On the first breakfast back after Christmas, Severus was sat at the far end of the Slytherin table as he could get. Lucius had commented that if Severus was any further down the table, he’d be out of the Great Hall. Severus had shot him a look and the blonde had sauntered over, dropped an arm around his shoulder and whispered in his ear.

“You okay, Sev?” He asked. Severus had nodded and just said he’d wanted some time alone. He’d been forced to make merry with the Gryffindor who’d stayed, and the few Pufflehuffs. Lucius had winced, but smirked at the nickname the Slytherin’s gave the Hufflepuff house. When Lucius had returned to his sycophants, Severus risked raising his head enough so as to look at the Gryffindor table. Rem... no, his eyes were on Lucius, burning with hatred. Then they flickered to Severus, as if sensing him watching. Those powerful, honeyed eyes then burned with possession. If eyes could form words, Remus’s would be snarling Mine at Severus. The boy lowered his head quick enough that Remus couldn’t see his reaction, and with all of Hogwarts students here, it would be difficult for the werewolf to smell his reaction.

Severus was glad, kind of. He was still mad at Remus, and he didn’t want Remus to know that that look made him want to go to him and beg him to claim him in front of the entire school. Severus shivered at that. He had to leave the Hall before he did anything... stupid.

The rest of that day, and the next, and the next, passed the same. Severus would get up, eat quickly in the Hall and dash out to his classes. How ironic, he thought it, that his favourite lesson would become his most dreaded. He snorted at that. Potions. With the Gryffindors. Remus obviously hadn’t told Potter or Black about his connection with Severus, and while that did, on some level, hurt Severus, he could understand it as well. The two idiots would probably think that Severus had brainwashed him somehow. Morons he snarled to himself as he made his way to the back of the classroom – early as usual. After snagging his place with his bag, he proceeded to go to the storage cupboard, the potion having been told at the end of the last session. A Disillusionment Potion. Meant to reverse spells more powerful than a simple finite incantatum could. It would take the entire lesson to brew, and Slughorn wanted them to start as soon as they arrived.

Severus was muttering the ingredients under his breath when the door to the storeroom shut, causing Severus to jump and whirl around. Remus. Oh dear Merlin! Severus looked straight at a slightly annoyed and very aroused werewolf.

“Severus,” he growled, stalking towards the other boy, who had enough sense to place his ingredients on the shelf, right before the wolf pounced on him and near enough slammed him against the door. Remus then began sniffing and growled even further when he noticed that his scent was not on his mate anymore. Unthinkable! That had to be rectified. So Remus kissed Severus harshly on the lips, pressing their bodies together. When they broke apart, Remus dusted his neck with kisses. Severus couldn’t help but moan and arch his body towards Remus, who was doing such wonderful things with his hands, rubbing them over his arse and round towards the front and... Knock, knock!

“What’s happened in there? The door won’t open!” Came Slughorn’s voice, and that dispelled any arousing thoughts that Severus had. He pushed Remus off with a glare. “I’m still mad at you!” His hissed, before gathering the ingredients and opening the door.

“Sorry Professor. The door got stuck. The ladders were in the way,” he gestured to the ladders next to where Remus was standing. He strode out and placed his ingredients on his desk. Lucius leaned over after getting his.

“As Lupin annoying you again? We could curse the trio like we did in September,” he suggested mildly. Severus snorted. The curse they had played had made tentacles come out of their heads, and as much enjoyment as it would cause on Potter and Black, Severus couldn’t bring himself to let Remus be cursed. He shook his head.

“No, it’ll be all right, Luc. Door really was stuck. Stupid Lupin put the ladders in the way looking for the eye of newt.” Head tilted towards Lucius, Severus saw out of the corner or his eye, Remus’s stiffened form, and knew that he was angry at the lie, but the wolf would better learn that pissing off a Slytherin, and still expecting to make out was a bad, and stupid, thing to do, mate or no mate.

As the lesson progressed, Severus lost himself to his work, as he always did brewing potions. For the first time since Christmas, he was able to ignore the pull of the dominant wolf, and his own urge to please him, and just concentrate on the potion bubbling before him. So intent was he on his work that he never noticed Potter and Black’s sly glances over towards him until the last second.

Oh shit, he thought as Potter sauntered past, making for the store room after some huge drama with Black involving lots of dramatic posturing over the wrong ingredients. Severus would have normally found them annoying, and only somewhat vaguely amusing, but today he was suspicious immediately. Potter was notorious for his lack of finesse when it came to potions brewing, but Black was barely competent and wouldn’t have picked up the wrong ingredient for Potter. Too late, it came to him that they wanted to sabotage his own potion, so when Potter came past him, he wasn’t quick enough to stop the whatever-the-hell-they-were from being thrown into his cauldron. He did have enough time to jump for cover before the potion exploded all over Lucius.

