enough to make sure Ron was not listening in, Harry turned to Hermione and asked, "What really happened after Potions today?" She knew that she couldn't get anything past Harry. "He asked me if I was ok." "Why? Is something wrong?" Harry looked concerned. "No, everything is fine. He had only noticed I was not raising my hand every time he said something or asked a question." "OH. I did notice that you were a little quieter today." Harry said. "Yes, well, I told him that I was trying to change my behavior because I knew that it was childish and was annoying to him. I mentioned that I knew he was still recovering and did not want to aggitate him or put him under any stress." "What did he say to that?" "He said that was very grown up of me and that if I truly am trying to change those behaviors that I may possibly have an apprenticeship here when I graduate." "BLOODY HELL 'MIONE!" Harry almost yelled, but remembered he was trying to avoid prying ears. "That's amazing." "Yes, I know Harry. I've been thinking about it all afternoon." "He really must have changed to give you an offer like that and be serious. Nothing toward you personally, I just thought he hated all of us." What neither of them knew was that Snape did not hate any of them. His feelings towards the trio of friends was quite the opposite, although he wasn't aware of that himself.

Back in his own chambers, Snape was sitting by the fire sipping on a Butterbeer that a house elf fetched for him. He was thinking about the events that happened today. 'Was Hermione Granger actually behaving in his class today? Did he really offer her an apprenticeship without the headmaster's concent? Did his heart skip a beat when she smiled at the thought of working with him all the time?' He stopped. Pulled the memory from class today out of his head and placed in the penceive. Before sticking his head into it he questioned one thing, was she really looking at him like she cared about him as more than just her professor? Before he could stop himself for thinking about that, he shoved his face into the penceive.

*Snape saw himself walking around his classroom talking to his students. He made sure to look at each one to make sure they weren't passing notes or falling asleep. When he noticed his gaze fell on Hermione. He now noticed that she wasn't just being quiet, but she was staring off into space. She was still writing notes on his lecture but you could tell by the look on her face that he thoughts were elsewhere. Class was about over when he watched himself tell the students out their assignments. Mentioning her name she popped out of her daze and stared at him. Snape watched her face much closer this time and noticed that when she looked up at him she had a very different look. Not one of confusion or anger for him telling her to stay after. It was something he didn't quite reccognize. When she walked up to his desk, he made sure to stand behind himself watching her the whole time. When she heard him talk about the apprenticeship her eyes grew very wide and she started to smile at him. She was dismissed and he rushed over to the door to catch one last look at her before the memory faded and noticed when she walked out she had that look on her face again with an even bigger smile. Almost like what he witnessed with other students when they were of age to begining to become infatuated with the opposite sex.*

Back in his sitting room he sat on his chair thinking about what he just witnessed. Much closer this time. Excitement grew within him. He never noticed before that the young witch liked him as more than a teacher. Maybe something happened after the war, maybe she was just happy that he was alive, maybe something else made her smile like that... Maybe she was the reason he was still alive. Maybe... just maybe...

TBC...

Will Snape figure it out on his own? Will Hermione finally come clean with him about her actions and feelings? Will everything blow up in their faces? I guess you will have to wait for the next chapter to find out. Will update more soon! Please rate and review. THANKS! :)
