Journals

hey everyone... im feeling very sick right now... :whimpers:

please review to get more input.

*~*~*~*~*~*~Enjoy*~*~*~*~*~*~

On the nightstand was the dual journals that Ginny had given him. The moonlight filled the room making the room almost glow a blue tone. Harry flopped over onto his side, accidentally knocking the journals to the floor. He sat up and reached over to pick them up.

The leather felt slightly warm and Harry stared at the books in his hands for a moment before nodding to himself. He quickly went to his trunk, picking up one of the books Hermione had given him over the course of their friendship.

After flipping through the pages impatiently, he finally found what he wanted:

A spell to transfer objects to people far away.

He carefully picked up one of Bellatrix's letters and slid it into the front cover of the journal with the black ribbon as a homing device and said the spell quietly. The journal seemed to fade out of sight and Harry panicked for a moment before opening his own journal and taking up a quill.

Bellatrix.

This is a two-way journal and the best way I could think of to get information from you quickly. Please write back.

Harry.

Inside the cell Bella had been trying to sleep and failing miserably when both the letter and the journal plop right onto her head.

"Ow...!" she squeaked then looked at it.

She opened the book to see the writing. She grabbed her quill the was just barly a quill. Lucius glanced up, woken by Bellatrix's shout.

"What's happened? What is that?" Bellatrix looks at it.

"A two way Journal to Potter." She starts to write back

"Hm... i havent seen one of these since Cissa and i were grounded for a month for bleaching Sirius's hair. Let me read your letter and i will tell you what i can." Harry watched Bellatrix's words appear, fascinated at the way the ink seemed to melt into the page.

A few minutes pass as Bellatrix read the letter than started to write.

"Im sorry to cause such problems on your Birthday but you did need to know. Your parents are currently staying at my late husbands home. The place is surrounded by wards made by our lord since Lily and JAmes are his closest followers." It was a long time before Harry's words began to appear in Bellatrix's journal.

"They follow Voldemort? Why?" Bellatrix smiles slightly as she sighs softly.

"Because during school they realized the truth about Dumbledore. Tell me what has Dumbledore told you my lords plans are for the world?"

"Um." Harry thinks hard about this. "He said that Voldemort hates muggles and muggleborn wizards. He told us that Voldemort's ultimate goal was to kill off all muggles." Bellatrix blinks rapidly.

"Well thats pushing it abit... he has a dislike for muggles and muggleborns but he is more angry at those who try to hurt us. Mostly his idea is that we shouldnt hide who we are... Dumbledore wants to keep us in the dark."

"I thought Dumbledore wanted to protect the muggles and keep magic users safe. But..." Harry hesitated a moment before continuing. "I've thought before that it was stupid for us to hide. I mean, how are we ever going to get muggles to accept us if they don't even know about us?"

"Do you remember when Voldemort said that you could be with your parents again during your first year? He was wanting to help you. If anything my lord admires your determination." Harry stared at the page for several minutes without responding.

"He admires my...me?"

"He told me so himself..." there was a long pause between her words. "Sorry... Dementor moved over the bars."

"I hate those things.."

"I always feel so weak around them..."

"They make me hear..." Harry stopped dead, staring at his own hand. "I...don't even know what they make me hear. I thought it was my parents's death, but if they're still alive..."

"Your mother did scream that night... she screamed at Dumbledore to give her back her baby."

"This is so weird. I can't believe how much my life has changed since this morning."

"I hope i didnt ruin your birthday."

"I don't regret it. I just...I'm glad my parents are alive, but I'm scared at the thought of meeting them. What if they're disappointed in me? What if they think I'm stupid for buying into Dumbledore's lies?"

"They arent... if anything they are just more angry at Dumbledore. So im curious why did you give me this book and not that little fuzzy haired girl you were with?"

"Hermione? She's just a-" Harry's eyes widened as he realized the implications of what he was about to write.

If Hermione was "just" a friend, what did that make Bellatrix? He tried to magic the ink away, but the journal refused the spell, instead turning the ink red.

"Damn" Harry muttered to himself. "Er. I talk to her in school a lot. I don't need to talk to her out of it."

"You were going to say something else Harry. Its not good to lie to someone who has made a living off of lying to people."

"She...she's just a friend."

"Oh then what about the red head girl... Wealsey's youngest?"

"Er. No. We dated for a while, but...it didn't work out." Harry stared at his writing, hardly believing he was talking about his with Bellatrix Lestrange of all people.

"Then... does that mean you would rather talk to me than those girls?" Harry bit his lip.

"I...suppose it does."