Time seemed to stand still as the pink-covered blonde blinked slowly, his eyes fixed on Severus. He licked his lips with a plump tongue and his expression turned from shock to pure hunger. He advanced slowly, with cat-like grace, pulling the startled Severus up right and fixing their mouths together.

“Mmm you taste so good,” Lucius moaned, licking and biting down Severus’s neck, his fingers trying, and failing, to undo his robes. Lucius made a frustrated sound and ripped them open, slightly, humming when he could attach his mouth to the exposed collarbone. Severus stood still and rigid in shock. He cast a nervous glance towards the front of the class, eyes sweeping past a very angry werewolf, to where Slughorn was looking at them with a slightly shocked and somewhat worried expression. When Lucius tried to put his hand down Severus’s pants causing Severus to give a very undignified, and what he would recall later as very unmanly squeak, Slughorn roused himself from his reverie and marched down the class to attempt extraction of one Lucius Malfoy.

It didn’t work; however, as Lucius was too fast for him, and as soon as Slughorn had one part of the boy prised off, another part was firmly on Severus. By this time, Remus had crept forward, anger barely restrained by his unwillingness to reveal what he was. No, not unwillingness; Severus knew that deep down Remus wanted to beat Lucius silly, but he couldn’t risk anyone finding out what he was. A werewolf in a school? The Ministry would have a field day.

Slughorn had sent a student for Madame Promfrey, and she arrived at a run. “Horace—” she started then saw the pink goop-covered Lucius still attached to a rather worried and nervous looking Severus.

“I see,” she said, before casting a spell that made Lucius go to sleep. Slughorn had bottle a sample of the potion, eyes narrowing when Potter and Black.

“Samples, Madam Pomfrey,” he said, handing them over. “Potter! I saw you drop something into Mr Snape’s potion. What did you drop?” He rounded on Potter, and Severus was relieved that the matter was being handled and that Potter was going to get several detentions, if the ire in Slughorn’s voice was anything to go by.

Potter spluttered and demurred before finally shooting Severus a murderous look. Severus met the look with one of his own blank ones. Slughorn managed to get the rest of the class to get back to their work, and gave Severus the marks he would have received had his potion not been all over Lucius.

“Class dimissed!” Slughorn called at the end. “Potter, Black, stay for a while!” Severus packed up and left the room towards the end of the mad dash, hoping beyond hope that Remus wouldn’t have waited for him.

His hope was dashed when the lone figure standing at the bottom of the corridor came into view. Remus.

As if Severus had said the word, Remus turned around and glared at him once, harshly, before pushing him into an alcove and looking under Severus’s robes at the marks Lucius had caused on his skin.

“How dare you let him touch you? How dare you!” Remus growled angrily, his fingers digging into Severus’s sides. Severus didn’t say anything, too shocked by Remus’s actions. All his fault was it? Severus roughly pushed Remus to the side, pinning him against the wall and placed his face, contorted in anger, close to his,

“How dare I? How dare I?” He hissed, hurt creeping into his voice. “Do you think I enjoyed it? Do you think I wanted it? No! I didn’t! I didn’t want his hands on me, I wanted yours! But your stupid little friends turned my potion into some stupid lust potion. I bet it was meant for me. How would you have liked it, having me paw the first person I saw? Crabbe? Goyle? Potter” Remus’s snarled at the last. Severus suspected as much, nodding a little.

“Before you accuse me of anything, talk to your friends first.” He pulled his arms off Remus and made to go, pausing on the threshold of the alcove. “Oh and Remus? I am very angry with you. Very angry.” Remus rushed forward and wrapped his arms around Severus, bringing him back into the alcove slightly before resting his head on his mate’s shoulder.

“Can you forgive me?” He murmured, his voice sounded so, so lost. The feel of his breath, the rough stubble against his neck caused Severus to sigh and tilt his neck, giving Remus greater access. Which Remus took advantage of and pressed little kisses and licks that made Severus make small, hungry sounds. Remus was pleased with these sounds, as it meant his mate wasn’t too angry with him. Angry enough to make Remus work at the courtship, but not angry enough to deny the mating.

“I can,” Severus said, breaking the contact and turning around. “But you’ll work for it.” And he walked away, missing the calculating look on one werewolf’s face.
