Note: I do not own Harry Potter or any of the characters. I do this for fun, I do not make any profit
Draco awoke that morning with a grin on his face. Usually not a morning person he found himself jumping out of bed. Walking into the shower for his morning routine he was already aroused as he stepped into the shower. Thinking about her just got him hard. She was just so unpredictable, and the passion that just flowed around her had him wanting to be near her just to see what she would do. He imagined she was in the shower with him. He slowly backed her against the wall. Sighing she pushed herself closer to him, ran her hands down his body and started stoking him. Draco groaned and bit her neck. Grabbing the backs of her thighs he lifted her up and thrust into her. She gasped his name as he pounded into her. Pulling her hair back he looked her in the eye and kissed her passionately. Imagining how sweet she would taste as he pounded her faster and faster until she screamed and clenched around him. Draco tightened his grip and choked out her name as he came,
“Hermione”.
He cleaned himself up and finished up the shower knowing that the day would be much easier now that he got that over with. He looked in the mirror as he got dressed and stopped himself. He looked impressive. Black pants, nice dark silver shirt, no tie. But looking at his face he found himself smiling. He couldn’t help it, today was a new day with new people. New chances.
“I need to stop grinning like an idiot; she’ll think I’m bloody mental”
He practiced maintaining a serious face and hardening his gaze. His father had taught him to perfect it over the years. All part of being in the Malfoy family. Once he had calmed himself down he grabbed his wand and exited his room heading down to the classroom.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hermione had woken in an almost similar mood. However being a morning person it wasn’t hard for her to jump out of bed and wander into the shower. Her excitement was mainly about the things Snape was going to teach her today. All the new challenges, she had found herself bored the past few years finding she knew most of the new things people taught her. Snape however, Snape had things no one knew about. Things he was going to teach to her... And Draco. An image of Draco smiling suddenly flashed into her mind. She quickly tried to think of something else. She would be teaching! She’d always entertained the idea of being a teacher and she delighted in being able to teach and find out if it was something she’d like to do. She couldn’t imagine why she wouldn’t. She loved kids, loved learning and had incredible patience.
The first years would be no problem as they would never do anything challenging. She wondered about the second years. She’d have to teach with... Draco. She started wondering when she began thinking of him as just Draco. Not Malfoy. Malfoy was a name that seemed to overshadow the person who carried the name.
She remembered back to right after the final battle. She had wandered around to see if anyone needed help healing. And there he was, hugging his father as his mother cried, they separated and she could see they were all crying. Both Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy couldn’t stop holding their son. She knew what they’d given up to save him. Suddenly Malfoy, no, Draco looked at her and nodded, smiling softly at her. Tears running down his face. She looked right back at him and smiled in return. The gaze was broken by another fierce hug given to him by his father. No one would ever know what that battle had done to the Malfoys, she thought. Maybe someday he’d tell her. God that man was fascinating, Draco just seemed so new to her. All she ever learned about him was what she saw in school. Yet here he was. Everything about him seemed different. She wanted to find out who this new person was.
She finished up in the shower, charmed her hair dry and got dressed for the day. A knee length white skirt that was nicely form fitting, a black belt and black blouse. She grabbed her wand and exited her room, excited to begin the day.
She and Draco met at the entrance to the classroom and silently, Draco opened the door for her, earning a smile from her. Draco followed her in and found his eyes exploring her body. The soft swish of her hips, she looked so touchable. Her perfume wafted past him, pomegranate. He loved that smell. They walked into the classroom to discover a cauldron waiting for them. A black tar like substance, bubbling away. A pile of cut up ingredients sat on the table next to it.
“This is your first of many tests. This shall also be the easiest.” Snape drawled as he appeared out of nowhere. Hermione gasped softly in surprise and Draco jumped.
“In front of you is an incomplete potion. It is your job to find the missing ingredient, add it and tell me what potion this is. You have six hours, I shall be in my study should you finish early. It is a basic potion and I will be severely disappointed if you don’t finish early. Begin”
Snape slowly left the room again as Hermione and Draco looked at the cauldron and back at each other.
“I always thought he’d get less intimidating over time. Especially now that we’re adults.” Hermione mumbled.
Draco snorted, “I’ve known him all my life and he’s never changed.”
“I don’t know I guess I just thought he’d lower his defences now that we know about his past.”
“You know his past?”
“Yeah, he almost died in the final battle. Since he thought he was going to die he gave Harry a pensieve of his past.”
“Seriously? Merlin I’d kill to see that, there’s so much that man can hide.”
Hermione suddenly stopped, realizing she’d been having a casual conversation with him without even knowing it. When did they get so comfortable?
“We, we should get to work...”
“Oh” Draco said, disappointment in his voice. He was enjoying talking to her. “Yeah, I guess we should. Where do you want to start?”
“Well, we should jot down a list of the ingredients and try and find recipes with matches to start. It shouldn’t be too bad. These look like pretty basic ingredients.”