"I sence some hesitation from you Harry... do you have an attraction to the dark side?"

"No! I don't! I just...you have information on my parents!"

"I seemed to have struck a nerve."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Harry rubbed a hand over his red face.

"I just thought this would be the quickest way to get information."

"Your just like your father..."

"What? How?" Harry grinned despite himself. He'd always heard he was like his father, but for some reason it meant more coming from this woman who, until today, considered his enemy.

"When ever your mother caught him talking about his feelings she was call him out on it but he would back petal so fast he would lose track of what he was defending" Harry dropped his head against the book, groaning.

The journal in Bellatrix's hands twitched and the pages compressed under the imprint of something round and heavy. Bellatrix couldnt help the almost girl like chuckle escape her as she wrote in the book.

"Its not good to press your head into this book." Harry felt something move against his forehead and sat up to find it was Bellatrix's writing.

"How did you know!"

"The book was being compressed so i guessed it was your head."

"Oh. That's really weird." Harry waited a moment for the ink to dry before pressing his whole hand into the page.

A handprint appeared on the page before Bellatrix. Bellatrix blinked the smiled pressing her hand into his. Her hand was smaller and almost spidery in feel and slightly smaller than his.

"Wow." Harry murmured to himself, flexing his hand against Bellatrix's. The pages felt like they were really pressed between two hands, even warming slightly with their body temperature. Bellatrix smiled feeling his hand as the hole in her heart was filling slightly. Her fingers almost curled into his almost desiring to feel his skin against her own.

Reluctantly, Harry removed his hand, but not before tickling Bellatrix's palm with his fingers. He almost bit through his lip once he'd realized what he'd done. Why was he so comfortable with her?

Bellatrix pulled her hand back as she felt like giggling for the first time in her life. Suddenly a thought made her sick to her stomach.

Was she attracted to a boy who just crossed into the age of consent?

Slowly she began to write.

"Why do you want to talk to someone who you have said is a nutter?"

"I..." there was a long pause as Harry tried to figure out how to answer a question he didn't know. "I'm not sure. I just...do."

There was a long pause as Bellatrix felt a fluttering in her stomach. Never had she had someone want to talk to her about anything. She looked at the book and gently drew a picture of a cat saying "Thank you." Harry couldn't help but laugh.

The cat was so cute. After thinking for a moment, he drew a fluffy mane on the cat.

"I'm a Gryffindor, remember?" He smiled down at the journal, wondering where his sanity had gone. Bellatrix chuckled softly and drew a snake gently wrapped around the lion::

"You...you're pretty good."

"Thanks... i do better portraits of people though." Bellatrix smiles softly as the door to Harry's room opens and Sirius looks in.

"Harry why are you still up?" Harry slams the book shut and shoves it under the bed, turning to his godfather.

"S-Sirius! I- ah..." Bellatrix blinks as she could see her book was no longer working... she gently drew a tiny heart between the snake and the lion thinking that Harry wouldnt be able to see it. Sirius looked at him raising an eyebrow.

"What are you doing up?" *Think think think, Harry!* Harry yelled at himself.

"Uh..." He grabbed for the book he'd looked up the transfer spell in, holding it up for Sirius to see.

"R-reading!" Sirius raised an eyebrow.

"Uh huh. Well get some sleep."

"Uh sure!" Harry hurriedly climbed into bed, forgetting that he was still clothed.

"G'night!" Sirius shut the door quietly.

Harry dove for the book, opening it and picking up his quill. He was about to write, when he spotted the heart. His hand froze, ink dripping from the quill and leaving a splotch on the blank page next to the one they'd been writing on.

"Harry? Are you alright?"

"Uh. Yeah...Sirius came in."

"Ah ha... well what did he want?"

"To know why I was still awake. I told him I was reading." Harry draws a tiny question mark above the heart.

Bellatrix sees the question mark as the sudden thought that he could see it made her heart sink.

"Well um... its just a little heart i like drawing hearts... they're pretty." Harry frowned, wondering why his chest felt so heavy suddenly.

"Oh. Well. Yeah, they're pretty I guess." Bellatrix bit her lip slightly as she started to draw many hearts some with arrows threw them some with shading.

She subconsiously wanted Harry to realize what the hearts were meaning. Harry hesitated a moment before adding one of his own just below the cat's paw. It was slightly lopsided and messy, but recognizable nonetheless. His heart began beating a bit faster as he watched Bellatrix's drawings appear.

Bellatrix smiled as her own heart raced. She gently drew a heart over lapping on Harry's. She had never felt this giddy or happy... was this an effect of the prison or was it real?

