Rini 2

I was still sitting at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall with Harry and Ron just talking.

“So what’s it like in a world without Voldemort?” I asked fully entriged.

“Come on, Mione, enough with the act.” Ron said.

I snorted and stuck my nose in the air. “I’m not acting, Ronald.”

“Hey Weaselbee, maybe now you’ll actually have a chance at getting in Granger’s pants.”

“Drake stop it just go away until you come to your senses.”

Malfoy looked at me dumbfounded for a second and then grabbed me and pulled me into the hall. “I don’t know what your problem is mud blood, but you better get over it. I’m not on a first name bases with you,’ he said as he came to a stop. “Seesh it’s only the first week and the Golden Trio has already gone nutso,” he said more to himself. “Anyways mudblood, stay away from me.” He pushed me and I hit the wall behind me. He started back toward the Great Hall.

I pushed myself off the wall and strode after him and grabbed his arm. He wheeled around with an evil look across his face; I punched him square in the nose. “That’s for calling me a mudblood,” I kneed him in the groin, “and that’s for being so foul.” I walked away from his cowering, whimpering form and back into the Great Hall where Crabbe and Goyle were holding Harry and Ron back, once they saw me they bolted out the door to find Malfoy.

“Are you ok, Rini?” Harry asked.

I nodded. “Please don’t call me Rini anymore. I can’t stand the person who gave that name to me.”

Harry and Ron looked at each other and shrugged. “Come on, Mione, let’s go to the common room,” Harry said.

We walked into the common room and my jaw dropped. “Wow, it’s so bright in here compared to Slytherin.”

“Yeah we know,” they both said.

“How?”

“Second year we used polyjuice potion and snuck in.” Harry smirked. "You were supposed to go with us but you had accidently gotten cat's hair from the girl you were going to be instead of her hair and you grew ears, and a tail, and whiskers, and fur.

“Oh.” I walked around looking at ever small detail. “So where do I sleep?”

“Upstairs. But Ginny should be here soon to show you exactly where,” Ron answered.

I nodded. “It must be great here.” I pulled on my left sleeve, scratching my arm. “I mean with no Dark Lord ruling over everything and everyone.” I plopped down on the couch by the fire and closed my eyes.

Harry and Ron sat down beside me giving me quizzical looks. I felt them and looked up.

“You’re really freaking us out with that imaginary world of yours,” Ron stated.

I stood up throwing me hands in the air. “It’s not imaginary, it’s real. Look I’ll prove it to you.”

“How?” Harry said standing up.

“Where are my trunks?”

“Upstairs.”

I huffed. “So I have to wait for Ginny?” they nodded. “Alright then, maybe this.” I rolled up the sleeve on my left arm and shoved my arm in their faces. “See. No joke.”

Their faces held pure horror. “H-Hermione, is-is t-that the d-d-dark mark?” Ron whispered.

“No Ronald it’s a fairy and a unicorn,” I snapped sarcastically.

Harry grabbed my arm inspected it and ran for the door pulling me with him. Ron ran after us trying to keep up.

“Where are you taking me, Harry?” I asked as he pulled me down yet another corridor.

“Dumbledore,” he panted. As we got to the statue he screamed the password (Time Tells All) and climbed the stairs two at a time. I almost fell a couple of times (tear). He burst into the office and pulled me over to Dumbledore’s desk shoving my arm in his face. “Look!”

Dumbledore took my arm and looked at it carefully. “Miss Granger, how did you get this?”

“Isn’t it obvious, sir? The Dark Lord gave it to me.”

“Yes that is obvious, but how? When?”

“Over the summer after Harry died.”

Dumbledore looked at me questioningly. “But Harry is standing right beside you.“

“Yes I know. But something has happened and I shouldn’t be here.” Merlin he's so daft.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean that… I don’t know what I mean.” I sat down in a comfy chair. “All I know is everything is different than it was three days ago.”

“Explain please?”

I nodded. “I’m supposed to be in Slytherin and a pureblood. Harry is supposed to be dead. Ron is being held captive by Sirius. I’m engaged to Draco. Voldemort is in power and you are in hiding. I think that about covers the main points.”

“Interesting.” Dumbledore folded his hands and rested his chin on them. “This is a very pressing matter.” He looked from me to Harry and Ron. “Will you two go get the professor’s for me?” They nodded and ran out of the room. Dumbledore turned back to me. “What do you suppose happened?”

“I’m not sure, sir. But I like it.”

He cocked an eyebrow. “You didn’t like your old home?”

“No sir, it was too dark for my liking. Yes i may have grown up with it but that doesn't mean I had to like it; especially since I've seen how bright it is here.”

The room fell silent for several minutes until Harry and Ron burst back in with every professor in tow.

“Aw… my friends we have a very pressing problem on our hands.”

“Has Voldemort found a way to rise again?” came a voice from the back of the room.

“No. Not in this world.” The room feel eerily silent.

“What do you mean, Albus?” McGonagall asked.

He didn’t ignore her, he simply did not answer her. “Firenze is there any way that there could be other worlds out there?”

“Do you mean planets, sir?” the centaur stepped forward.

“No. I mean like another earth.”

“There could be but I should research it.”

Dumbledore nodded and looked at me. “If you are here then our Hermione must be where you left.”

“I supposed. But I do feel sorry for her. It’s like hell there.”

“Would you please stay here and tell me more?”

“Sure, I guess.”

He dismissed everyone but Harry and Ron. I started by telling him about the battle and how Harry died. I told him how the order had dissipated and how some even came to work for the Dark Lord. How the muggles had become servants. How even the slightest talk on non-allegiance to the Dark Lord could land you dead or worse. At around ten he had heard enough and dismissed us to our tower.

When we got back Ginny was sitting in the common room waiting.

“It’s about time you guys got here,” she squealed. She ran over to me and gave me a hug. “I’m so glad you’re ok.”

“Uh… Ginny?” Harry said.

“Yes, Harry?”

“That’s not Hermione,” Ron said.

“Yes it is. Look. What are you talking about?”

I lifted up my sleeve knowing it was the only way to convince her. “I’m from another world. I guess you could say.”

“Oh.” She stepped away.

“Don’t worry, Ginny. She’s just as good as ours,” Ron said and patted his sister on the back.

She looked at me with pleading eyes. “Seriously?”

I nodded. “I never liked the bad things anyways.”

She squealed and hugged me again. “Come on I’ll show you our room.”
