The Defining Prophecy
Chapter Three
Author's Note: I have received several concerns about the pairing in this fiction in both emails and reviews. Concerns are not warranted! This is completely a Tomione fiction! My note at the begining of the story simply meant that although I had place this in the Hermione/Voldemort category I was not promising that Voldemort would triumph against Harry at the end of the story because of the power Hermione would give him. I didn't realize that my note was interpreted to mean that Voldemort and Hermione would not end up together.
This chapter will be shorter than the others, please forgive me!
Hermione heard the banging. Her grunt of frustration was obviously interpreted by Mrs. Weasley as, "Oh yes please come in and loudly wake me up at what is no doubt an ungodly early hour." "Good morning dear, I've made breakfast, now please come down and eat you're becoming as scrawny as and Harry and I won't allow it." "My goodness what's wrong Hermione!" Fantastic, her night of crying and fitful sleep had been noticed. "Oh I'm fine Mrs. Weasley, I just had a rough night, bad dreams and stresses about the new term. I'll be down in a minute for breakfast." Molly Weasley left the room after a worried glance directed at Hermione.
She emerged in the hallway several minutes after Molly and ran right into Harry as he walked towards the stairs. "Oh Harry I'm so sorry! I'm still so tired, I don't know why Mrs. Weasley has to wake us up so early." Harry said nothing but stared at her red and swollen eyes, evidence of her rough night. Hermione could practically hear the wheels in his head turning and she quickly ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. Harry could wait, she wasn't prepared for his attitude yet, her emotions weren't stable.
Caught up in her thoughts she once again paid no attention to where she was going and ran right into Professor Snape, who was obviously here on Order business. "UGH!! Professor I'm so sorry! I really don't know what's wrong with me today." She received a sneer in response, but she quickly re-gathered her thoughts. "Professor I've been meaning to talk to you, I know that Dumbledore has told you about what's happening to me, and I want help." The pale man looked taken aback, "Honestly Miss. Granger are you stupid? You know that I am completely beyond helping you." Hermione stared, openly hurt, and then swiftly rephrased, "No no sir, I simply want information, and maybe some guidance, I think something's wrong with Harry, he's changing, and for the worse. I myself have experienced some changes, but apparently that I cannot help. I've deduced that the Dark Lord has had no noticable change in personality and therefore I don't see why Harry is acting this way. It makes no logical sense.
Snape's sneer became deeper, "I find it interesting that He Who Must Not Be Named has quickly become the Dark Lord." Hermione blushed. "I have more important matters to take care of Miss Granger, but if time allows, I will return later in the day with some information that may be educational for you."
For the first time that day Hermione actually felt good, and slightly hopeful. Until she realized that she had been left in the kitchen with a newly arrived Harry.
Note Continued: Sorry for the length! I'll try to post another chapter tonight! But now its time to go see The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo!! WOOT WOOT
