Chapter 4

“I really don’t know what the problem here is, Harry,” Ron said, taking a sip of his Butterbear. The two of them were at the Burrow, waiting for the dinner Molly was preparing – It was Mr. Weasley’s birthday.

“What’s the problem?” Harry echoed feeling frustrated. “Malfoy is the problem! I can’t understand why he wants Sam all of a sudden!”

“And I can’t understand why are you bothering with that,” said Ron, crossing his arms. “You broke up with her, and now you’re with Ginny… you do care about Ginny, right? Harry, don’t you dare hurt her, or I’m going to - ”

“I care about Ginny, okay?” Harry growled angrily. “Sam and I are over… I - I’m just worried about her, that’s all.”

Not wanting to fight, Ron took the last sip of the Butterbear and nodded. He knew Harry well enough to say that he would never hurt someone on purpose, but the fact that he was so ‘worried’ about Sam annoyed him a little. Harry told him that breaking up with Sam is the best way to go, and if he regrets it now there is a problem. Ginny really cares about him, and he didn’t think she could get over him quickly if they break up.

Sam, as a good friend of the Weasley family and Harry’s ex girlfriend, was invited to the dinner, too. The door bell rang and Ron and Harry looked in the direction of the kitchen expecting someone to open the door. Fred and George came downstairs and greeted Harry, getting comfortable on the couch. Molly hurriedly left the kitchen and wiping her hands, opened the door.

“Samantha dear, you look gorgeous,” said Molly, giving her a big hug.

Sam was wearing a green, strapless cocktail dress that came to her mid thighs. She let her curls free, not wanting to look too dressed up for the diner. Just because she broke up with Harry doesn’t mean she shouldn’t look nice and sexy.

“Thank you, Molly,” she answered, smiling. “Where’s Arthur?”

“Oh, he’s still at work, dear,” she said, taking Sam’s coat and purse. “You just come in to the living room. Harry and Ron are there.”

Nodding, Sam took a deep breath and moved her hand through her curls. She can do this, right? Just a simple dinner with her ex boyfriend and his girlfriend, in the house of his best friend who happens to be his girlfriend’s brother… she would be fine. Well, thank god Hermione will be there. At least she could talk to her and pretend she doesn’t feel uncomfortable around Harry and Ginny, who would probably be all over each other. Yeah, she would be fine…

Coming into the living room, she looked at Harry and Ron in one corner and Fred and George in the other corner of the small living room, and trying to calm herself, plastered a big smile on her face. “Hi, guys.”

“Sam,” said Harry looking at her in amazement, “You look beautiful.”

Ron smiled and shook her hand. “You really look lovely.”

“Thank you. How have you been?” she asked Ron, looking at Fred and George who were smirking at her.

Her tactic was to talk to everyone except Harry and Ginny in hope to stay calm for the whole evening and not start with the crying, which she did a lot lately.

“Been fine,” he said moving his hand through his hair. “Hermione and I are great. She’s busy with her work these days, but except that, everything’s okay.”

“I’m glad,” Sam said smiling. An uncomfortable silence filled the room, only completed with a few sounds that came from the kitchen where Molly was busy, preparing dinner.

“Well, Samantha you look apsolutely smashing,” Fred announced clapping his hand in attempt to imitate Mrs. Weasley. “Why isn’t the ferret with you?” he asked looking around the room, like Draco would suddenly pop out.

Harry snorted into his glass and noticing Ron’s stare tried to cover it by coughing. George laughed, but remembering the fact that they told Sam about Harry’s outburst chose to be quiet.

Sam was fuming by now and it wasn’t because of Fred’s joke - it was because of Harry. He thinks it’s funny? she though angrily. How dare he!

“Oh, Draco didn’t want to come with me tonight,” she said, before she even registered the sentence in her head. “He’s very busy and even if he wasn’t, you know he would never come.”

Harry choked on his Butterbear not believing his ears. “You two are together?” he asked, standing up.

By this point Sam didn’t know what the hell she was doing, so, deciding that she would look stupid if she denied everything she answered. “Of course we are. It was a matter of time, really. He’s been so persistent and how can a girl say no to him. He’s bloody handsome.” Ha! Take that Harry Potter.

“But you said that - ”

“You’re still here?” Molly said, going into the living room, not knowing that she interrupted them. “Go outside, Hermione and Ginny are on their way.”

“Oh mom,” George said desperately, “You really know when to come, don’t you?”

“What? Oh, shush George,” she said waving her hand. “Come on, come on, let’s just go outside. Arthur will be back any minute now.”

Closing the doors of her flat, Sam took off her shoes and dropping the things she was holding, lay on the couch. Dinner went well if you don’t count Harry’s constant glaring at her, Ron’s constant glaring at Harry, Ginny’s attempts to bloody shag Harry on the table, Fred and George’s annoying smirks, and Hermione’s sympathetic glances. The other guests didn’t know what was going on, but the tension was evident.

Sighing tiredly, Sam managed to go to the bedroom, where she changed her clothes to something more comfortable and flopped on the bed, thinking about her impossibly complicated life.

“So, anything new?” Blaise asked Draco the next day, plopping his feet on the desk in front of him.

“No.” Draco said feeling annoyed. “And get your feet off my table.”

He knew what was on Blaise’s mind. He wanted to know about Johnson. Draco was very annoyed by the fact that he wasn’t going anywhere. She should be begging him to take her right now! Apparently, she’s a tough one. This would have to go very slowly, but he could make it. He is, after all, a Malfoy and Malfoys never quit!

“What got your knickers in a twist, Draco?” Blaise asked smirking. “Don’t tell me little Gryffindor doesn’t want anything with you?”