Lucius opened his eyes slightly, watching his sister-in-law with interest. She'd said she was writing Harry Potter, but why should the whelp have such an effect on her? Harry smiled softly at the appearance of the heart connected to his and pressed his finger to it. Bellatrix smiled and touched her finger to the heart as she breifly looked over to Lucius. She ignored him.

"You probably should get some sleep." Harry yawned widely and smiled.

"I should, yeah. But...I really don't want to." Bellatrix chuckles slightly and touched the book gently.

"You need your sleep."

"You're a lot different than I thought you would be. I never thought Bellatrix LeStrange would be mothering me." Bellatrix felt a rock hit her stomach.

She didnt want to be a mother to him! That thought worried her deeply.

"Ya... thats me the motherly type." Harry laughed.

"Just an expression. I don't think I could ever see you as a mother." Harry hesitated. "Well, my mother anyway." Bellatrix suddenly relaxed at his words.

"Thanks... not that i wouldnt like to be a mother... then again why bring a child into this world if im here in prison?" Harry chewed the end of his quill before responding.

"Hey...would you tell me...you don't have to. But, what were you doing when you got caught?" Bellatrix paused for a moment then sighed.

"Cissa and i were trying to keep Draco from being found by the Ministry and we were in an empty store and... when i turned around Cissa and Draco were gone."

"Draco! Why wo-" Harry stopped mid-word.

If he'd been wrong about Dumbledore and Bellatrix...But Draco had been evil to him for his entire school career!

"I know you and Draco havent always been friends... hes just... well hes a lot like me he doesnt know how to make real friends."

After thinking for several minutes, Harry began writing.

"I...had the chance to be his friend once. But he'd just insulted the only other kid who'd ever been nice to me so...I might have been a little..." Harry hesitated, unsure what word he was really looking for.

"Rude? He was upset about that but i gave him a knock on the head for acting like his father. Sometimes i want to clock Lucius on the head for turning Draco into a mini him." Harry chuckled.

"I used to wonder what would have happened if I'd taken his hand. I might be in Slytherin right now." Harry gasped at his confession.

"Not surprising. You should have been in Slytherin anyway. At least then you would have Snape on your side."

"Yeah. As it stands, he hates me."

"You should see him around your mother. All she has to do is suggest he do something and he would do it."

"How does D- er. My father feel about that?"

"He gets pissed off and threatens Snape often but Lily calms him down quickly."

"Sirius says that he and Snape were like Draco and me in school."

"From what i hear they still are... i always envyed Sirius..." Bellatrix stopped writing as she curled up slightly. Harry frowned briefly.

"Envied? Why?"

"He could have friends and still be himself... my only friend is Cissa."

"I...would like to believe that we could be friends..."

"Just friends?" Bellatrix wrote before she could stop herself.

She felt like kicking herself for voicing her heart so bluntly. Harry sat up hurriedly, setting the book in his lap and re-reading Bellatrix's words several times.

"What-" Harry's hand shook so badly that the word was barealy legible. "What did you have in...in mind?" Bellatrix gulpped as she felt a feeling of panic fill her.

"Well i... thoguht..."

"Y- yeah?" Bellatrix couldnt say anything as she couldnt voice her feelings any further. "I want to see you." Harry gulped, but left the words as they were, waiting Bellatrix's response.

Bellatrix looked at the words her eyes wide. Her heart was racing faster than the fastest snitch.

"Thats... not possible... you dont... want to see this place." Harry grinned, despite the seriousness of what he was about to say.

"Well. I guess the only way then, is to get you out of there." The book in his hand nearly leaps out of his hand as it ment she had dropped the book. Inside it she was writing fast.

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!"

"Probably. What's wrong?" Harry ran his hands soothingly over the pages.

Bellatrix was shocked at his words.

"But Harry if you break me out Dumbledore would be pissed and wonder why i got out a second time." Harry sighed.

"I know, but...I can't stand the thought of anyone having to deal with those dementors..." Bellatrix looked at the book then gasped as she saw the sun was rising.

"It's almost morning... we have been talking all night." Harry glanced at the window, seeing the pinkening horizon.

"Whoa. You're right. It doesn't feel like it's been that long..."

"I know... go see your parents today... im not going anywhere." Bellatrix sighed deeply as she leaned against the wall.

"Yeah. Maybe...maybe I will."

"Go ahead... I'll talk to you some time. Say hello to Lily for me."

"I...yeah. Okay. Well...sleep well."

"You too..." Bellatrix writes then makes a small heart after too and shuts the book. Harry hugs the journal to his chest, laying down on his back and staring at the cieling.
