Chapter 3 – Decisions
Remus couldn’t stop looking at the girl sitting in front of him. She was so beautiful, and looked so much like Sirius that it brought a tear to his eyes. She had Sirius’s black hair, so long it was tied down her back, his nose, his chin and also his smile, but she had Remus’s ears, mouth and eyes…oh, Merlin. Her eyes were so amber with the pupils so like his.
Remus’s breath stopped.
Her eyes were so like his…his on the full moon.
Severus noticed the difference in his lover and leant down to whisper to him. “Breathe, Remy, breathe.”
“Her eyes, Sev, look at her eyes,” he whispered back with a haunted look on his face.
“I know, love. It’s OK, just talk to her.”
Remus looked at his daughter and took a deep breath, but her hand came up and she put her fingers on his lips. “Sshh. Severus told me that you would notice when others haven’t.”
She smiled. “Please don’t be worried. I know you are,” she whispered, holding her father's hand.
“I do have the lycanthropy curse, but before you say sorry, please don’t, it’s not your fault. It isn’t as bad as yours is, it has changed.”
Remus’s eyes opened widely at that and he leaned closer to her and everything else seemed to stop in time; all that mattered was the two of them.
“I was born with the lycanthrope curse in my blood, but unlike you I have more control over my wolf. I can call her when she is needed.
“I still change at the full moon, but it is not as taxing on me as it is on other werewolves.
“Also, something else happened that is unheard of; I can change my eyes into the wolf’s so I can see.”
With that, she looked into her father’s eyes and he watched in horrid fascination as her eyes changed from deep amber to pale hazel.
“You have beautiful eyes no matter what.” Ellorra smiled sadly at her father’s words. “Yes, but only one pair could see your wonderful face, Papa.”
Remus looked at her for a moment with horror then turned and searched his lover’s face for answers.
Severus’s hand lovingly squeezed his shoulder. “Remus, Ellorra was blinded in an accident when she was eleven. She has been able to change her eyes and uses the wolf’s senses to see.”
Remus shook his head and pulled Ellorra into a tight hug. “Oh, my darling. I am so sorry for the hardships you have had to endure.”
Ellorra leaned into the arms of her father. “It’s OK, Papa. I have come to live with it.”
Harry felt anger well up inside him when he listened to the conversation going on between “his family.” Anger for all the time that Remus never had with his daughter, because Sirius had made that decision. Sirius, who knew about Ellorra, but didn't say anything. Sirius, who if he wasn't dead Harry could have killed him. Harry loved Sirius, but after spending so much time with Remus, felt closer to the quiet man.
He looked over at the headmaster who was sat at his desk with Minerva who now stood behind him again; they both had tears in their eyes watching the scene in front of them.
“Professor Dumbledore, I take it you have already arranged transport for us?” He saw the headmaster nod. “I suggest we go now and settle in.”
Harry stepped over to Remus and, with Snape's assistance, helped him to stand whilst still holding his daughter. Albus stood and handed Draco a large brass key, his eyes sad.
“It will take you straight into the library.” He looked at Remus. “I am sorry for my part in this, my boy. I hope you can forgive me in time.”
Remus looked down at his daughter then at the headmaster. “I forgive you, Albus. How can I do anything else after you have bought her back to me?”
Albus nodded at this and sadly smiled at the group in front of him. “We will see you in a few weeks at the beginning of school. Till then, good luck, my children.”
Minerva smiled at the men and boys. “Good luck to you all. My best wishes to you as well, Ellorra, and my hope that we can get to know each other through your last year at school.” She turned to Harry and Draco. “Mr Potter, Mr Malfoy, I would appreciate it if you two would try and put your differences aside for the sake of the people you care about.”
Both Harry and Draco squirmed under the fearsome look of Minerva McGonagall. With that, Draco held the key out and it was touched by all. Severus looked at the headmaster and slightly inclined his head, then said the spell which activated the Portkey. Harry hated Portkeying and the feeling of his stomach being pulled through his navel, but as soon as it had started it stopped and they had arrived.
Remus stood still holding his daughter. “My dear Ellorra, welcome to number twelve Grimmauld Place, your new home.”
Ellorra smiled and yawned. Severus, seeing this, put his hand on Remus’s shoulder. “Remus, maybe we should show Ellorra her room, and then she can rest until dinner? It has been a bit of a long day.”
“Of course, come with us and we shall show you, your room.” Remus looked at Harry. “Harry, could you show Draco to a room as well?”
Harry looked at Remus, who had hope in his eyes. Hope that Harry would try and be a good host, if nothing else. “No problem Remus, I will keep Ma...Draco entertained until dinner.” Both Remus and Severus seemed relieved, and with hands on her back, they guided Ellorra out of the room, leaving Harry and Draco alone.
Draco looked around and then over at Harry, “Well, Harry, why don’t you show me where I’m going to spend the rest of my summer?”
Harry looked at Draco with surprise on his face. Two could play that game. “OK Draco, follow me.”
Draco followed Harry out of the library and into the hallway. As they started to go up the stairs Draco realised that he had a front row view of Harry Potter’s arse.
He had realised very early in their sixth year that all that Quidditch had paid off as Harry’s arse had become, very quaintly put…bloody fantastic....
When they reached the second landing, Harry pushed open a door and motioned for Draco to enter.
The room was nothing special. As Draco looked around his new quarters, the door was slammed shut and he was pushed up against the wall.