“Oh, she does,” Draco answered nodding, “I can see it in her eyes. She’s just still hurt because of the Chosen One, but I’ll fix that, don’t you worry.”

“I have no doubt,” Blaise said crossing his arms. “Just be careful. If she’s hurt and you want to take advantage of that you have to be nice and sweet to her.”

“Slytherins aren’t nice and sweet,” Draco answered smirking. “And don’t tell me what to do, I have a plan.”

Blaise laughed. “What ever you sa - ”

“Excuse me, Mr. Malfoy,” Draco’s secretary said opening the door, and interrupting Blaise. “I just got a call that Miss Samantha Johnson is coming to your office to deliver some paperwork for the next match. Should I let her in?”

Blaise looked at Draco, who only smirked. “Well, of course, Susan. She can come here whenever she wants.”

The secretary left the office and Blaise stood up, raising an eyebrow. “Well well, aren’t you a lucky bastard? You have a chance now, Draco, don’t mess it up. “With that, he took the files he was supposed to work on and left the office.

Draco moved in front of his table, taking a random folder and pretending he was working on something, when he heard a knock on the door. “Come in.”

Sam came into the office, carrying a couple of folders in her hand. She closed the door and looked around the office. “Nice place you have here, Malfoy.”

“Why thank you, Johnson,” Draco said smirking. She was nervous, he noticed - more than usual. This could be fun.

“Did you come here to look around my office, or do you plan to work?” he asked, crossing his arms.

She rolled her eyes and came in front of him, giving him the folder. “I came here to give you this. Smith wanted a couple of Aurors in the next match, so this is a list of the ones that are going. If you have a problem with it, talk to Mr. Potter, he will explain everything.”

Draco raised his eyebrow. “Mr. Potter, huh? Interesting….”

She rolled her eyes again, turning on her heels to leave the office. His look was making her feel incredibly warm and she needed to get out of there now.

Before she touched the doorknob, she heard Draco muttering a locking spell and the doors clicked. She tried to open them, but it was impossible. Taking her wand, she muttered ‘Alohamora’, but nothing happened. “Malfoy, open the door, now.” She didn’t like this at all, and the look he had wasn’t actually calming her.

“Now why would I do that?” he asked, getting from the table. Oh, what a perfect opportunity. She was all alone in his office, with her wand in hand and being the Auror… well, this won’t do now.

Before she had time to raise her wand, he muttered ‘Expelliarmus’ and her wand landed in his hand.

Sam was panicking now. She was in Malfoy’s office, the door was locked and her wand was gone. Some bloody Auror she was. Draco was coming closer to her and with his every step forward, she took a step back, until her back collided with the door. “Malfoy, what do you think you’re doing?”

“I’m just having fun, is all,” he said, finally coming in front of her. “Don’t worry, Johnson I don’t bite… much.”

“Malfoy,” she said uneasily, “I-I have a lot of things to do, and I’m-“

“Shhh,” he interrupted her, putting his thumb on her lips. “No need for panic. I just want to… lets say, get to know you.” He moved the finger over her bottom lip, noticing how soft it was.

Sam kept staring into his grey eyes, finding herself to be completely immobile. The fact that he was this close didn’t actually help her fighting at all. A part of her wanted to push him away and demand from him to let her out, but another part of her just wanted to be with him.

He licked his lips and her eyes moved to them. She suddenly had a strong desire to kiss him, to taste him, and the images in her head made her shudder and close her eyes.

Draco noticed this and moving his head so that it was an inch away from her face, whispered, “I waited this for so long.” His lips were caressing hers slowly, while he was talking, and his scent was intoxicating. She felt his other hand on her waist, and wanted nothing more than to feel it sliding slowly over her heated skin.

“Draco, please…” she whispered, leaning into him.

He moved his hand around and grabbed her hair, closing that little distance that was between them. Their lips met and it felt like the temperature of the room had suddenly changed.

The kiss wasn’t slow and loving. It was demanding, hard, and it was making Sam feel dizzy. She locked her arms around his neck and moved closer to him, wanting to feel his hard body on hers. Draco’s arm that was on her waist encircled it, while the other hand went deeper into her wild hair.

He bit her bottom lip and she gasped. He took advantage of it and slowly let his tongue out, wanting to taste her so badly. She accepted him eagerly, stroking the invader with her own tongue, moving her hands through his silky hair and just enjoying the feeling.

Draco slowly broke the kiss and just stood there, holding her close. This kiss was way better than he thought it would be, and he could bet she enjoyed it like he did.

Sam was breathing heavily, trying to calm herself and accept the fact that she just kissed Draco Malfoy. Even if he was an idiot, a man who made her life a living hell, the kiss they shared was the best one she ever had. Everything about him felt so right. The way he looked at her, the was he was whispering to her, kissing her…

After a couple of moments, her brain finally started a process called thinking, and she shook her head, pushing Draco away.

He noticed her nervousness and smirked. She was so predictable.

“I-I should go, cause I, um have a lot of things to do. So, if you don’t mind, unlock the door and let me out.” She said, moving her hand through her hair that he was touching minutes ago.

He was looking at her, apparently thinking of what to do. Sighing deeply, he unlocked the door and gave her the wand that was standing on his table.

She looked surprised for a moment, but said nothing.

Clearing her throat, she raised her chin and said, “Well, Malfoy, I gave you the files you needed. I should go, now…. Have a nice day,” she finished lamely and opened the door, slipping through it very fast. She had no idea what was happening to her, but whatever it was, she suspected it wasn’t good.

Draco kept staring at the door and when she left, smirked to himself and licked his lips slowly. Well… this went better than he intended. This went much better, indeed.