“That’s actually a pretty good idea”
Hermione gaped at him. Draco turned to her, seeing her surprised face he took a step back.
“What?”
“You, you, agreed with me.”
“So?”
“You’ve never even come close to agreeing with me on anything. Ever.”
“Yeah, I did, I just never told you. Or anyone.” He said the last bit with a bit of a cheeky grin.
“You did? What on earth did you agree with me about?”
“That Trelawney was a giant overdramatic gas bag that never knew what she was talking about. And she looked like a bug.”
Hermione burst out laughing, she couldn’t believe it! Half of the laughter was the visualization of “bug Trelawney” and half was surprise. Draco suddenly started laughing with her. She almost went completely into shock. His laughter sounded wonderful, she had never heard it before.
Hermione finally settled down, her face hurting from smiling and she looked up at Draco and said something that honest to God, made his day.
“I think I’m going to like working with you Draco.”
Draco grinned right back at her and said “I think I’m going to like working with you too Hermione.”
She smiled and walked away to grab some books while Draco set down to write down all the ingredients set in front of them and the style that they were prepared.
----------3 hours later
“That sneaking fucking asshole!” Hermione burst out slamming a book. Draco ran his fingers through his hair in frustration and looked at her.
“There are at least fifty potions with these ingredients that are made the same way. That have the same stages with black goo. He said basic to get our hopes up but he knew. HE KNEW! He knew how many potions there were. He knew this would cause problems.”
The rest of her grumbles weren’t really coherent but he knew there were a lot of violent words in there.
-----------------2 and a half hours later
“Damnit Draco we haven’t gotten anywhere!”
Both of them were tense and incredibly irritable after five and a half hours of studying that had gotten them no where
“Don’t blame me! You haven’t gotten anywhere either!” He said as he stood up from the table watching her pace.
“How can we fail our first test? We’re supposed to be the best! God damnit!” She said as she threw the book she was reading across the room.
“Calm down! Are you honestly going to throw a temper tantrum and act like a child?”
“Don’t talk to me in that condescending tone! I will not fail on my first try! I worked too hard to fail on the first day!”
“You think I’m not freaked out too!? I worked my fucking ass off to get here. I know how Snape reacts to
failure! It’s not a fucking picnic. I will never live this down if I fail. I can’t fail him again!”
They were both inches apart yelling at each other at this point. “Fail him again?” Thought Hermione, she mentally stored that one away for later because right now she was too busy taking out her frustrations on the man in front of her. Gods he was gorgeous when he was frustrated. She’d never seen him this worked up about anything. His cheeks were flushed and his silver eyes were full of life and anger as he loomed over her.
“Well guess what! We’re about to fail because we can’t figure out what the fuck we’re supposed to do! How the fuck are we supposed to last this if we can’t even do something that should be this simple!?”
“I don’t know. You’re the know it all you figure it out! I seem to be of no use!”
“You’re supposed to know as much as me if you got into this program! Don’t just expect me to know everything! I need you Malfoy!”
She saw the mixed emotions in his eyes, she needed him but she resorted back to his last name and said it with a bit more malice than was intended. Suddenly the potion started to bubble. They both looked into the cauldron and suddenly Draco grabbed Hermione, threw her on the floor and dove on top of her as the cauldron exploded. Draco clenched his jaw as the scalding potion burnt through his shirt and onto his skin. As the smoke cleared Hermione realized what position they were in. He was on top of her, one of her legs bent while the other leg wrapped slightly around his own she hadn’t been this close to a man in a long time.
“Draco” she whispered.
He turned his head to face her. Their noses were touching. He closed his eyes in an attempt to gain control but the smell of her invaded him again. He dropped his head into the crook of her shoulder and softly, very softly he kissed her neck. Hermione gasped and gripped his arms tightly. She was about to say something when the back door open. They both jumped up and jumped about 3 feet from each other.
“Failed I see” drawled Snape. “If you had paid attention you would have noticed that it smelt of blackberries. From there you could have easily found that it was an itching potion in its final stage. Shame though. I was under the impression you were the brightest available. You need to notice everything. Every detail of the potion you are working on. To do otherwise will result in failure. Now clean up this mess.”
He sneered at both of them; they were looking at the floor and blushing furiously. He turned to leave and just as they were about to breath, he turned.
“Oh and Hermione, your first class is tomorrow at ten. Try not to muck up something as simple as a first year potion.”
Snape slammed the door and both of them visibly sagged. Wordlessly they began cleaning up. When that was all done they left together. Draco opened the door for her and instead of walking her to her room he turned immediately and headed off in the opposite direction to his quarters. By the time Hermione got to her room she was in a daze. She woke up the next morning not remembering even getting ready for bed.
Draco had a face like murder on the way back to his room. Muttering his password and slamming his door he walked over to his couch, sat down and put his head in his hands. He stayed like that for a few seconds until he suddenly kicked the coffee table over stood up and screamed.
“FUCK”
